  • in which key is this peace ?

  • Violinista straordinario. Suono, cavata, tecnica e cuore : che volere di più ???

    SUBLIME !!!

    Grazie !

  • i think its very nice interpretation.

  • @anadimini yes, I do agree with you, I can not say one word, It's very good, we can lsiten only. his beautiful intonation make's me .....

  • Would you happen to have the other caprices, by any chance? In particular, I'm most anxious to hear 1, 5, 13, 14, and 20. If you do, it would be greatly appreciated by otherst too, I'm sure. :D

  • kogan didnt record all of them from what i heard

if you want to see someone play all the caprices someone put up videos of mintz playing them, just search for mintz paganini - i always loved mintz for paganini and they are videos you actually get to watch him play them, someone put up him playing the first concerto on paganinis violin as well

personally my favorite caprices have always been 5 and 17...

    cheers

    scott

  • Oh, yes, I forgot the 17th. My favorite has always been 20. But in any case, thank you. :) I've already heard (and studied) Mintz many times, and his recordings are wonderful.

  • my favorite recordings of the caprices are actually rabin, ehnes, and kavaks have you heard those yet?

  • I own recordings by Rabin and Ehnes, love them. Seems we have similar taste. I've heard Kavakos play the caprices on his audition tape for Indiana Univ, back in the day, and they are stupendous--about on par with Kogan's Nel Cor Piu Non Mio Sento, dare I say. I find that as he aged, though, he lost some of the focused energy and fiery passion he had when he was younger. Still plays very cleanly and tastefully (I own his Ysaye, among others, but not Paganini), but I prefer his older recordings.

  • you should hear kavakos play paganini 5 its outrageous, i think its the closest to the way paganini would have played it, someone put up a video of kavakos playing it here on you tube, its sick how fast he plays it really

  • Heard those, too. =P And the 24th, outrageous control. Just perfect. Kavakos has said that he can't play it that quickly anymore though, due to age.

  • really he said that?Do u have the interview?i dont believe he cant play that fast.He just has to practise that piece for a month and he will play it even faster. The thing with kavakos is that 1 he has started to devote himself in conducting(which is a shame in my opinion) and 2 he plays so many concerts with different repertoire which is very tiring for him.I mean one day his in italy playing Brahms concerto next day he is at London playing Sibelius,3 days letter he plays chamber music in spain!
