I was there and at the backstage after the gig with Jimmy and JPJ, Robert punked out of the party and went to some place 'alone' and had a pint--he's a cunt sometimes like that.
I first saw Zep in Central Park in 1969. This was disputed by some ignorant ass here. well, there is a vid and audio of the event with the date here on youtube. people should do a little research before they put their ass in their mouth, like coltsuperocean. The down tuning sucked for that gig and Bonzo wasnt there. Tryly a "you had to be there" type of thing for sure. I have the show on blu ray and Ive only watched it maybe three times since I got it. It was way better than Live Aid or Atlantic 40th but that aint saying much...
@haightbum The performance is obviously secondary.The down tuning or full step drop is necessary for Plant to sing.Plant had 2 throat surgeries (polyps) and evrybody knows when you go under the knife you lose range,power and technique.Its like training brand new vocal chords.Freddie Mercury refused his surgery and kept his voice `til the end.I agree the show was perfunctory and Page is also very old to be 'wailing' away but I`m glad LedZeppelin didnt go the way of the Stones or LynyrdSkynyrd

Concert sucked...songs played all out of key to accommodate Robert Plant's vocal range which isn't near what it used to be. I suspect that this is why there will be no tour...they're afraid to disappoint everyone and if I were once the awesomest ever I'd be the same way.
I was lucky enough to see Zep three times when they were really Led Zeppelin. 1969 (Central Park, NYC), 1973 (Madison Square Garden, NYC), and 1975 (the "Garden" again). And none of these celebrity assholes were in sight. A grand time it was. I feel sorry for real fans with no celebrity clout who were left in the cold so the likes of the talentless Paris Hilton could be seen there.

The experience was absolutely incredible, standing 20ft away from my idols, but I was angered at the presence of people such as Paris Hilton - her place could have been filled by someone who truly is a fan of the band and appreciated the music.

As to the how long since they'd played...I don't think most of the other 'reunions' were really open to the masses like these shows were. And Page's hair looks great.

Oh I'd suggest you get that film that shows all the performances at Royal Albert Hall, it's brilliant, just after Page got his first Gibson Les Paul. Although personally, my favourite performances are the ones in Denamrk 1969, when Zeppelin had just been born. (Look up these videos on youtube, Page has a telecaster and a labcoat)

The down tuning sucked for that gig and Bonzo wasnt there. Tryly a "you had to be there" type of thing for sure. I have the show on blu ray and Ive only watched it maybe three times since I got it. It was way better than Live Aid or Atlantic 40th but that aint saying much...

@haightbum The performance is obviously secondary.The down tuning or full step drop is necessary for Plant to sing.Plant had 2 throat surgeries (polyps) and evrybody knows when you go under the knife you lose range,power and technique.Its like training brand new vocal chords.Freddie Mercury refused his surgery and kept his voice `til the end.I agree the show was perfunctory and Page is also very old to be 'wailing' away but I`m glad LedZeppelin didnt go the way of the Stones or LynyrdSkynyrd

@candelise I know but U2 are shit musicians and couldnt even play their instruments at the first rehearsal.Its no secret,their is a source track playing on about 20 of the 25 songs they play during live performance.Actually you can prolly get Edge in an interview here on YouTube admitting the same.I think its one of the ItMightGetLoud interviews Edge says click/source tracks are used for like %90 of the live show.So you wont hear U2 dirting Madonna for lip-syncing anytime soon.lol

Concert sucked...songs played all out of key to accommodate Robert Plant's vocal range which isn't near what it used to be. I suspect that this is why there will be no tour...they're afraid to disappoint everyone and if I were once the awesomest ever I'd be the same way.

I was lucky enough to see Zep three times when they were really Led Zeppelin. 1969 (Central Park, NYC), 1973 (Madison Square Garden, NYC), and 1975 (the "Garden" again). And none of these celebrity assholes were in sight. A grand time it was. I feel sorry for real fans with no celebrity clout who were left in the cold so the likes of the talentless Paris Hilton could be seen there.

I've loved Led Zeppelin since I was a child, and I WAS at the O2 gig (I was just 14 at the time). The experience was absolutely incredible, standing 20ft away from my idols, but I was angered at the presence of people such as Paris Hilton - her place could have been filled by someone who truly is a fan of the band and appreciated the music.

Drum tracks are often sampled, not recorded; software modeling on computers allow you to create looping arpeggios on synths. More importantly, pitch correction if needed, since rappers aren't even required to take that into mind.

At the same time, there's very little individuality. From what I understand it's pretty hard to hear the difference between these vocalists because they all sound the same.
Either way, it's an awful genre. I'm probably talking to a brick wall, but I had to put it out there.

Oh I'd suggest you get that film that shows all the performances at Royal Albert Hall, it's brilliant, just after Page got his first Gibson Les Paul. Although personally, my favourite performances are the ones in Denamrk 1969, when Zeppelin had just been born. (Look up these videos on youtube, Page has a telecaster and a labcoat)
