  • I know there are the built in presets on the pod farm but do you know of any other web resources that can inform you of bass/guitar settings for particular guitarists?

  • If you are looking for a marketing company to promote you call 616-726-2754 or e-mail stehouwerpublishingjab@yahoo.com subject Julie & Brett

  • hey is it easy to sync the audio with the video with this ?

  • @rockyanez1284 Very easy as long as you have the right software

  • @JDJob what software do you use to sync the video and guitar

  • @JDJob Hey may I ask what software are you using to sync the audio with the video? Also, is it possible to connect a cam with an external mic output to interface so that I could record them together?

  • Can you tell me what is the name of that strato?

  • it reminds me jack e lee's one

  • @platso That´s kinda personal for everyone, for example: my strat name is Jackie.

  • @platso American Strat HSS

  • How do you record to your videocamera from the Line 6 TonePort UX2 ?

  • @imagemaster you just need to film yourself recording and after this you synchronise your video track with audio and that's done ;)

  • do you recommend me a program to record my guitar and then with that program add backing rack and effect over my recording?

  • @hiladelphia

if you want to record like in this video, so just do like i said in my last post ;)

  • The clean tones reminded me of Marty Friedman "Scenes."

The Toneport sounds great for how cheap it is. I wish they would have had stuff like it when I first started playing. I had a really cheap amp then I spent a lot of money on Crate amps that just took a big $1100 crap on me twice lol.

  • I thought the same about that clean tone!

  • Good playing bro,the problem with web cam recording is lag, is there anyway i can get line 6 quality sound with a handheld recorder, which doesn't lags?

  • do you know where I can found some U2 preset on the internet for the line6 ux1 ?

    thank you so much

  • thanks for the reply!

  • use your pinky more. i can't watch people fold their pinky together when using their ring finger :((( I can't it's just ARGHHH keep it at the fretboard omg

  • Everyone plays differently. There is no "right" way to do it.

  • When do I stretch my ring finger instead of using my pinky? In case you didn't notice, most of the time I was playing in a minor pentatonic scale, so I use my pinky whenever the fret gap is two or more. I guess you noticed something that my guitar teachers missed over the four years I took lessons from them...

  • Hendrix didnt used it, can't you see Hendrix, why don't you go to a shrink

  • hendrix didn't use pinky? ;o

  • y don't u look up johnny b goode on youtube by hendrix....PINKY!

  • hey there, just wanna know how good the kb37 preamps are and if it has noticeable latency.thanks

  • They're pretty good. Obviously they're not the real thing, but pretty good nonetheless. There's absolutely no latency with it.

  • Can you use this to record vocals as well? And can you combine tracks you make with different instruments into songs, like combine them?

  • They're pretty good. One of my guitar teacher uses a PODxt (same sounds) to record, and he's been recording for 20+ years. There is no latency.

  • Can the KB37 be used with GR3 Kontrol hardware and software?

  • can anybody help me...?!

I have the same toneport and i played it through the computer speakers...now i've got a 4x12 cabinet for my amp and want to use the cabinet also for the ux1...but it doesn't work!!!

can someone tell me why and what i have to do that it works???

    thanks

  • because you need a power amp..the line 6 has no power..its just line in only...like a pre amp...

  • Pretty much. I record video and audio simultaneously in different programs and then mix them together.

  • what program do u use to mix and match audio and video?

if u don't mind me asking, thanks

  • another question,

i got the gearbox installed, the ablerton live lite 5 installed, i know how to make a tone on the gearbox. but how do i record that tone? can i do it on the gearbox/live like 5 and how?

  • Read the help section or find some tutorials for Ableton Live.

  • That "bad sound" in my vid at 1:46 is me switching pickups on my guitar - it had nothing to do with the toneport. Often when clicking or other white noise occurs, it's because of a crappy computer or wrong settings.

  • hey is the kb37 a usb 1.1 or 2.0?

    thanks

  • You'll want to be using USB 2.0

  • this sound card line6 ux2 was a totally useless to me and had to just return it. i don't know i had hp laptop and all i hear from it after installed was a very bad white noise that nearly blowed up my speaker. tried it on another laptop xp OS and it worked. but it had a default low noise that is always there. i don't recommend this. all it has is just the fancy look and it is very light and plastic. comes with some nice program though. but bad quality. and it lagged as hell on my MIDI keyboard.

  • Next time take a few minutes to look at the help section on Line 6's website. It would have taken care of all those problems.

  • all you had to do was update the program using line 6 monkey! and thats it!

  • how do you use a toneport and a cam at the same time??

  • Use different programs and mix the results. For example, I use Adobe Audition to record the audio, which I later edit and export. I record the video with Adobe Premier Elements and later add the finished audio.

  • I just got one for christmas, and for some reason, it occasionally clips. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the clicky clippy whitenoise sound? And its not a physical click, only audio.

  • Make sure that you're plugged into a USB 2.0 port and not 1.1. Make sure that your line 6 software is updated too. If nothing else, check the Line 6 help website - most problems can be solved by searching on there.

  • I already decided to buy one.

Ordered it just now actually, but thanks man.

    Nice lil demo video.

  • KNEED help !!!! my usb line in dont seem to recognize my line6 UX1 !!! it give me a error code when i open the gear box, and the sound just dont get in my garage band!!!

  • Reinstall the drivers and software

  • Hi there.

I am on the verge of buying a Line 6 toneport but first could you help clarify a few things.

I just have some general questions:

    1. What is the recording software like (there is an 8 track recorder I believe?) in comparison to Steinberg Cubase/Nuendo for example.

    2. Is there any real diference between the Ux1 and UX2?

    3. Does the amp selection have the LINE 6 SPIDER series in them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • 1: Too Complicated, Use your Cubase/Nuendo (Or Audacity if starting out)

2: The UX2 has Footswitch inputs and can power Phantom Power mics, Along with more Inputs.

3: Not that I'm aware of, no.

  • In reply to '1.'

Can you still use the amp models that come with the package in nuendo?

    Thanks for the info

  • Yes, You use the Amps in Line6 Gearbox (A Seperate program) so you Can record with any Software ;)

  • hey you good guitarplayin but i have ux2 and how to play with a freind in Gearbox? and how to record 2 guitars and 1 micrphone at the same time???

  • did you read the manual?

  • Hey i was wondering which is better out of these two products:

    Line 6 TonePort UX2 USB Recording/Modeling Interface

    Line 6 GuitarPort RiffTracker

Ideally i'm buying for my guitar but would like option to be able to use mic and drum set as well. Please reply or post message on my tube profile or pm me please ty.

  • rifftracker is a cheap piece of equipment, but it comes with, what I consider, some great software for recording. The toneport is much better if you're just looking for hardware to record with instead of software.

  • yeah i got UX2 its well.. i bought it but i plug uX2 via usb from UX2 into mac usb cable in back and line in to instrumental input 'norm' and other into guitar and go into riffworks and press record and i get nothing? any helps on how it works on mac cant find any tutorials =/

  • and no Gearbox =/

  • Can i use this as a preamp to record without the need of the modules included?

  • I'm not sure about that. As far as I know, you need to have Gearbox open to use the toneport.

  • dont know if you still care but yeah you can use any kind of software with it...Amplitube, ReValver etc.

  • I have to connect my line 6 spider III amp to that thing by the line out jack and then to my computer to be able to record, is that true? explain me please!!

  • does that need some kind of powersupply or can u just plug it in to computer via usb and guitar into toneport and it's working?

  • It's USB powered, so just plug it in and you'll be good to go.

  • is this great for punk rock like for playing blink 182 music and angels and airwaves?

  • you mean that if i buy this thing i 'll be able to create songs and all the instruments can be played by me with no quality probs?thats sooooooooooooo cool !!!!!!!

  • I heard the KB37 feels very plasticy and low quality. But its a great value, So how is it?

  • There's a lot of plastic, but it's built well like most of the Line 6 products that I've tried. Honestly, I'd probably recommend going with a toneport UX1 or UX2 and getting a separate midi keyboard.

  • So I'm trying to find images of this KB37. I went to musician's friend. And saw it was an interface with key's on it. Ist that it? Cause i'm totally interested in getting one. And are you also able to access two different effects at once.. Cause I really need Delay and reverb at the same time.

  • Yup, you can use all kinds of effects at the same time.

  • Yes that.

  • ohh ok. I've heard of people doing it but I had never tried it, so it should work.

  • Is there anyway you could find out how or even just pointing me to a guide?

  • Can you take a previously recorded track on a CD and put it on gearbox and record over it?

  • No, gearbox is not a recording interface, just your tone creator etc, you can play along with a CD though with it though. If you want to record over a track, use Mixcraft or a different recording software to record over it

  • Does the gearbox software work with just a line in setup?

  • I'm not exactly sure what you're asking?

  • external speakers, but i found out how already. becuase i have two sets of speakers. my sony speakers have a smaller plug that i can put an adapter on to fit in the headphones jack and hear externally, while my bose speakers are plugged in the back of my computer, so i can hear myself play while music is playing, without headphones

  • do you have any idea how to get the sound to come out of your computer speakers?

  • Are you referring to external computer speakers or laptop speakers?

  • what was that @ 2:09? was it custom or factory?

  • 2:09 was factory, but at 2:14 I changed a couple of settings.

  • i just bought one of these last week...the guitar tones are very cool...but the bass tones seem to me leave a bit to be desired...is it just me or do they nseem to not have much volume...it may be my bass need new pick ups or something....

  • how do you like the lexicon omega. I've heard there are some problems with drivers and overheating?

  • Please read the two comments before this one.

  • I have a question about the Lexicon Omega, you happy with it? any problems with ANYTHING? Vocals? Guitar? (Both acoustic (mic'd or not, or electric) I appreciate the vid. though

  • I haven't had any problems with it at all. The drivers and hardware have worked perfect, and the sound quality is good too.

  • hi, i need your advice i'm a beginner in this computer recording thing, i have a RP150 guitar processor from Digitech already installed in my computer, but i understand that i need a recording software, can you please recomend me one for a beginner like me? also can i use backing tracks while a record my guitar? i really appreciate your help and advice, have a great day

  • I don't know how much you're looking to spend, but I use Adobe Audition. However, if you're looking for something free, I would recommend that you download Audacity. Yes, you can easily use backing tracks while recording guitar. If you use Audacity, just drag the audio file into the program and it will convert the file for you so you can record along with it.

  • Thank you so much for your advice, I'll give it a try to Audacity, than later I'll decide if I invest in something more professional, thank you, have a great day!!

  • Id like to get one of these.. but I want the Gold edition of Gearbox too.. that would be amazing!

  • Hey! Would you recemmend the Lexicon Omega interface (quality, durability) alongside Reason 4.0 & Albeton Live 7 ?

  • The toneport acts as an external audio driver, so by setting it as my main listening and recording device, I can record any incoming audio directly onto the computer while listening to it at the same time. Basically, it's a standard thing that any toneport will do automatically.

  • I plugged in my headphones. Do you mean input?

  • how are you recording the audio and the video at the same time?

did u record on your computer while filming

then later on mixed them together?

  • I'm recording at the same time. I forgot what program I used, but it was probably Windows Movie Maker. If you want to learn how to make some really cool movies, search for "How I make my youtube videos by schehf."

  • Great performance!

I wonder what pickups are on your guitar?

And I wonder could my Squier Bullet Strat SSS sound nearly as heavy as yours, if I buy that toneport thing?

I would really appreciate the answer!

  • I have the standard Fender HSS pickups on my American Strat. Line 6 provides a lot of amp models and effects with their toneport series, so you'll definitely be able to get a heavy sound if you're looking for it.

  • Thanx man! I thought I could, but something tells me that my SSS pickups won't pull out what I really want...

And many people tell me that I won't get heavy metal/Rock sound from that guitar no matter what?

YET many OTHER ppl tell me "for the very distorted sound you wanna get even pickups does not make a difference, you'll probably get that sound"

Now I don't know whom to believe, but I would tell I can pull out pretty much what I want with it, especially if I build in the humbuckers.

  • i got the same guitar as you , but i replace the bridge pup with a dimarzio tonezone , its sounds louder

  • Thank very much for the info! I hope that by "louder" you meant like "bolder and stronger with much more bass"...

And now that you use that dimarzio tonezone on it, does it reduce the hum?? Sorry if bothering, I am pretty curious about this :D

  • so can you run ur guitar through the tone port through ur computer and get the sound out of an amp.

  • If you hook up the audio out ports to the amp, you should be able to.

  • Hello, can the keyboard be used with Cubase?

  • I haven't used cubase very much, so I can't give a definite answer, but the keyboard can be used with any program that accepts midi.

  • Do you hear any latancy when you play?

  • No latency at all.

  • I don't know if you know this answer or not but I thought i'd ask. I recently purchased a M-Audio Fast Track that I guess is similuar to this, prolly different software and plugins. Have you tried the Fast track? If so which is better the line 6 or m-audio fast track?

  • I looked into the Fast Track before I bought my Lexicon Omega. The main difference between Line 6 toneport devices and the m-audio Fast Track is that the Line 6 toneport line is mainly targeted towards guitarists because that's who it's made for. The Fast Track looks like it has a little more versatility as far as recording other instruments goes, but I doubt that it will have the sound effects that the Line 6 products do. What kind of recording do you want to do?

  • The fast track should work fine for recording guitar, probably better if you're planning on recording anything other than guitar or bass. btw, I went to click reply on your comment and I think I accidentally deleted it.. sorry :/

  • how does this work with microphones,

and is there anyway for me to get this stuff on audacity and such?

  • I actually never used it with microphones, but I've heard that it works good. You can record with pretty much any program (audacity, ableton, cubase, etc.)

  • aight, thanks bro

  • do u use the keyboard for any use?im considering to buy toneport but not sure yet ux2 or kb37..

  • I'm not quite sure what you mean by "any use," but it can be used with any midi program.

  • sounds like balinese scale..

  • it's mainly just pentatonic and whatever other stuff i threw in :)

  • i need a little help using the abelton,,live,,,

    any volonteer

  • The noise comes from the computer right?

  • Technically, yes, because it is being processed in the computer, but the sound is inputed and outputted through the KB37.

  • i have just started using the ux1 and the sound sometimes breaks up. can any1 help pls?

  • Have you fixed your problem yet? If not, send me a PM.

  • do you have difrent fx pedals or is that the toneport...

  • It's all the toneport

  • If you have a mic, you can use that to record vocals, then If you want you can hang the mic and use it to record drums.

  • How do I record vocals and drums with the Toneport GX???

  • how many tracks do u get on the UX2 and can u add drums on it?

  • Are you asking about simultaneous recording separate tracks and about midi drums?

  • separate tracks

  • Hi...

    Nice playing.

I want to by a line 6 soundport Gx or Ux because i want to record too.

What do you think that is better (Gx or Ux). Can i connect use Gx with my amplifier and just play or it isonly for recording (i think that it has only a line out for headphones)??

Can i record with the pocket pod???

  • The UX's are definitely better because they have phantom powered mic inputs. Most of the computer based products offered by Line 6 are ideal for recording and not for use with an amp, but it is possible with some.

From what I have read on the Line 6 web site, you cannot directly record through USB with the pocket pod.

  • Thanks!!!

  • Hey man, I have reacently bought the toneport ux2 (I know you have another toneport but still they work the same I guess) and I have some problems with it. Ive searched alot for it but can't find any good answeres. If you would like to help me quickly please just respond to this and I will get a mail, and after that I will contact you somehow here on youtube. If you don't wanna help me just dont respond to this.

Btw smooth sound and great playing!

    // Ludvig

  • i have your exact model, whats the problem?

  • hey is there a way to get the toneport to be playing through your PC speakers with just the USB cable going through? because it would be nice to hear yourself fully instead of through headphones.

    thanks!

  • Are you on a laptop or something where you can't plug the speakers directly into the toneport? If that's the case, you can probably your default output device through your 'Sounds and Audio Devices' settings in Windows.

  • just go get another set of computer speakers, thats what is did. cost like 35 bucks and i run it through a 30 dollar sound board

  • Was wondering, did you get any Ableton Live Lite with this? If so, how does it work? Same mixing as other Ableton software? And I guess you can record using the Line 6 TonePort?

  • Ableton Live Lite only allows a maximum of four tracks. Other than that, I think it's the same thing as other Ableton software. Yes, you can record with the Line 6 Toneport series, which is actually what they are made for.

  • Does the maximum of four tracks include midi tracks?

  • I think so, but I'm not positive.

  • can you just use normal garage band????

  • Ya I had the biggest problem with that, only four tracks. But if you buy an upgrade then you can get like 20 or something. But its a big rip off, the abelton version for line6. If I were you I would garage band which works tremendously well.

  • Yeah, Garage Band works amazingly well with the KB37. It was definitely the easiest program that I used with it.

  • quick question..does the toneport emulate amp feedback somehow?

  • it doesnt emulate it but just like any other speaker it will feedback...and i dont really play it that loud either

  • hey can you make a video showing how you hook it up to your computer cause i bought one and im a moron and i cant figure out why i cant hear it

  • If I can get around to it, I will. Until then, send me a message and I'll try to trouble shoot it for you.

  • ok pretty much what i need to know is what kind of cord do you use to hook up the interface to your computer for sound(the monitor) and what input do you plug into your computer? (blue or Pink)

  • hi Dude! i have got a problem. I bought ux2 and the sound is not clear and the WORST thing is that when I am playing there are some micsec 'breaks' so I am getting frustrated and do not know what to do. Should I return that one and ask the shop for another one or it is something I do wrong...my procesor 1,6ghz and ram 1 so it is enough. thank You for Your help

  • Ah that's never fun. Are you plugged into a USB hub, USB 1.1, or USB 2.0?

  • I am not shure but it is quite new laptop so I think it is USB 2...I do not what to do...It sound terrible with all this pops and 'breaks' hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I dont know.

  • That's pretty unusual. Is it doing that when you are using Gearbox and using the ux2 to input and output sound? You could also try checking your task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) when you're playing to make sure that you aren't maxing out your CPU usage with Gearbox and other programs.

  • I changed buffer size for extra large and all breaks and pops are gone! thanks for help Dude!

  • You have your CPU working too hard. Download Asio4All drivers(just google Asio4All). They saved me hundreds of dollars, because I was going to replace my interface. It just had crap drivers. After you download Asio4all, go into the software, and deselect the crap drivers Line6 gives you, and select Asio4 All. It will be free of latency or pops!!

  • Does this line6 Gearbox sound like a real POD?

  • Yes. Most of the amps and effects are the same. The only difference is that with toneport devices, your computer has to take on the load of processing the sound

  • Then I think I don't want a pod anymore

  • can u match this baby with sonar 7 pe?is this thing asio compatible?what editing software would you think works best with kb37?having a 2nd thought of getting presonus project instead.

  • I would assume that it would work fine with Sonar. It does have ASIO drivers, otherwise I wouldn't own one. So far, Garageband has been the best software that I've used with it, and I've used it with Ableton Live, Cubase, Adobe Audition, etc.

  • wow at 2:00 sounds really cool

  • dear guru,

What if want to jam along to say itunes while using the ux2, will the music play through comp speakers or through the ux2 and whatever speakers are attached to that? In effect, does the resident sound card get bypassed for all pc/mac sound or just the guitar input while the device is attached? Much thanks in advance

  • just realised your not using the ux2... never mind, doh! If anyone dose have the answer, please enlighten me ;)

  • Awesome playing dude!

Which one of the settings would you say is more metal-sounding?

  • Does the keyboard have some cool sounds?

like a Synth, organ or Strings?

  • you have to purchase your own Keyboard or Synth Software but for the most part the Albeton Lite that comes with it has some pretty Decent Sounds.

  • thnx=D

  • Or find a mac to plug into. GarageBand has some pretty awesome sounds that will work with the keyboard.

  • so aside from an electric guitar, would i be able to use a bass guitar?

  • yes
