Wait i'm confused... aren't Phenom II processors supposed to be socket AM3?? You said in the video your Phenom II was AM2.

now pretty much all Phenom II's are AM3+ sockets but the 940 black edition(mine) and the 920 are AM2+, why that is I don't know but my motherboard as AM3 support so it was never an issue for me.

cause I am an AMD/ASUS man, if you have got the application "EVEREST" go to benchmark CPU Queen, and you will see were my processor stands, just a bit under a $500 intel chip. I paid $240 for my chip.

Hey Aus, congratz on the new AMD. Are you going to eventually upgrade the video card?

My OpenGL with my ATI 3870 is in the 6000-7000 range. So I don't know how important OpenGL would be for Blender.

Blender does use openGL, but not for anything high end, like all rendering is done on the CPU and thats really the most intensive thing blender does.
