  • Great interview! Great movie!

  • I'm sorry brother but Train Ride wasn't a good movie at all...

  • Train Ride is a multi-racial stimulating film. I believe this subject is over due for exposure to society. Mr. Dowdell's view of this topic will educate while entertaining all cultures. The film covered every emotion and captivated my attention from beginning to end. I am anxiously awaiting more enlightening works from REL DOWDELL.

  • Train Ride shines a bright light onto the issue of alcohol related rape that happens on an all to frequent basis. Mr. Dowdell is able to take such a sensitive issue and use the film to show viewers the other side of the issue. A very impressive first film from a black director for all races to experience.

  • I was very pleasantly surprised after getting "Train Ride" and checking it out. It moves just like a train, it starts out of the gate and you don't really know what path it's going to take. All of a sudden, it builds steam and becomes tremendous until it reaches it unexpected destination. Definitely worth watching and talking about it with friends long after seeing it. Loved the music as well. It covered many different genres, jazz, hip-hop, R&B, everything.

  • Really enjoyed this interview. By first glance, the director looks like a really young guy, but after hearing his composed and highly articulate speech, I could tell he has a good and lengthy educational; background. Went out and got the film from the store FYE right after hearing it. The director was right, the film definitely could save a life, esp. a female. Thought the part about Lisa Lopes being cast early in the film's process and then replaced was interesting as well.

  • I enjoyed this interview. I had already seen

    the film and enjoyed.

  • Good interview... good film!

  • Good interview... good film!

  • yo..dis my lab teacher..he can get on ya nerves but he is a movie maker of the hit movie train ride!!!!!..im n his next movie...lol..watch out

  • I saw this movie 4 years ago during freshmen orientation week at Fisk University. I hope Fisk is still showing this movie to incoming freshmen.

  • Great to see Rel is still speaking his mind and promoting his work. Rel's, a great up and coming director who I know worked tirelessly to get his directorial debut released. Train Ride is must see, especially by all young adults beginning their transition into the real world. It's a refreshing change to see someone who is willing to speak out about the crap the industry is producing. Keep up the greatd work and speaking the truth!

  • I first heard about this gentleman on Monica Peters, Mama's Cool Like Dat Show on WKDU! Mr. Dowdell has a great future ahead of him!

  • I have seen "Train Ride" and I have had the opportunity to show it to a select group of students. I teach journalism and I plan to show this as part of my curriculum. I believe this can be of great value. Rel will continue to produce great work. God Bless.

  • I saw this show when it aired in its entirety on Friday. There was a girl hosting the show Monica Peters(not featured in the clip). I like her style. I think she is a radio personality (If it's the same Monica Peters)

  • Intellectual insights from a breakthrough film maker. I have had the pleasure of calling Rel a great friend for 15 years. To see this film develop starting as an idea, blossoming into an award winning Thesis film to the feature film form it exists as today, is nothing short of phenomenal. The messages' included in this movie resonate in people of all; 16 year olds in high school, those entering college, counseling services at all levels, etc. I can't wait to see what comes next!

  • I was glad to hear this interview because the filmmaker knows what void needs to be filled in the world of black films. I saw "Train Ride" because the Philadelphia President of the Chapter of the NAACP, Jerry Mondesire, was raving about the film's importance on his radio show on WDAS-FM. The filmmaker was then on Jerry Mondesire's television show on cable the next week. I'm glad to see a young brother step up and meet the challenge.

  • The world needs to watch out for this brother Rel Dowdell. He is definitely the bro who will change the entire outlook on black films today. The Cubes, The Singletons, Hudlins, wayans, etc. please watch out for this cat. his mind is dangerous lol. i watched train ride and was stuck to the set til the credits rolled. i saw train ride right at bethune cookman back in 88/89. i would recommend all high school students to view this film

  • This interview is an excellent overview of the actual process of producing a film, particularly "Train Ride." The combination of up-and-coming(Wood Harris, MC Lyte and Russel Hornsby) /seasoned talent(the late great Esther Rolle), education and training created this highly successful movie. "Train Ride" entertains and educates, while providing a powerful message to a universal audience. This film should be required viewing for upper-level high schoolers and college freshmen.

  • The movie Train Ride is a constant Amazon top seller, seen in colleges around the world and just soaring. We know Rel is on tour and doesn't have time to promote the video so we're going to get the word out about the importance of his movie, Train Ride to closest friends who would like to support this brother and director genuis from Philly.

  • Now Rel, is a very controversial speaker, and was there before Rosa Parks, Esther Rolle and Gordon Parks, Sr. passed as major supporters of this folks. See the rare photos on his landmark site. He is a historical icon, very focused and you have to see the allstar line up of stars of today in this movie like Woody Harris at his prime now on The Wire (BET) and MC LYTE to name a few.

  • Now have you seen Train Ride, the movie on DVD now? The other guests on the great show were actress Kerry Washington and Terrence Howard. The interview was done right before the double-sold out premiere of "Train Ride" when it was at International House in Philly.

  • Mr. Rel Dowdell informed the DisilgoldSOUL Magazine community first to alert us of his new tv interview on the awesome "Reelblack" television show that aired last night and is off to his April Tour schedule just like that. This director is on the go, always busy but showing much love to the DisilgoldSOUL community.

  • Well articulated and informative.
