huhhh.. I think it was quite awesome for Malaysia to be having such an advance superfighter.. It maybe not very long range.. but it was equip with the most advance tactical radar.. thus it has been known can shoot enemy at 3X range of normal AIM missile. Thus giving the plane the advantages for early lock-in and warning the enemy before the enemy could reach minimum target range... And if 1-1 close combat surely advantage with it OVT.. If only i could ride 1...

@Gogies777 the Su-30MKM will easily beat the Super Hornet, Raptor and Lightning II in terms of range, weapons firepower, maneuverability and versatility. the only thing that the Sukhoi lacked is stealth.

@itom95 take f 16 block 60.its radar,avionics and fast turnaround will win todays battle than weapons firepower and a neglible difference in terms of falcons and flankers range.i will definitely assure you that even israelis f 16 block 52s will make su 30 mkms look foolish.watch out for f15 SE as well

@Gogies777 well the MKM has unique mixture of European (maybe Gripen/Rafale/Eurofighter) avionics integrated with the Bars-M radar and the OLS IRST.

the Bars-M PESA alone is not advanced like western AESA radar, but it has the raw power to match one. coupled with those avionics+ 3DTVC, the Topsight helmet+upcoming MBDA MICA integration, i'm sure it WILL destroy the Block 60/F-15SE first.

fyi, OLS can guide an R-77/any mssl to targets 90km away without turning on the radar. silent kills FTW.

the European systems are present in the MKM, but most likely they are not fully operational yet, due to difficulties in integrating Russian and European avionics/systems interface.
