alot decent skins in tampa not sure about orlando most them seemed like nazis to me, they showed up at my snfu concert and beat on everyone, and then alot the tampa skins came in and surrounded the ppl that only wanted to see a show, they are good bunch of guys and or girls
I never went to many Tampa punk/hardcore shows because of the skinhead problem. I was at that Skinny Puppy show, though, which was at the London Victory Club, I believe.
A bit later I saw quite a few shows at the Impulse and the first Masquerade. I don't remember too many tussles there. I guess the skins didn't really like too many of the shows those places booked...
funny thing is i think we (tampa folk) all know or recognize someone in this documentary and most of them have regular jobs or own businesses now. funny how life changes..
sad part is that alot of this was the precurser to the silly skinhead problem that plagued the bay area in the late 80s, early 90s (ybor city, the killing of the transient behind the tampa museum, blag flag at the cuban club (definitely not henry's fault), club 911, etc...
skins jumped rollins, sound guys, security , etc. and henry was blamed for the incident and was banned from playing Tampa for a long time. wasn't until he did a spoken word tour here at the ritz some time ago that things went back to normal. rumour has it a couple skins showed up and apologized for the fight...
These videos should be titled "How skinheads ruined the Tampa punk scene". By 1987 the "scene" had been totally overrun by rednecks calling themselves skinheads. All the good bands: Jehovah's Sicknesses, Rat Cafeteria, Pagan Faith, No Fraud are not shown in these clips. The scene in Tampa was great from 1984-1986 but had turned bad by 1987. Still, this is a pretty funny time capsule back to the day.
