Every denomination, every fellowship believes that THEY have the inside scoop on what the message of the Bible is. This pre-dates the King James Bible by nearly 1000 years (completed 1611AD). The Vulgate is a 4th Century translation of older Latin translation (Vetus Latina), commisioned by Pope Danasus I. So, as you can tell, I'm not "totally ignorant of the entire history and method of Bible translation"

So far my experience has been this:
Every denomination, every fellowship believes that THEY have the inside scoop on what the message of the Bible is. In some cases the Ministers or Pastors believe that THEY possess the keys to heaven, and that unless you adhere to THEIR particular interpretation of Scripture, you will NOT be saved. Sometimes it's said with a wink and a nod and other times it's said with a fist pounding on the pulpit and fire and venom spewing from a self-proclaimed man of God.

So I began to doubt and search. Again the Rapture is never in the bible. People have read into parts out of context and have changed what the message of the bible is.
So the idea of the rapture as some people being caught up from the earth and others remaining not being taught in the Bible, still stands.

Even in the translations between older English and modern English, some meaning has changes. E.g. in modern text man is said to have been created in Gods image, however, in older text he was created "to be like unto God". Though the change is subtle, the meaning is different. As stated, I'm an Athiest, and I see the issue here

@bbbfohio Actually, I'm sorry to say, your wrong. The first translation in to any form of English, was from the Vulgate (the original Latin used by the Catholic chuch) by Bede around the 7th Century. This pre-dates the King James Bible by nearly 1000 years (completed 1611AD). The Vulgate is a 4th Century translation of older Latin translation (Vetus Latina), commisioned by Pope Danasus I. So, as you can tell, I'm not "totally ignorant of the entire history and method of Bible translation"

Even on that alone, there is a "translation" (or if you prefer, interpretation) of around 60% of the KJB that was not what Tyndale wrote. Plus, where did the other 10% come from???

As even you admit the Tyndale bible is a translation from two languages (Greek and Hebrew), and as many words don't have a direct translation, there's inherent error (and thats not taking into account that the bible is a collective of different aural traditions, particularly the new testiment, where many of the books where not written down for around 100 years after the fact)

However, the one thing u said which deals with pentecostal and other religious groups who deal with "works" is not the same thing. pentecostal and the "speaking in tongues" being salvation is the bible, it is scripture. therefore it is not the same as camping statements that all who do not agree with him are doomed for hell. these predictions o camping are not scripture. pentecostal uses scripture to back what they preach.
