Warsong... I have no clue how many times I played that game through now. Heh, my first was when I was 8 with my sister's help. This game is what really started me on the tactical game path. And it has always been one of my favorites, I agree with the 9/10 instead of 10 for one reason, the enemies are suicidal as hell. *Watches with amusement as all of my enemies horsemen fall to a single group of archers*

I thought this game kinda sucks. But then I played the Japan-only sequels before I played this one.

The PS1 remake is far superior, I think, too.

@iiiiiifggffggffgfgfg i; hate the look of the PS1 remake. Also the battle scenes are not as gritty as teh Sega Genesis (Megadrive).

Neowarsong is a fan made edit of the original. also has better class path for Tiberion who was a bit of a wasted character as Serpent knight when later stages didn't have any water

@Trepidity Yeah it's true but l believe since old games are coming back to life with the virtual consoles maybe all hopes are not done my friend. Maybe in a few years we could witness a revival in HD of those great games... Who am l kidding, this is not gonna happen :-(

Anyone else find the females weaker defensively despite their numbers? For example, Lord Sabra seemed easier to hit than Garret or the three generic class heroes.

I discovered this game recently in some roms pack and surely is one of the best if not the best in the genre for genesis. now to the ones that love this game i recommend "Dinasty tactics" , "Kessen 2" and take a look on "Romance of the three kingdoms IX" all for PS2 platform. Enjoy!

There will probably be no remakes peiriod, because the company that originally created the game, NCS/Masaya went out of business in 2001.

i bloody loved this game. It was the fantasic soundtrack that was a cool icing on the top.

Just listening to the soundtrack to stage 1 brings a big smile to my face.

Ive played the fan translated der langrisser but i wish it would of been localised properly with the same look and feel as warsong

great cheat...bring mina back to whatever the first slime one is....preferably when she is lvl 9...then kill all slimes...the other mina lvls to 10 and you choose what she becomes...your mina will stay at lvl 9 so you can lvl to ten 3 times...

Awesome game, i had a genesis when i was a kid and played this all the time, never quite finished it because of lack of commitement. I started playing it again last week and im at scenario 17 =) Spellcaster commanders + archers ftw.

Loved this game as a kid. And still do.

My favorite class was the Grand Knight and Sorcerer I think. And Mage(not sure) Basically after being a cleric or something, and during battle sequence your attacks are Tornadoes. Ownage.

The Saint is the class with Tornado, and yes, it was pretty much the best wizard in the game. Arch Mage was okay too with Earthquake, but it wasn't nearly as nasty as Tornado.

Also, I loved Sabra as a Dragon Knight. Air strike for the win.

You give extremely good reviews. Very little, if any, bias at all. Great coverage of the game too. I wish all youtube reviewers knew how to play videogames. Everyone else would just rate this game bad due to the permanent loss of a character when they die.

the music is really good, the soundtrack and the final song is trully impresive

graphics are great too, the details of the terreins, the units.. the fights the spells

the playability it's extremely good as well,

you can always play the game again choosing diferent classes with your heroes

This is my all-time favorite game, won it like 5 times. I wish it got more exposure, hardly anyone has hard of it. The death screams in this game are the best. So cool to roll a fireball on the ground and kill 10 guys in a snap! And it's got undead dinosaurs!
