Incredibly played. I would like to start preparing some classical repertoire myself.. Am full of contemporary repertoire and little classical in hands. Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of this music sheet? Thank you in advance and again, congratulations!
Very well played. One of the most difficult pieces from Bach's unaccompanied violin sonata,Fuge, sounds fluent and melodious.
I myself play this piece on the guitar, but your interpretaion of this piece gives many hints to me. I appreciate your great efforts to challenge this piece on marimba.
I just finished this piece on the violin...and although your instrument is always in tune (there's no frets or keys on violin, haha), you have a different technique to work with, that's for sure!
both instruments have its difficult aspects in order to accomplish this piece, and you conquered it!!!!
i agree partially with some guys over here. i think your tempi changes are a bit awkward, like on 1.20 min and on 3.40 min there the tempo doesn't change fluently, wich is in many cases not a bad thing, couse it is afteral a classical piece, but when you play the rest reasonably fluently, you shouldn't do it diffrently there.
He exectues technically, but there is some items missing musically. This is more in terms of line differentiation, and phrasing choices, tempo choices, etc.
I mean interpretation, because Bach's music isn't only tehnique...for example look for Rostropovich on youtube...I don't speak english very well for explain..:P
I like the way it sounds, great job, maybe I would not change tempos so hardly as you do in some places, but if you like it that way, that's ok. nice work, I also noticed you posted some other Bach works... Go on!!
to learn it is already a great job! well played! sure interpretation is very personal but I wonder if you know exactly what you want from the piece... also I think that one octave lower makes it less brilliant then it should be, but its personal...anyways, hearing some original recordings would help to give real colors to your version. I dont think its too freely. in fact I felt it too straight and too freely in a few wrong places.
This really isn't THAT free... sounds tasteful to me. You could probably pull of playing straight rhythm on the piano and not loose your audience but with marimba it's good to use some rubato... otherwise people fall asleep... In my opinion.
My teacher said to me that when he was young he liked mozart and now bach.Smart guy I think.I like bach (mozart was just a talent). Not every body can play bach a think.I mean feelings. There are some interior rhytms...for example I can't understand very good the contemporary music.

@dmjust Thanks for your comment !
Bach is in public domain, just search it on google, and you'll find the violin sonatas with no problem in pdf format.

I noticed the one at 1:20 but the one at 3:40 seemed more like a bit of rubato more than a little slip up...either way, great job mate.

Hey yanych: not Chopen, but Chopin. :P

It's too freely!
J. S. Bach is rhythm and structure.
Why you play Bach like Chopen?

Magnífico, una sonata para violín en una marimba. Me dejas de piedra, y más siendo yo violinista y percusionista. Sigue así. :)
