  • Novation ought to release a usb foot pedal that switches the launchpad from automap to native and back again

  • @Synthematix I cant help but think the key combination to switch to automap must be some kind of midi message. If so you could use something like Bomes to capture it and re-send via a foot pedal. I dont have Bomes loaded on my machine to check though...

  • @TheDSPproject

Now that would be cool if i could plug a midi foot pedal into my alesis photon x25 to switch the automap back and forth

  • A lot of the time when i do this automap causes the launchpads leds to go scrambled

  • @Synthematix If your using the default automap config, try go to the second page of CC parameters. There seems to be less conflicts with the "native mode" launchpad midi messages in the higher CC values. Let me know if that helps.

  • @TheDSPproject

Seems it was a driver issue, tip: dont use the latest driver its really buggy use the one that came with the launchpad.

  • @meloshimo Korg nanokontrol

  • Hey great tutorial! I have one problem, and that is, when i change it to Momentary it works in Automap, however in ableton it still toggles on and i have to press it again to turn it off. Please get back to me if you can.

    Thanks

  • @aztexthedj This is the expected behavour. You cant have Momentray mode in the native mode (that I know of) sorry.

  • @TheDSPproject Hi sorry to be a pain, but what is Native mode aha?

  • @aztexthedj Native mode is an Un-offical term I use to refer to the default integration behavour the Launchpad has with Ableton Live. So the session / user1 / user2 / mixer stuff that the LP does stright out of the box. Hope that makes sense?

  • @TheDSPproject hmm yeah it makes sense but i followed the tutorial step for step but ableton doesn't seem to like it, oh well ill keep experimenting around :)

  • i'm lovin' this thing(launchpad) more and more by the day...thanx for the info

  • Hey guys, I seriously want to buy one of those awesome things, but, what can i do with just the Launchpad? Can i make live music with it, record it, and then render it on my PC as an .mp3 file? Is Ableton Live required? Because all i want to do, is turn ths thing on, and bring the world some amazing music, Please respond to me! :)

  • @MethshockFilms This just a midi controller, see my video "midi controller basics tutorial" But in answer to your question you will need Ableton to make any sound the lunchpad only CONTROLS Ableton Live.

  • thank you man, youre the shit. i think you know more about the launchpad than ableton.

  • Hey man, just wanted to drop a line and say I totally love your videos! You've sold me on the Launchpad, as opposed to the APC20! It's perfect for what I want.

    Keep doing what you do!

  • great video mate!

i was wondering if there is a similar program like the automap for the apc40 controller to make custom mappings into live!

    thanks!

  • Automap MIDI doesn't show up on my MIDI ports list. What am I doing wrong??

  • If you use dummy clips or just change your clip preferences to momentary you can do this within live I believe, try replay and legato mode for chipping up drums

  • i have been trying to find out this information for a while now!!! :X

awesome that you have done this video!! it needs to be pasted around the place because the information you have covered is not even covered in the ableton forums dammit!

  • @hazyinseptember well if you can help get the word out that would be awesome, Thanks!

  • Thanks very much mate. This would have taken ages to figure out.

    I saw part 2. Please more :)

  • @Pajes01 No problem, there is a part3 out now and I will be doing a part 4 but my computer has just fallen over so there maybe some delays to the next few episodes. Sorry about that but hoping to have it sorted very soon.

    Thanks.
