Actually, the cat really DOES teleport. If you look on the far right of the video at 0:08 or just after, you can see the cat's tail, and then a few seconds later it is on the left side of the screen.

What difference does it make whether the cat is behind both of the vertical pieces of wood and in front of the wooden porch which is the background or in front of the wooden background AND in front of ONE of the vertical pieces of wood but not the other? The cat could just as easily have walked through the "gate" and it would have been just as easy to make this video, and the fact that the cat walked behind the apparatus has therefore nothing to do with how this trick was performed.

@kittiecorpses09 I don't think that's it. If he went behind the boards, then the cat got longer. I think that the whole scene was shot with the cat going through the "portals" first. But he edits in the steady shot of the portals, filmed after the cat passed by, into the middle third of the screen. You can see a couple of skips in time after the tripod is set down. One right after it's set down, and another to get the cat to the right side of the screen a little faster.

There are no mirrors. This is a film editing trick. Notice that the camera is being held by hand to show you the props, then is set down onto a table or something before the cat walks by. That's so the film splice syncs up without any awkward movement.

He moved a section of fence out (towards us) that is the same size as the "box". He built a frame out of the lighter wood, notice how both sides of the frame are wider than the section of fence he cut out, this is to hide the cut. The cat walked behind the cut out section of fence but infront of the real fence.
