First recorded in the mid-1960's - not written with Michael Jackson in mind. But that is what is great songs allow for - apply to things not originally contemplated.
the best version of this song is by deacon blue - a scottish indie band...burt was a huge fan of this cover - but it's not available on you tube...which i find surprising.
beautifully done i never knew cyndi had such a awsome voice she wasted it on girls just wanna have fun. this tune has always been one of my favorites im glad she did this duet with one of the legends dione
Glad you have found out 25 years later that she's got an awesome voice. But if you listened to True Colors, Time After Time, and All Through the Night, you would have realized she was able to sing anything.
Songs from the past decade that are mature like this, are -
Water's Edge, I'll Be Your River, I'm Gonna Be Strong, and about 50 other songs. She has over 100 recorded songs, not all are fast like Girls, and I don't call her singing on Girls, wasted, it was a 29 year old vibrant woman.
This song was originally recorded by Dionne Warwick in 1966 I believe, i first heard it in the late 80's when i was in high school and i used to think of MJ when id hear it then...miss MJ so much
this is so beautiful! .. love cyn's voice .. just a question this is really for michael jackson??? when did cyn and dionne recorded this together? .. u know something!??
@fisanch No, it isn't a song about Michael Jackson (at least I don't think it is); it was originally recorded by Dionne Warwick back in the mid-1960s. However, since Michael Jackson's death, I suspect many fans of his would listen to this song as a "tribute" to him.
Burt I wish I could do just one of your songs.
Thanks man...
