Manu Katche drum solo

Le sommet de Katché, c'est sur "Nothing like the sun" de Sting. Effectivement il a beaucoup perdu en subtilité depuis quelques années..

ok, il a un bon coup de batterie, mais il sait pas improviser, c'est tout.

vous n'avez qu'a regarder le batteur dans "The Four Horsemen" de aphrodites child, et vous comprendrez ce que sait de l'improvisation qui ressemble à quelque chose (et vous verrez aussi des solos de guitare, mais bon ...).

le seul truc qui est vraiment trés bon, c'est le saxo au début.

Très peu de musicalité sur ce solo. Mais un point où je suis en désaccord avec toi c'est que Manu reste un "bon" batteur.

Non pas que je sois un "bon batteur", Manu Katché est sans doute le plus mauvais batteur médiatisé que j'ai jamais entendu...

Aucune structure, il dérape dans tout les sens, il se fait aduler avec des techniques juste "visuellement bonnes", et ne jette qu'un amas bruyant décrédibilisant toute la grâce de la batterie...

Je sais que son escapade sur une certaine chaîne privée bien connue en france à bcp discréditer ce batteur auprès des musicos mais juste un conseil vas le voir jouer en live et en reparlera....(très bon aussi sur l'album rouge de Satriani..)

"Olyyve" je pense que tu ne connais pas le mot "Objectivité"..... certe Manu fait bcp de promo mais en live il assure.

Perso j'ai eu la chance de voir André Ceccareli et Manu en live et je peux te dire que t'es à côté de la plaque. (d'ailleurs ceux sont 2 batteurs qui se respecte.)

Si tu ne connais pas je te conseil aussi d'aller voir du côté de Damien Schmitt...

I think Manu is great, people are talking shit here that dont have a clue. manu is the best, I love vinnie, Steve smith, dennis chambers, Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd, the whole gang, but Manu is so emotional and musical that you cant help but like/love his playing..He is #1 in my books..DT43

I have always considered Manu Katche to be the best drummer I have ever heard, ever since hearing him on Jan Garbarek's albums Visible World & Twelve Moons (check out the drum-based song "Gautes-Margjit" from that album), & then hearing him with Peter Gabriel on the concert video Secret World Live.

@Manmadrum I meant that Manu is MY favorite.... Everyone has different tastes. For instance I personally find Vinnie too busy in his playing... of course he's technically great, but I like Manu's feel & style better.

Anyway, thinking of drummers at that level in terms of "better" or "worse" is pretty dangerous... and certainly it's outrageous to say Vinnie is "better than" Manu, no? There are times when I PREFER one over the other, but "better"...? Why were Manu's takes on some Sacred Love songs chosen over the "better" drummer's (Vinnie's) takes? Or... I'm wasting my breath here, huh?

THis is the first time i've heard Manu.Wow . What a great and super interesting player. This is also one of the best sounding drum set I've ever heard. I know that that is mostly because of the superb tuning. I f Manu tuned them more kudos to him or his tech. Interestinf grip on the left hand that seems to work just fine.

See what I mean about the hands ? I've loved this guy since I heard him on Peter Gabriel's So album. His "Englishman in NewYork" (Sting) groove is also a classic - so you probably have heard Manu before but didn't know it ! I remember being in a music store and the guy at the store was on the phone with manu asking him to come do a clinic..Manu said get Dennis chambers i dont think people like hearing my solo's..this is proof the solo is awesome and i think Manu should come to toronto , Ontario, canada and do the clinic i would be in the front row..Manu is the greatest..
