  • the songs back then. it wasnt about sex, drugs, partying, how much money they have in the bank. good times.. good times..

  • I think I like Thomas's version better, but this one is incredible as well.

  • 96.3 WRock is gone and signed off, now it's 96.3 Easy Rock, WRock has signed off on 2010.

  • Que lindo recordar este tema, cuando tenía 22. Ufff me transporta, que lindas vivencias, feliz de oírlo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • People seem to forget that this song was written by an amazing Canadian musician, Iam Thomas, of Dundas, Ontario, Canada. Brother of comedian Dave Thomas of SCTV fame.

  • Good Lord! I was looking on wikipedia and saw this song, and thought I'd never heard this before. Turns out I have, but not for nearly 30 years! I remember all the lyrics from the radio!

  • hope there are more songs like this, very relaxing and wnt get tired listening to it, timeless..

  • i could listen to this song repeatedly for days... very relaxing and heart-warming song.. now, this is what i call music.. \m/

  • Don't they just do such a fab job of Ian Thomas' song. Sweet. :)

  • I like to make up movies in my head ( I got some Oscar winners in there...I think lol) Anyway, I have always wanted to use this song but it certainly was not your traditional romantic scene. Long story short, Guy is about to get Girl but it is first interrupted by bad guys and jackie chan style fight scene ensues. Trust me, if I ever make the movie it will be pretty cool.

  • I have this song on my Top 5 dentists songs of all time. This song would always be playing in my dentist's office when i was younger.

  • i love this song..so relaxing

  • I remember hearing this as one of those songs that seemed to be playing softly as background music in every single Restarurant, Doctor's Office, Supermarket, Dentists office, Waiting Room, Hospital, Principals office ,etc back in the day

  • I actually used to do this as a cover working with a band in the 1980s. Now, Greta Garbot arrived in Hollywood in September 1925 - Rudolf Valentino died about a year after that, but they never worked together or even met or knew each other.

Still a great song, though and one of my favorites.

  • Just beautiful...and I think that is the late great Jeffrey Porcaro on drums.

  • One of the sweetest songs I've ever heard.I only knew the lyrics-'staring like there's no tommorow'. But I did a google search and found it.I'v always wanted wanted to get this song and finally I found it.

  • This is my sister's favorite song. When we were kids we would play the cassette over and over again. We're grown ups now and she's living in another country. I miss her and I miss music like this. It's a privilege to listen to such good music.

  • brings back so many good high school memories...

  • one of my fav song..thanks for posting

  • i love america tks for uploading this song :)

  • Love Ian Thomas' version just a bit better, but this is awesome, too. I remember both versions from the 70's. They don't write songs like these anymore.

  • this song and jody bring me to tears everytime. I interpret them to rough shit thats gone on in my life. America is alot deeper than any band.

  • It is indeed a great song. I prefer the original, however this one is good too! Ian Thomas always was an amazing writer.

  • america gave this song soul, they brought live to the ian's lyrics

  • @djcsr, Ian's version is hardly played, just this one.

  • Classic song...nice lyrics!

  • BELLISSIMA NUMBER 1

  • I hope the bus in the photo isn't the one to Madison avenue....lolololololol!!!

  • Great song by a great group; too bad there aren't more songs being written like this anymore--melodic, lyrical, tender.

It would be wonderful to see more "likes" registered for this video...

  • This song was written by the Canadian singer Ian Thomas

  • i really love this song, make me cry coz' -overjoy.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • this song has really awesome lyrics

  • Excellent cover song.

Ian Thomas' version is still a little better IMO only because it is his song, but America still kept it timeless.

  • i love it

  • Only the title sounds like Shaun's Right Before Your Skies, but sounds totally different. Both are refreshing and beautiful.

  • Great song, excellent voice, beautiful harmony, but there is one song that I also like " I don't believe in miracle"

  • love this song .....

  • Beautiful song.

    Thanx for posting. :-))

  • I really love the song........the voice is so romantic!

  • Gerry Beckley has the most beautiful romantic voice... have you listened Daisy Jane before??? It's a beauty!!!!!!!

    (an he's so so cute...)

  • Please name 1 song so I can tell if I have listened to her, can't remember the name ( :

  • @Zanellachan

I so agree with you...Daisy Jane is awesome :)

  • Songs writted, performed, and sang by Gerry Beckley:

    - Daisy Jane

    - Only in your heart

    - I need you

    - Survival

Listen them, and tell me!!!! n__n

  • Love this song, as I do everything they ever did. Major fan and have learned all their songs on acoustic guitar. I just wished I could sing like Gerry.

I don't know if I would call them an "English-American" group. The only English connection is their fathers were in the military and stationed in England. They did meet and form while there and I believe had a hit or two before coming "home".

  • This is beautiful, love their voices, excellent harmonizing.

  • Little did I know America covered this song from Canadian Singer/songwriter Ian Thomas...

  • great song uncomparable....

  • i love this song so much since ive first heared it....INSPIRING...:)

  • Inspiring to those that want that girl so bad but don't have the balls to ask her, so you imagine Hollywood love stories?

  • this used to be a 'harana' song of my brothers during their younger days..how i miss those times..it's such a beautiful song i wish my man would sing this one for me..

  • My cousin Jokoy—who has adored anything Western from Vanilla Ice to HBO to Michael J. Fox to Sean Connery—knows the lyrics by heart, or at least the revolving door part.

We used to listen to it in Bongs room in Naga, which he then acquired when his Ania Bong went to Manila. The Life pictures of Rudolph Valentino flashed in my mind, and Greta Garbo stared at me like theres no tomorrow—a haunting photograph of one celebrity whom I hardly met.

  • "... that I'm rudolf valentino, pull up in my limousine"

..."just like greta garbo you stare like there's no tomorrow" LOLs

  • Not as good as the original Ian Thomas version.

  • Rudolf Valentino Must Be Proud

  • America kicks so much ass..

".. And then just like.. Greta Garbooo"

  • Greetings from Singapore : )

Thanks for posting this, its one of my fav 80s ballads.

Its such a lovely song, a pity it did not make it big back then.

  • google up!
