this looks more like a grudge match between two hateful rivals than a fencing match. i'm one of the loudest fencers you'll ever see but even i think this is too much

Bas was clearly the underdog here, competing against a silver medalist from 2004, so he used more than just the physical aspect of sport, he got into his opponents head and exploited it. Good sportsmanship, probably not. A good move, hell yes.

@trueflipmode Bas is clearly intimidated from the start, once Wang gets a red card Bas knows he can get him mad. i find when someone gets mad when fencing their focus/fencing tends to go down a notch which Bas is counting on, and it works. he pulled off a spectacular mindfuck here

Well if Wang was a silver medalist in 2004 he could really have done better.... Perhaps he just wasn't in the zone or hadn't trained adequately enough... We'll never know ey?

@patrikkatona I understand what you mean, but he had a relatively small time window left when he started doing them. Too early? Maybe. But at that level, you don't want to lose on time, knowing that you didn't do everything you could.
