  • and now that i heard the whole thing, i gotta say the only mistake is at 1:24, if people think the other fills are mistakes, the just don't get it =)

  • @runezeppelin finally somebody got the joke! <3

  • Imagine having to play after them...Unlucky!

  • You Idiots! this was intentional!!!! never heard PROG???

  • The drumming is not really off. It's done on purpose and it's genious work. Believe me.

  • @Jamaickass dude... that double bass drum at 1:24 sounded horrible, that wasn't done on purpose!! trust me I'm not a hater, actually I'm a huge Pendulum fan, but the guy just screwed up like everybody does, no big deal

  • Shut the fuck up. Ben Verse is an absolute ledgend. His unreal catchphrases like "Lose Yourself" or "Alright from the front to the back" just make the audience feel as if they're part of the performance. So stop hatin on him.

  • the fills are pretty weird

  • is more best without the mc

  • @EdWaRt123HALODnBStep Yeah you're right.Maybe he made like a gift to Rob on birthday with his absence ;) :D :)

  • when does the drummer make a mistake? can someone reply with a time please

  • @eeerrrrmmmm May not be a mistake, but this stood out to me. 1:15 Sounds intentional, just a weird spot to put such a fill. Later it doesn't sound so bad, but for me, here it made me cringe slightly - Just my opinion.

  • @LukeHandle I personally don't like him either. Their new drummer KJ Sawka is much better :D

  • What the hell is this kind of music? Weird but catchy

  • @blackshimi Drum and bass

  • @blackshimi DnB :D

  • I dont think pendulum really suite later with jools holland

  • the most agitated/lively ive ever seen rob while performing...must have needed to pee

  • @conormurphy92 hahahaha!!!

  • this is not regular music......just AMAZING!!!

  • they aren't lip syncing. they use the avid venue live system so they can use all of the plugins they use on the records live. thats why his vocals dont sound natural

  • @jonny26281 they really are not lip syncing, Rob Swire, the singer, is just amazing. Better, watch or attend some of their lives and you'll find out pal!

  • @ItzPkJoHn at what point did i say that he was lip syncing? i was talking about the vocal processing he uses live. i got that off here. type in pendulum studio and you will hear it from the horses mouth

  • where's the MC!?:'(

  • @Jamievanderwereld hes wank!

  • WHAT A CROWD!!! Seiously it looks like their performing at a retirement home.

  • @TheTBSPRODUCTIONSX It's jools holland not a fucking concert or festival. People go there to apper on tele have drinks and watch differnt kinds of music not to jump around.

  • lol Who are those Japanese chicks and why arent I fucking them?

  • what a choon

  • 1:25

im really hoping that this video is just a bad upload problem.

it would kill me if pendulum lip synced.

  • @igotclassyo pendulum would never lip sync. eveeerrrrrrrrrr.

  • @igotclassyo granite is one of the hardest songs to sing for rob. maybe they used some kind of audiobrigde.

look at propane nightmares life in jools, thats better ;)

  • love how The Killers are sitting there like.......yeah, they're a lot better than us. i think we might suck a bit?

  • all the people who think this is bad can jump in front of a train because it is pendulum they can do what ever the fuck they want

  • anyone think that this perfromance is wasted on the crowd who are forced to sit through the whole thing?

  • When I first saw Rob, I never knew he was so shy/nervous, because he has such a strong voice. But seeing Pendulum interviews and live performances, he looks very shy. Rob always seems to dread interviews and performing, his body language gives it away. He's awesome shy or not. :D

  • @RandomMissX yeah, but hes so innocent in interviews and then when it comes to most of there own live performances its like WHOOO, but u gotta luv rob lol hes awsome.

  • @xXPendulumRuleXx Agreed! He looks so cute and innocent in interviews.

  • the drums have gotta be triggered...hence the little delay with the faster notes...such a wicked sound! i love it

  • @HughWheelerDrums yeah im pretty sure it was drum triggered but the delay was human error by kodish the drummer..hes a good drummer but you can clearly tell his mistakes when he preforms ...but they have kj sawka so im really happy

  • the drumming however.. is off im afraid

  • haha i love the asian girls, they don't know what to think, along with everyone in the audience including Jools Holland... Revolutionary stuff.

  • I keep shitting myself every time I hear this...

  • first time i heard granite, i about shit my self, and it was on this!

  • At 0:48 the crowd shits itself

  • Whaaaat is everyone saying about the drummer failing? Are you listening to this? He's not failing at all. He's kicking ass.

    Ignorance <3

  • whoa!! Rob can really scream!! pretty cool i'd say...

  • gonna see these gods along side the prodigy, chase and status and a good few more, i wonder if pendulum are gonna be playing as a band or doing a dj set...

  • 1:59 epic fail... the crowd sux

  • @L4wr3nc3810 It's not a crowd. It's another band that's also performing.

  • @L4wr3nc3810 It's not a crowd. It's another band that's also performing.

  • cant believe kodish is gone:/

although new drummer KJ sawka is more than a suitable replacement

  • first time i heard a different song by these guys besides propane nightmares NOW IM A HUGE, HUGE, HUGE, HUGE, HUGE fan!

  • best drums ever

  • the drummers drum beat is not a mistake...if it is he has done it at most live gig since! watch the brixton academy dvd...he makes the exact same beat on the snare then!! i think he does it to prove that they are actually playing live because they sound SOOOO FUCKING GOOD LIVE!!!!!!

  • Best live band in the world!! Disagree? then fuck off your wrong!

  • tbh i couldnt give a scuttering fuck if the drummer made a mistake, it sounded awesome....they are AWESOME XD

  • does anyone know what snair drum is used in drum'n bass ? it sounds so GOOOOOD

  • and again kodish hardly ever uses acoutics anymore, it'll be the electronic / pad ones. this would have been a one off

  • no he uses acoustic kits but with ddrum triggers which is plugged into a midi device which creates the electic kit sound.

  • drummers do make mistakes and have to be good at improvising. no drummer is perfect.

  • @huwyboy1 he does it on every live act of this song

  • @KardiffFan99

Maybe that's why KJ Sawka is the new drummer ;D

  • @huwyboy1 Specially the drummer of my band....

  • I am a drummer and the drummer does indeed make a few small mistakes (although very small).

  • The drummer makes no mistakes. Its meant to be like that.

  • Sometimes they change things up.

  • @CitrusCrow Nah the drummer fucks up the double bass pedal bits at 2.42 and 1.24... they're rubbish! It's not meant to be like that at all, why would he want it to be like that, it sounds terrible.

  • the drummer is a professional drummer..

  • seems much different when i watch pendulum live without their mc lol, he always gets the crowd going

  • Just a quick note for anyone who thinks the drumming is off... Pendulum is a DRUM and bass band! Do you really think they would have a poor drummer!

  • good name

  • @kebabflaps i thought they wer emore electric rock now though

  • @kebabflaps The genre of music does not change the fact that the drumming is WAY off.

  • @iLEZtube It's a breakbeat and he's doing it on purpose to sound different to the album version. It's half a beat different and personally i think it sounds great for a live performance.

  • @kebabflaps well considering the that that he literally uses the same beat on every other song on the album...

  • @kebabflaps very well said. he DOES make the odd cockup in this though. but who cares? it's live, and quite a hard drumbeat.

  • @kebabflaps the drummer is really good. but you have to admit there were a few points where it was...questionable. no wonder he's not in the band anymore.

  • @kebabflaps I play the drums and I can assure you he's shit, that's why he's been replaced in more recent shows. His fills are horrid xD

Pendulum are still amazing though which is all that matters :)

  • @kebabflaps no ofence, buy you are obviously not very musical if you cant tell that kodish sounds a bit off here. the fact of the matter is that he was always in time, it just sounds bad and doesn't work with this song

  • @bertiemycat insults me with assertation that i am not musical, then confirms own belief that the drumming is not out of time but simply doesn't sound exactly like the album version... no offence but fuck you retard

  • He is not playing the song incorrectly? Its an offbeat. its to spice it up a small amount and pace to a live preformance. and yeah god the MC add so much to the preformance and also it varies with the crowd man

  • pendulum is just on of those bands that actually play live with perfect sync

  • Now people how much the MC influences the overall performance

  • hate it when people criticize his drumming- this is so hard to play, so much to do- of course its not going to be perfect!

  • I'm sorry. I don't get.

What exactly did he miss? Sounds perfect to me.

  • those are not misses. just extra hits you know, at high speed

  • He does them on purpose like adds in offbeats , theres another video where he does it, im guessing maybe to prove that its live and they are not miming like most of the bands you see on tv.

  • Like how Rob adds "Yeah" into Granite.

It's not in the studio versions (radio edit, In Silico version, single version)

  • He's doing that on purpose, dork. Why does a live performance have to be note for note the same as the recording? Why would he make an identical mistake several times over the course of the song? He was just changing the feel of the song slightly, gives it a little hiccup like it's being scratched if you ask me.

  • i agree with insituguru the drums makes some mistakes (maybe not evryone hears it, but im sure drummers like myself hear it ) that doesnt take away that its very hard to play this and im not claiming to be any better but i love this performance man :)

  • 0:54 is awesome...Kodish swinging the drumstick in his hand...

  • Paul Kodish (the Drummer) is so fucking cool...

  • I know,he is a fucking beast

  • I agree, he looks so menacing and badass :D

  • Pendulum owned the Killers on this episode.

  • it baffles me how the guy from the killers can sit there completely motionless, even the old black dude is loving it

  • Pendulum is awesome. Simple.

  • mmm

    rob swire :) <3

    awesome song, awesome band :D

  • an unbelievable band.

  • Nah, he's not miming, but it sounds slightly 'unnatural' (for want of a better word) because he's using very subtle touches of auto-tune on the vocals.

I'm not saying he can't sing - he's actually awesome live - it's just that that's what gives the vocals that distinctive sort of ever-so-slightly-robotic quality, which suits the music perfectly. They use it very well.

It's people like T-Pain and Kanye West who can't actually sing and think turning the auto-tune on full is a good idea.

  • Actually, I suspect that it's not Auto-Tune and just a regular old vocoder as Pendulum seem to have a fascination with them as shown by their MoP remix from this year.

  • i noticed it too! those who hate vocal pitch softwares are just lame and old

and im thinking of using it when i sing on stage too

  • i want his magic synth guitar

  • Its a Starr Labs' Ztar Z6-SP.... Way too expensive for me :/ haha

  • whoever does the live mix for pendulum is fucking amazing... they always sound perfect

  • It's done by 13 computers i think :)

  • wahts jules holland?

  • An awesome music show in England

  • if youve made it on a Jules Holland show youve made it.. For those who havent heard the Prodigy yet, where have you been ? Im 50 yrs old and listen to thier music, My eldest son played "Firestarter" everyday about 10 years ago lol

  • they are pretty fuckin good live XD

  • pendulum are amasing live !

what they are doing is also extremely difficult, so they may make a mistake or two, but its still great !

  • Never heard The Prodigy.. xD

  • this looks ridiculous on later... great song though.

  • Who are you to judge what goes on Jules Holland?

You know better than Jules Holland, or the band for that matter?

The Jools Holland is right for any music. That is what its for.

  • it's a great way for a band to get there music heard by the public. so many different people of different ages watch this programme!

i guess i'm just used to watching the live music where there have been crowds of people dancing... rather than just sitting around watching.

i wouldn't have been able to just sit there!

  • not the right place for it though

  • is he playing a Warwick?

  • Eargasm

  • You're a godamn retard.

  • are the triggering of the drums making it sound like that??

  • How on earth did they make Guitars work in a Dance situation?

  • Because THeey are AWESOMEZZ :P

  • prodigy???

  • pendulum o:

  • OMG It's PENDULUM...

  • lol

  • Hi Reuben. Ever heard of The Prodigy, doing that since '94? :D

  • prodigy fucking awesome!

  • rob swire <3

  • i find it amazin that even though they arent playin in front of a massive crowd, they the same energy as if they were playing at glastonbury or another massive festival. amazin

  • you try playing dnb and looking bored! :-P

  • I had wondered what happened to Shaun from Eastenders.

  • lol'd

  • great performance. I am not a big fan of drum and bass, but I think Pendulum are one of the best bands to have emerged over the last 10 years ago, partic with the addition of guitars to the synth sounds and drumming....

  • Rob is so frikkin talented!!

    It's unreal!

That is not an easy instrument to play combined with his awesome vocals!!

    Talented guy!!

  • @LostprophetsFF but maybe not as talented as Matt Bellamy from Muse, I still love pendulum though!

  • @nwiley619

Matt Bellamy isn't talented at all

  • @TheBenji979 Matt can play the piano amazingly, sing amazingly and play the guitare amazingly. What can u do?

  • @nwiley619

    I'm playing bass

And sorry for saying he isn't talented... maybe he is , but i don't like his musik

  • Pendulum are the most refreshing thing to come out for years and Im 51

They are bit like an Organised Pink Fairies if you get my drift.

  • Great transition from Studio to a Live performance

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • its weird, Rob has such a strong voice, but hes so nervous when singing you can see it. his voice trembles near the start of every song. tis mental

  • amasing!!

  • they are so amazing live!

  • love this song

  • Great Show! Saw these guys at Big Day Out, never forget the show they put on. Amazing.

  • they are the undisputed rulers of drum&bass, i think im gonna cream my pants the next time they release an album!

  • what kind of instrument is the singer playing.. lol it looks like a guitar.. it makes so many different kinds of sounds lmao!! GO PENDULUM

  • Starr Labs Z6-SP Ztar ;)

  • wat a band they get better every time i hear them

  • i actually clapped at the end of this video lol

just saw them at download fest weekend just gone and they were awesome. It took me back!

  • at 3:38 is that robert smith?

    and what a sick preformance

  • I can see why ppl are commenting on the snare...but tbh its just cos ur not used to hearing it, esp for those who have only listened to the album. But technically difficult and on time

  • At 3.31 you can see the drummer putting in the delayed double snare beat which proves he is not using triggers.

  • There's only a few bands that actually sound better live than on an album. And even fewer drummers that sound better. Big props!

  • looks hard drumming for DnB bands like Pendulum. not just the basic beats but the repetitiveness of the beats in songs like 5-7 mins long. gotta give'em all respect. Great music.

  • to be honest the drums on the studio version are boring. Imagine if you had to do that but change was possible. I would put fills in coz all the drums for all there songs are the same

  • the killers are massive fans of pendulum at the moment they said on a interview last night

  • cool keytar thing

  • The Killers are looking on at them thinking... mannnn we suck compared to them... haha

  • hahaha brilliant :D , btw i accidentally put a thumbs down when i meant a thumbs up

  • Don't think the delayed snare worked, but can't knock him for having a go at something a bit different from whats on the studio recording. I personally like it when bands mix some things up live, but as I said, it didn't really work here.

  • For all of you who think the drummer is "spot on" and whatnot...

    1:24-1:27

If you deny it, you're just fooling yourself.

  • your right, hes way off!

  • ouch, poor form, poor form,

  • omg, yeah, that is awful!

  • oh well he made a few mistakes.. who cares!

their still an awesome band :)

  • Hah! If you've heard the non-live version of the song, it actually sounds exactly like that.

  • Lol no it doesn't.
