Also, as a conservative I think Romney was a very strong choice. I don't think his religion or past views make him less of a conservative. He switched 2-3 years ago when it was very unpopular to be a conservative. If he were to switch to the popular notion I would agree with you.

Of course, his religion doesn't make him less of a conservative, but he was handicapped in some social-conservative quarters for 1) not being an evangelical and 2) being a Mormon, which, unfortunately, is viewed as un-Christian by some.
