I've travelled from the UK to NZ about 8 times spending at least a month there each time, the last being Jan/Feb 2010. I love the place and the people. If I was 10 years younger I'd be in the queue to go and live there. My first trip was with work and I was there for 3 months, those were the 3 most stress free working months I have ever known. Shame the exchange rate at the moment isn't so good it's getting expensive there now. Won't stop me going again though. Nicest country in the world.

new zealand is not one of the boringest countries on earth. ive been to parts of both asia and europe and i love new zealand. its so picteresque and so much to do there all year round.
A country with one of the silliest customs officers together with Australia. They just fine people 200 dollars for just 2 bananas. And they boast about it. Such a rip off.. I protest to go there. And i heard it is one of the most boring places on the world. Why should I pay thousand pounds to fly there for 24 hours and get this shit treatment... Thats clear why there are more sheep than people there.... Boring! Go on with ur silly haka dance fellas..
And what were you doing with 2 bananas anyway? Coming from a country of signs - so many that you can't see where you're going on the roads, howcome your well-trained eyes didnt notice the sign which covered bringing in foods and fruits.
why should i pay $1500 to fly to london for 22 hours, to find that it is a tight arse, grimy city, constantly wet and raining, concrete rat infested jungle where you cannot even see the sky. I have seen nicer 3rd world countries. I caught the first flight out of there the next day, and was proud of it.
england is a country of rules and regulations which make no sense. Right from when i landed all i heard was dont do this dont do that, dont let your children play on the escolators, remember to whipe your arse when you to go the toilet..
Well whoever the idiot was that brought in the bananas deserved it. You are told not to bring in food BEFORE you board your plane, then given a declaration form to fill out IN the plane, and if you STILL kept the stupid bananas, you blatantly deserve the fine simply for your stupidity.
Im sure people dont go to NZ exclusively for Maori Culture, my point to this clown above is that it is an integral part of our country (as is any country with a cultural identity).
I mean we dont go to Hawaii just to see Hula Girls do we, but its part of the reason we go.
But u hav just said it is over cooked by highlighting it?
I mean we could have ads like "Sparkling Korea" (Supported by House Music) or ads that of Malaysia (which is purely about their Culture and land).
I just dont see how Maori culture has been "overcooked"?
Trust me, there is alot more to NZ than Maori culture, in fact it is sad that tourists will never see or experience the real Wairua of our people. Im glad the Karanga is part of the ad. After all, it is a blessing and a welcome.
Wairua resides in the heart or mind of someone while others believe it is part of the whole person and is not located at any particular part of the body. The wairua begins its existence when the eyes form in the foetus and is immortal. This transfers into the land, and places of importance. The wairua of an area is said to be felt by those who wish to acknowledge its existence, and can be heard in the sound of the trees, water and wind. Commonly referred to by most indigenous peoples.
I need to go outside more often

Its called Culture...... From what ive heard living abroad for 15 years, people dont come to NZ for the Marmite.
I guess you think the way ou do becasue you dont understand the wairua of our people.
Furthermore, look on your passport (if u have one) You will notice 2 Languages, both official, both New Zealand, both of equal importnace,
Be thankful NZ has a worldwide known culture, hey look at the All Blacks, where would they be without sticking out their tounges? They Represent!!!

Although i agree with you they dont come to NZ for Maori culture either.
