The bulk of the invasion force consisting of thousands of men on Juno were Canadian troops, in Canadian units (3rd Canadian Infantry Division and 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade) that were under Canadian command. To argue points of semantics like you are is not only ludicrous, but disrespectful.

Canada was awarded independence within the Commonwealth, because of constant LOYALTY to our rightful monarch. To this day, the Queen is our Head of State, and true and patriotic Canadians remain loyal to the British Crown. Canadians are also well respected world wide for their efforts as UN peacekeepers to this day. Not only that, but our soldiers are continuing to do an excellent job of fighting a war in Afghanistan that the US started.

Mercenaryslick, regarding WWII, obviously the US played a major role in the Allied victory. But, Canada played a larger role than you admit. While the US was still neutral, Canadians were defending Hong Kong from the Japanese, and Canadian pilots were helping to win the Battle of Britain. During the Allied invasion of Europe, Canada had its own beach to capture on D-Day: Juno Beach, and Canadians made it further inland on D-Day than any other Allied soldiers.

And yes, Juno beach was THE Canadian beach head. The taking of Juno was the responsibility of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, backed up by British commandos.

The mines surrounding Juno Beach actually had a 50% failure rate. Furthermore Germans defending Juno Beach were ordered not to counter attack for up to 24 hours. British commandos were embedded with the Canadians more accurately. Canadians were often commanded by British officers. But when you discuss Canada's military past, it is often difficult to separate Canadian from British forces, especially prior to WWII, but that is because Canada has always loyally served side-by-side with the British. The Americans were unable to attain their goals of defeating the British/Canadian forces in Canada. The territory they captured was taken back by the British/Canadian forces. There is no evidence that it was an invasion, furthermore the US could yield towards 1/2 million troops and over 1 million people of fighting age and yet even battles in the war were tiny and miniscule - Typically battles were months apart and agian utilized only a small fraction of the total fighting force. A large majority of American forces in the War of 1812 never saw combat.

Yes, this was obviously important to the war effort, however, Lend -Lease did not begin until March 1941, one and a half years after the war between the Commonwealth and Nazi Germany began. For that year and a half, Britain with the aid of Canada and the other Commonwealth nations stood alone against the Axis.

@roytomb Umm actually most concessions were granted through immediate negotiation or through arbritation - It was not just "Some" heck the US even gained land through the boudary commision. Heck before the US entireing the war, 90% of US aircraft production was devoted to the UK war effort and this just an example of one industry

No Canadian had anything to do with the burning of the Whitehouse. Heck Canada did not exist as a nation until 1867. There is not a single shred of evidence that Brit gen. Ross or Cockburn even set foot in Canada prior to 1812 or that any of his men under his command on August 24th were Canadians, but again Canada did not exist as a nation in that war

The US supplied 80% of all allied war material. The US liberated Africa, did the majority of fighting in Italy, and did the VAST MAJORITY of fighting and liberating Western Europe. Canadians and Brits lost every battle they fought on the ground against Germany before the US led them. And the US did this while simultaneously fighting Japan by ourselves.
