  • Whatever the name, Istanbul is the most charming city I've ever visited, it even beats Paris! Love the people the food etc.. And I now have a Turkish daughter in law.

  • COSTANTINOPLE WAS,IS AND WILL BE GREEK

  • @GreekUnion88 hehe yeah of course, keep on dreamin' buddy, the eu will send you money for nothing, no problem, you poor people of greece

  • @GreekUnion88 hahhaa we r just laughng :D

  • It is constantinoupole for me

  • @Antixandros good for you

  • @Antixandros for world its İstanbul wake up u idiot :D

  • @youngottomanslap Well for me it is Constantinoupole because my ancestors renamed that city from Bysantium (that was the current name) to Constantinoupole. The name Istanbul is how the Turks(when they sieged the city) heard of the Greek phrase Ys tin poli (=Into the city in greek).

Ys=Εις=Into, tan=την=the, bul=πόλη=city and if you say those three words fast it sounds exactly like this for a man not familiar with the Greek language: Istanbul

So as long as there are Greeks this name still exists.
