Evolution has been proven using game theory. Look it up, fundamentalists... oh wait, never mind. You're too stupid and pig-ignorant to even try to understand.
My answer to this question As a Christian if I'm wrong when I die people will say I lived a good and moral life, If Atheists are wrong there is hell to pay God loves you but he wants you to love him
Dawikins believes himself in intelligent designer, he just not thinks it's a personal God.
He says God would require too much explanation. Well if the were were no creator nothing would need an explanation. wouldn't the non existence of God require even more explanation. My favorite one is, when science has showed a clear designer to be very possible, naturalist believe it's just accident, and that my friends is philosophical faith. You see science does not take sides. It's what you believe in..
@caruya " Dawikins believes himself in intelligent designer " - No he doesn't. " wouldn't the non existence of God require even more explanation " - No, actually...less. " when science has showed a clear designer to be very possible " - Really? That's news to me. And what do you mean by " possible " ? " naturalist believe it's just accident " - No, they believe evolution is a proven mechanism " that my friends is philosophical faith " - Not really no. Anything else?
Lol making more ad hominem errors, if the argument does not satisfy you it does not make it any less wrong or right. All I hear from every one is attacks against the personality of the debaters and not the arguments them self. You won't admit atheism is just a naturalistic philosophical view and does not make it any different than a theistic philosophical view, they are both beliefs. We just ask even further you just settle down for "chance" or "accident" who is the close minded now
@caruya " You won't admit atheism is just a naturalistic philosophical view and does not make it any different than a theistic philosophical view, they are both beliefs "
- Yup, one is based on evidence and the other is not.
Both are beliefs, but that does not make them equally valid, or equally credible.
Believing in unicorns is a belief too...
" you just settle down for "chance"... who is the close minded now "
@Roper122 Lol what evidence? The information in the DNA is one of the strongest evidence for a designer. Naturalist believe that, that information is all accident and random. Nobody knows how such complex coded information came from. Laws of nature don't have creative abilities, its just where that information operates on. Your only evidence is to say it was an "accident" you might as well believe in a monkey typing Shakespeare. So I'm a still the close minded and stupid?
@MrRobinjam It's not junk it's just mostly unknown, besides that information it's known to have huge potential and it's been linked with uniqueness of a human. DNA is an ultimate mass memory "device" Who knows what we find find later, the point it that it has the potential to develop a fully unique self conscious human being.
@caruya Atheism is not a belief system its a lack of a belief system. It says you don't believe that there is a god. Not that you believe there is no god.
Putting the atheist position as being "chance or accident" doesn't tell the story properly. There are scientific theories about how things work (big bang, evolution) and these explain (to an extent) why the universe and life are as they are. While "Accident" suggests outside interference and "chance" ignores how the universe works.
This is what happens when you think a million seller scientist has the authority to answer the most fundamental questions. And yet it's too scare to debate William Lane Craig. If he thinks WLC is wrong then wouldn't that even a bigger reason to debate him. LOL
- Oh really, so where exactly do you think Shelly Kagan went wrong against Craig? Since the common agreement ( even among theists ) is that Kagan trounced Craig?
" And Lennox by the way humiliated Dawkins "
- Oh I see.. is that why Lennox was caught out lying about Dawkins after the second debate? Seems Lennox made an idiot out of himself ( correction, a bigger idiot )
@caruya Scientists don't have all the answers, but the answers they possess are supported by evidence and fallible. Dawkins refuses to debate with creationists since it would give them undeserving recognition. Craigs whole concept is based on broad assumptions not supported by any real evidence. Craig is really good at debating but his concept is flawed. The only way Craig wins debates its not based on the content but his debating techniques.
Yeah he knows HOW to debate, unlike his opponents who constantly fall for easy straw man or genetic fallacies when the debate is about the existence of God. Not, It's religion and God the same thing because they are not. Creationist? here you also fall for the same ad hominem fallacy, attacking Craig's image, instead of attacking his argument. Dawkins has debated creationist before. Besides he is been criticized by atheist them self for not debating Craig.
All these beliefs must have originated from somewhere, and surely there is a good reason for why belief in god has lasted all this time.
My theory is that every religion could very well be real (I'm Serbian Orthodox) and my theory would be that every religion has truth behind it. There is even historical accounts of these religious figures existing.
To each his own, I always say though. No matter what you believe in, we are all humans with the same soul.
@cazinger It is not a question to be answered like "how many fingers there are in my hand?". What do you expect? An answer like: "if I'm wrong, ok, apologizes, you're right?". He says the best possible answer for such a void question: there is no ultimate reason to believe in a particular god because the biggest part of your decision to asume a particular religion is purely contextual. There is nothing to discuss about this.
I haven't even read the comments yet, but knowing YouTube and how stupid the people who frequent it are, I can tell there's going to be some bullshit debate going on just because of the title of this video.
I'm not sure what point there is in replying to you, seeing as how you obviously can't reason out answers longer than one word. He did answer the question. He specifically stated he could be wrong, but in choosing any answer, you could be just as wrong. It isn't a true or false question, there are an infinite number of answers that COULD be correct, but no evidence for any of them, and damnation from the others, for any one you choose to be.
@coryischosen he did nto answer it. he threw out a new question. . and you cant admit that.
you up so much at defending atheism that you cant see anything else. remember i never said i was part of any religion you just went on assuming and defending what you think im attacking . get a life dude
Let me do a blunt interpretation for you. His answer simply is, I don't know. He then goes onto say he doesn't have answer because, if atheism is incorrect, there are still an infinite of answers that could be. At no point would him being wrong imply that Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Wicca, or any other religion or belief currently being practiced or long since forgotten would be. If you listened objectively you would have understood that.
@coryischosen well he believes in nothing so if he is wrong one of the others might be correct . so he did not answer , all he did was spin and ask another question .
@coryischosen i really dnt care to hear anymore so please dnt reply. nothing worse than talking to someone who thinks their smarter than you and will do anything they can to validate it.
I can translate your babble too. You said "I'm going to throw a hissy fit, because he didn't answer the way I want him too, and until I feel validated I'm going to cry like a bitch."
@coryischosen hey guy all i said to start was ................he didnt answer . now quit talking to me . damn. are so so concerned with getting you point across that you have to pester people.
Judging by your first comment you wanted an answer, I told you one was there and gave you a chance to review and find it. You insisted it wasn't so I provided you with one. Don't start whining when your faced with your own intellectual laziness.
Let me go ahead and answer that. I believe in God, but if I'm wrong, then I simply suffer the same fate as you - death with no possibility of return. But if YOU'RE WRONG, then I get to enjoy everlasting life on a restored earth, while you get tossed into the Lake of Fire. And for what? Not taking 10 seconds out of your life, one time, to confess Christ as Lord? Everyone talks about how "wise" Dawkins is...more like a damn fool.
You realize of course that, by accepting Jesus as your saviour you have condemned your self to islamic hell. Why doesn't that frighten you, are you a damn fool. Now reread your last comment and realize how silly you sound.
@coryischosen It's opportunity cost analysis. Christianity is the only faith which offers free, permanent salvation. You have to work in Islam to be saved. All other religions don't even offer salvation. Christianity is the best deal. I'm not trying to convince Mr. Dawkins to become a Christian, but at least believe in something! Something is better than nothing.
@irufushi8 this i feel is a classic religious arguement not beieving at all. the idea that athiests don't believe in anything at all. the things generally believed is maybe "consciousness is god" maybe the universe is only bound by the existence of humans. yet anybody should be able to admit there are severely inhuman acts in the "bible" and many contradictions. also people need to consider who has been holding the power to print books throughout the last couple thousand years.
@irufushi8 "Name some of the "inhuman acts" and "contradictions" in the Bible. Last time I checked, there aren't any."
God killing every living person besides Noah and his family, god ordering his "chosen people" to kill everyone else but keep the virgin girls, god ordering bears to maul children for mocking a bald girl, bible saying it's ok to sell your own daughter to another man, etc. etc.etc.Now, do tell me, what's in the bible that makes these acts "ok"? Because I'm sure I've "misread" it
First off christianity is not the only faith which offers free, permanent salvation, or you could make up your own, like all the others that exist.
You want to know something funny, even within Christianity, you can be damned to hell for having the wrong beliefs and being in the wrong sect. You don't escape the problem, I proposed. One can require that Jesus be god in the flesh, others disallow that and call him only a prophet. Your cop out is worthless.
@coryischosen What other religions offer free, permanent salvation? And no, you cannot be "damned to hell" for being in the wrong sect. Believing that Christ died for you and was raised from the dead is all it takes. Your sect/other beliefs have NO BEARING on your salvation. But once again, not believing in God puts you at a guaranteed 0% chance of everlasting life. Believing in Christ and being in ANY sect raises that percentage. Go ahead and take your chances at 0%. See how far that gets you.
AS is typical another theist who knows less about religion than an atheist. You do realize of course that in some sects of christianity, baptism is required for salvation. There are some Where Jesus is god in the flesh and others in which to hold that belief is violating commandments and condemns you to hell. There are those that require a tithe, some that faith alone is not enough and have separate commandments you must obey. I suppose your comfortable in ignorance though.
@coryischosen Yes I know there are sects that believe faith alone isn't enough. But it DOESNT MATTER becuase (1) like I said, being a part of ANY sect is better than being apart of none and (2) why choose the sects that make you work? Choose the one thats easiest, but dont take it blindly, study for yourself. The entire theme of the Book of Romans is "salvation by faith". Pretty straight forward to me AND a lot of others. And by the way, I've forgotten more of the Bible than you will ever know.
If your sentiment is true why not just believe a god exists that puts everyone in heaven, regardless of behavior, regardless of belief, its even easier than your solution, and wouldn't require any faith in provably false stories.
Your 0% chance is also incorrect. What if a god exists and only rewards those that lived their lives rationally? What if god was evil and only rewarded those who made others suffer. What if god like surprise parties only only threw them for people who didn't think it was going to happen.
You try to imagine yourself in a better position, because it would shatter your little ego that you have no better chance at anything than anyone else.
@coryischosen The only problem is that the Rational God, Evil God, and, um your Surpise Party God have no books, no records anywhere of them existing. The Bible? Best selling book of all time = God making himself known to us. Your arguments are now borderline comical and I'm getting very bored with you. When 2 billion Christians disppear off the earth in an instant, you'll see just how moral and friendly your fellow atheists are. Good luck!
Islams number are over a billion as well, so again your argument is invalid.
Of course all your arguments are invalid. I took the easy religion that give me a chance of salvation. There are easier ones. My religion has a lot of followers, and a book. So does Islam. Yeah but my religion is easier, and round and round we go.
On another note, many other religions don't offer salvation because they say their isn't anything to save you from. You have to believe you should go to hell, before you can be saved from it. Its funny how you praise a sect of Christianity for saving you, when it is the same religion that says you deserve to go there, and not even because of anything you yourself have done wrong, just as a product of being born, picked a winner there didn't you.
@coryischosen Well you're very misinformed. Christ doesnt save you from "hell", he saves you from DEATH. "Hell" is simply a tool used for destroying the unsaved. And yes, I deserve to go there because Adam & Eve disobeyed 6000 years ago. Now we have sin in our DNA, and the wages of sin is death. So yes, technically I DO deserve to go there. But God knows this, knows it's unfair, and thats why he worked his ass off for 4000 years to bring about the savior - FOR US. Sounds like a good deal to me.
@irufushi8 I would hate to see what would happen if you read another high fantasy book like Lord of the Rings instead. That would be scary. You should put down the fantasy until you can learn to differentiate it with reality.
You think there is a god, a god who made all the rules, and thinks they are unfair? You think you deserve to be punished for deeds you did not commit, but believe you should benefit due to actions you did not atone for? Are you really under the impression any thing that you just said makes sense?
@coryischosen And yet once again, this shows your lack of knowledge on the subject. God created the universe but there are some things God HAD to create becuase of what he wanted. God wants us to choose him, but can't make autonomous robots that choose him by "default". So, in doing so, he must give man free will, but that, in nature, offers the possibility that man will choose something God does NOT want. There's no way around that, and not even God can change that. THAT'S why it's unfair.
To say a being which is all powerful HAD to do something is to imply he is not all powerful. Furthermore, If we are to examine the Adam and Eve story, why would he HAVE to put the fruit there and then forbid it? Why would he even require that we HAVE to eat in the first place. You certainly make a lot of assumptions to try(and fail honestly) and make your narrative fit.
@irufushi8 " if I'm wrong, then I simply suffer the same fate as you - death with no possibility of return "
- don't forget a life wasted living under a delusion..not to mention the possibility of any number of other versions of hells and torment... or even reincarnation.
" Everyone talks about how "wise" Dawkins is "
- Yeah... does everyone talk about how wise you are? Might be something in that to consider.
@Roper122 Too bad Dawkins doesn't believe in reincarnation or any version of "hell". And a wasted life living under a delusion? How is my life "wasted"? I still drink, have sex, listen to rock music, and I dont even go to Church. I support my family, community, etc Could hardly call that a "waste". Christianity has been the most comforting, fulfilling, and pragmatic lifestyle for me. And do people talk about how wise I am? Yes actually, because I do what God tells me to do, which yields success.
@Roper122 "Ignoring reality seems a waste to me" - haha, wow, your arguments are terrible. And uh, sounds like YOU are the one ignoring reality. If there is no God or "intelligent" being that created us, how did we get here? Even Dawkins admitted the possibility that there COULD be an intelligent designer. So there you go, he admits that there's a possibility, guess I'm not ignoring reality that much.
@Roper122 Lol, how does that make your arguments good? If he admits it's possible, then that makes your belief no better than mine. But, since you think you know so much more, tell me then hotshot, how did we get here? You say there's NO God, NO deity of any kind, NO intelligent designer whatsoever. OK, then how did we come into being?
@Roper122 Once again, what makes yours BETTER, what makes yours MORE LIKELY? Plus, you admit you have NO IDEA as to how we got here! At least I have SOME idea. Does it make me right, or better, or more intelligent? Of course not. But at least I have an idea. You brag about Atheism yet have no clue as to our origins. "your new at this right?" Nice arrogance. Can't answer my questions so you attack me personally. Please don't waste any more of my time unless you can actually answer my objections.
@Roper122 HAHA!! Extremely improbable?! Saying an intelligent being created us is LESS probable than saying we just popped into existence somehow? And you think my story is a fairy tale? Let's hear YOURS: a gazillion years ago, some mysterious force came into being (from nothing) and somehow this mysterious force (which had all the right elements) somehow collided (in the perfect way) to create this giant explosion, which ended up with life today as we know it. And you say ID is improbable? Lol
@irufushi8 im sorry but your intelligent being says that he created the sun in the 4th day, which is impossible, and says that he created vegetation on the 3rd day, which is also impossible, because vegetation cannot exist without the sun, this ends it here.
Thats wrong to begin with. Perhaps if you would open up the bible and read it , you would have a better argument. Yes you were right, the sun was created before the plants, but what was created on the first day? LIGHT. Btw, the big bang is like saying a tornado going through a junkyard will produce a fully functional boeing 747, actually, the tonrado thing is alot more likely.
@WintersHowling OBJECTION! your argument is full of bullshit as the bible says that god created earth, plants cannot survive with light only, it is the same as saying that your plant woud'nt die if you put in a room with no windows under a light bulb. the big bang theory does not say that everithing was created in a second, it took billions of years for earth itself to become what it is now, therefore your agument is a BIG FAT FAIL.
@1OtherMr Goes to show your ignorance on the topic. God didn't CREATE the world and everything in it during a 6 day time span, hotshot. God created the world in Genesis 1:1. In Genesis 1:2, The Earth BECAME (H1961, hayah) formless and void, as a result of the war that broke out in heaven. God than took 6 days to reform it. The sun, vegetation and everything else God created before ALREADY EXISTED. Run along now you theological ignoramus.
Even your apologetics stretch the bounds of reason, did i say stretch I meant snap. So your god laid out his word in the bible for man and then used a bunch of terms familiar to man, but with a meaning that man can't understand. Suppose I draw you a map and I tell you to go 2 miles and mean 750, would I be right to blame you for getting lost, because you didn't realize what my concept of a mile was? Keep making your excuses tho this is entertaining.
@coryischosen Lol, you just won't quit will you? Obviously, you have no interest in having a debate. This is a personal vendetta against Theism becuase you've had a SHITTY life and you want someone (or something) to take it out on. Well guess what? No one cares about your pathetic, crappy childhood and no one cares about the pathetic problems you've got now. SO get a damn life, stop blaming YOUR problems on others and start taking responsiblility for your own failures.
Your right I won't quit, I have a big problem with people spreading lies that accomplish nothing, but make them feel good about themselves, at the detriment to society. You are incapable of holding a debate. You know you have no evidence for any claim you have ever made, and you will even change your own claims once you know they have no chance of holding up in anybodies eyes. You laughably talk of responsibility and admonish your own if favor of your god.
Your the typical narrow minded atheist; you go around spewing insults, but won't back up your claims. Yes the earth WAS formless and void (anyone who has studied hebrew can tell you the difference between the word was and became) Have you ever even studied the wonderful language? i doubt it. And you wonder why atheists have the streotype of being rude, its because of numskulls like you. The atheist taliban loves to argue.
"Your the typical narrow minded atheist; you go around spewing insults"
"The atheist taliban"
"Won't back up your claims"
"Yes the earth WAS formless and void anyone who has studied hebrew can tell you the difference"
I'm going to assume this is was accidentally posted and is only a rough draft. It would be pretty hard to imagine someone telling people to stop insulting others, while insulting them, and then demand evidence, while providing none.
@WintersHowling Atheist taliban? Right because the atheists are the ones flying planes into buildings and chopping off the heads of adulterers and of women who show their faces. Oh wait, thats the islamic taliban. Yet you make the comparison of athiests to the taliban just because we are supposedly "rude".
We love to argue? Yeah. So what? I see plenty of christians on here that love to argue too. The only difference is, their typical arguments are terrible.
So It's your opinion that A being who is so complex, that they are single handedly capable of monitoring and influencing Every single particle in the universe at the same time is in some way more probable than the chance that life came about through natural processes. You believe a god created you, endowed you with intelligence, curiosity and the ability to reason, and you take every opportunity to refuse to use it. Ignorance is bliss huh.
@irufushi8 " Saying an intelligent being created us is LESS probable than saying we just popped into existence somehow? "
- Who said anything about " popping " into anything??
" And you think my story is a fairy tale? Let's hear YOURS "
- No, let's hear your version of what you want to think is my story. Trouble is, I don't have a " story " I have the honesty to admit that we do not know. You should try it some time.
@Roper122 But yet...your "honesty to admit that we do not know" somehow becomes unchallengeable, scientific fact? I never heard in the classroom, "We do not know." Far from it. Bravo for your admission, perhaps you will campaign for similar honesty from your comrades.
Man. I'm starting to really regret not going to that lecture. I was a student at that college at that time and I remember sitting up in my room debating if I wanted to go and I didn't. I really wish I had...
i am a current masters of astropysics physics student who comes online to see what retards like you who haven't a fucks notion have to say and rip them a new asshole. care to debate at all? have you any understanding of astrophysics dipshit?. philosophy isn't science you absolute retard. my god you picked a fight with someone way outta your league. philosophy ha!!
i have come up with a scientific theory but i need some help to solve it.............i have posted it on you-tube site "charlie rose leon panetta".......just read my comments below the video.
Many Atheists, when asked this question, will usually answer YES, "Do you believe life may exist somewhere in the universe besides Earth?". However, when you ask them if God exists, then say, "NO!". Yet a minute ago they admitted that life may exist somewhere else in the universe, yet then they claim God does not exist. It's funny to watch these Atheists run around like headless chickens not knowing what they are doing or believing, they are so closed minded and arrogant and proud.
@EvangelistEvan Your comment, while lovably smug, makes no sense.
God--going by Judeo-Christian doctrine--is an infinite, eternal being: something that doesn't congeal with ANY accepted definition of "life". Also, to call God "life" implies mortality, contradicting said doctrine.
Also, the "other life in the universe" bit is a misnomer AND an ad hominem (TWO logical fallcies in one!): Heaven is--for lack of a better term--another plane of existence, and thus NOT part of our universe.
@EvangelistEvan (Continued) It thus follows that, when considering life elsewhere in the cosmos, realms of the afterlife can be discounted, as they are, again, other planes of existance and thus not truly "part" of our universe, in a physical, can't-get-there-any-way-besides-dying sense.
It's funny to watch a smug little snake prattle on about how stupid others are, not knowing just how stupid and arrogant he is.
When you ask if a god exists you may as well be asking if adsjkhr exists. Without a definition with which to ascertain exactly what your referring to we would have no reason to answer yes. If I asked you if an ant exists, you would use your understood definition of an ant to answer that question. If you had no concept of an ant or a misconception, I would provide a definition. You refuse to do this, and until you do I see no reason to ponder a belief in it.
@coryischosen Stop running and hiding from my question, stop dancing and sidestepping. Are you 100% sure God does not exist? And are you 100% sure no life exists anywhere in the universe besides Earth?
Define god and I'll give you an answer. For someone who thinks they are really clever, you seem really frightened to do it. Is it that you just have problems expressing yourself correctly? If you'd like, you can go find an adult to help you form a coherent thought, I'll be waiting for you when you get back.
its all ready been proved god dosent exist. one hundred years ago every christian(and some still now) belived the earth was the centre of the universe and the only planet in the universe. the point dawkins is making is that it has been proven there is no god.
@FreddyBenelli 1.galileo did not belive the earth was flat,2.i never mentioned anything about the earth being flat,3 the world population didnt accept the fact there were other planets in our solar system untill the start of the 1900s,4. logical analysis has PROVEN there is no god(there is an infinite number of infinite universes') if we take gods word(the bible) all of scientific fact is wrong. next idiot please!!!
@dpcrozier99 That's not true, you're talking out of your ass. Dawkins does not set out his argument in the attempt to refute the existence of God, he even claimed yesterday in a debate with the Archbishop of Canterbury that he was theoretically an agnostic. He believes that there is a God, perhaps not the God of classical theism but that there is most definitely a supreme being.
@LiquidPromotionz you clearly didnt understand a word he said then. did you not realize this was richard dawkins, who wrote the god delusion, and now you claim he belives in god, just shut up.he made the point that any stupid made up "god" doesnt exist because it was the people who lived here before us that invented it depending on where they lived. gettit yet dumbass???
@dpcrozier99 Listen you half whitted twirp, if you pay attention to what Dawkins spoke of in the debate yesterday, you will understand that his view of God is completely different to the one that you say he is posing. Do not act all condescending to me as I am a current Philosophy student at university and I guarantee that I am far more qualified and informed about Dawkins then you are.
@LiquidPromotionz In the God Delusion, by no means does he rule out the option for the existence of a greater, supreme being. He is simply addressing the common problem associated with the traditional Genesis idea of who and what God is, the classical theist perspective. So please shut the fuck up and comeback to me when you understand his works douchebag.
@EvangelistEvan It sounds like you're basing your whole belief on Pascal's Wager. A true christian would believe in god 100%, and would hold no reservations for the opposition. From what you said, it sounds to me that you are just a christian, because you are afraid of an eternal torture. Now is that really the same as believing in god?

@EvangelistEvan An omniscient god would be able to tell if you converted to christianity out of fear so you'd be fucked anyway. No i can't prove god doesn't exist, but it's still no reason to take out a fire insurance policy on my salvation.
Your name implies your an evangelist, working from there we assume you are referring to the god which evangelism identifies with, which is omniscient. From that a person can assume that your fourth question is meaningless to ponder on your decision of belief.
How about instead of being overtly vague, in attempt to try and score cheap points, which only the ignorant give you credit for, you give us your definition of god, and we work from there.
@EvangelistEvan have you ever heard of the uncertainty principal? if you understand that you will know that the computer in front of you that your 100 percent certain of isn't even there. the problem with christians trying to argue is they don't understand the concept of logic, yet often try to use it to explain there bullshit. you'll find you have to constantly defend your opinion because your too stupid to realize how wrong you are. if theres one thing i can do to help you, WAKE UP!!!
@EvangelistEvan Do you believe he is omniscient? I don't think he must be but if you are a typical christian (which i assume you are) then i have no reason to be afraid. I'd rather live in hell with critical thinking individuals than live in heaven with god the way he's described in the bible.
@shortdrummer991 You are doing it again lol, running and hiding from my questions and refusing to provide a direct and honest answer and then instead asking me questions instead in a desperate attempt to avoid my questions. All Atheists do this to me, they are so frightened off my questions.
I have just caught you out over and over contradicting yourself.
@EvangelistEvan OK fine. I accept the possibility i am wrong. I accept the possibilty that anything in this universe could be true because human are WAY to insignificant in the cosmos to understand it. The point i was making before (which you completely ignored by the way) is that it's no reason to believe in fairy tales just because it might have negative consequences.
@shortdrummer991 I am glad you FINALLY admitted that there is a chance a God exists. But even if you had proof God existed, you would still hate God and still reject Him. We have been through this before in heaven, billions of Angels there and a third of them were unhappy and rebelled against God.
So even if you had PROOF that God exists and even if you had a free ticket to enter heaven, you would be very miserable there, it would not be a place you would like or want to be.
@EvangelistEvan Listen, I don't reject god.Rejecting would imply I actually believe he existsin order to reject him. Satanists reject god, while I disbelieve that one exists. All he has do is reveal himself to me and the world IN PERSON and i would have no problem worshipping and praising him. Second of all why did you you completely ignore my argument that fear is no reason to believe? Keep in mind I will not respond to anymore comments. Thank you.
@shortdrummer991 granted, but as long as they aren't harming themselves or others, why not just let people that believe what they wish? there are surprisingly few certainties in this universe and some people may wish to believe that there is a heaven because it brings them peace of mind.
this is, however, predicated on the assumption that they are not harming themselves or others with their own beliefs. if they ARE harming themselves or others, that's a different matter entirely.
@WMBrown I agree entirely. I'm not saying people can't believe what they want and I understand how emotionally gratifying it is to believe that someone or something is protecting you. I was just replying to his question and i thought i would reply to him and give my insight. Big mistake. I realize that trying to reason with a deeply devoted christian is like telling a brick wall to collapse. (Sorry if I sounded like I hate religion, I really don't)
@shortdrummer991 which is unfortunate... if they cannot take a step back and realize that preaching to people that have no interest isn't going to bring them to their side... conversion by the sword has NEVER worked, if anything, it's only led to lip-service.
what i do find very frightening is the "holier than thou" attitude... if they take the time to read and understand the bible, they would know that they need to be humble, not boastful. hubris IS one of the deadly sins afterall.
The problem is that conversion by the sword does work. The ones with the sword at their throats never become real believers true, but the next generation that grows up seeing the lip service sometimes do.
@coryischosen aah, i hadn't thought of that. i guess that does a better explanation of explaining the rabid religious types such as the WBC, extremist muslims/christians (cut from the same cloth they are) than i have.
this is also why i think people should learn to suspend their religious convictions if only for a short time... you CAN learn things when you do.
"What if I'm wrong??? Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......................well..........................................what if you're wrong???? Ha! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it you dumbass theist!!!" Such a wise and logical man....
@Roper122 First off, I was making a joke so please loosen your butthole a little bit before you get all bent out of shape. Second, from what I've read of Dawkin's work, his logic is mediocre at best....AT BEST What do I think the answer should be?? Hmmmm....how bout "well if I'm wrong I guess I'm fucked!" Does that work for you? =]
@205whiteboy Again, a joke. But if it makes you feel better to say my comment wasn't logical or wasn't funny good for you. But, to be fair, trying to imply I made an attempt at deep logic in order to call it illogical is....illogical. But to respond to your comment "just because he's wrong, doesn't make anyone else necessarily right." I agree with you. The same could be said of both sides...but yes, just because one side is wrong it does not necessarily make the other side right.
@205whiteboy " yes, just because one side is wrong it does not necessarily make the other side right "
- Agreed.. so therefore your comment was illogical, which coming after you wrote off Dawkins for being illogical, seems ...well...
If you're going to say that you weren't trying to be " deep " logical ( whatever that is ).. then the same can be said for Dawkins and you're back at square one.
I'm not worked up, I can appreciate your attitude... but you're point is a bad one.
@Undertaker3879 So then he asks the same "absolute moronic" question....very logical Dawkins. A true genius indeed. Seriously though, my point was to just make a joke. Everyone is entitled to believe whatever they want to believe.
Swag.

We just ask even further you just settle down for "chance" or "accident" who is the close minded now
caruya 1 day ago
@caruya " You won't admit atheism is just a naturalistic philosophical view and does not make it any different than a theistic philosophical view, they are both beliefs "
- Yup, one is based on evidence and the other is not.
Both are beliefs, but that does not make them equally valid, or equally credible.
Believing in unicorns is a belief too...
" you just settle down for "chance"... who is the close minded now "
- You are... you just settle for " god "
Anymore pointless statements?
Roper122 1 day ago
@Roper122 Lol what evidence? The information in the DNA is one of the strongest evidence for a designer. Naturalist believe that, that information is all accident and random. Nobody knows how such complex coded information came from. Laws of nature don't have creative abilities, its just where that information operates on. Your only evidence is to say it was an "accident" you might as well believe in a monkey typing Shakespeare. So I'm a still the close minded and stupid?
caruya 1 day ago
@caruya Around 98% of human DNA is non-coding. Why would an intelligent designer put so much junk in there?
MrRobinjam 1 day ago
@MrRobinjam It's not junk it's just mostly unknown, besides that information it's known to have huge potential and it's been linked with uniqueness of a human. DNA is an ultimate mass memory "device" Who knows what we find find later, the point it that it has the potential to develop a fully unique self conscious human being.
caruya 1 day ago
@caruya No, it's junk. The genes it codes for are inactive in humans. This is in fact one piece of evidence in favour of evolution.
MrRobinjam 1 day ago
@caruya " The information in the DNA is one of the strongest evidence for a designer. "
- No it's not, it's simply information.
" Nobody knows how such complex coded information came from "
- Evolution
"| Laws of nature don't have creative abilities "
- Evolution
" Your only evidence is to say it was an "accident"
- Or....evolution
" So I'm a still the close minded and stupid? "
- Now that I'll agree with
Roper122 17 hours ago 8
@caruya "So I'm a still the close minded and stupid?"
Yes.
MagnusNyborg 6 hours ago

LOL
caruya 1 day ago
@caruya " This is what happens when you think a million seller scientist has the authority to answer the most fundamental questions "
- Do you actually think that was a fundamental question??
" And yet it's too scare to debate William Lane Craig "
- The only time he was in a debate with Craig, it went so badly for Craig that he ended up calling the other side bigots.
By your logic Craig is scared of anyone who he wont debate.
Meanwhile Kagan and Law destroyed Craig.
Anything else?

caruya 1 day ago

- Oh really, so where exactly do you think Shelly Kagan went wrong against Craig? Since the common agreement ( even among theists ) is that Kagan trounced Craig?
" And Lennox by the way humiliated Dawkins "
- Oh I see.. is that why Lennox was caught out lying about Dawkins after the second debate? Seems Lennox made an idiot out of himself ( correction, a bigger idiot )
Roper122 1 day ago
@caruya Scientists don't have all the answers, but the answers they possess are supported by evidence and fallible. Dawkins refuses to debate with creationists since it would give them undeserving recognition. Craigs whole concept is based on broad assumptions not supported by any real evidence. Craig is really good at debating but his concept is flawed. The only way Craig wins debates its not based on the content but his debating techniques.
chrisinsocalif 1 day ago
Yeah he knows HOW to debate, unlike his opponents who constantly fall for easy straw man or genetic fallacies when the debate is about the existence of God. Not, It's religion and God the same thing because they are not. Creationist? here you also fall for the same ad hominem fallacy, attacking Craig's image, instead of attacking his argument. Dawkins has debated creationist before. Besides he is been criticized by atheist them self for not debating Craig.

Theory:
All these beliefs must have originated from somewhere, and surely there is a good reason for why belief in god has lasted all this time.
My theory is that every religion could very well be real (I'm Serbian Orthodox) and my theory would be that every religion has truth behind it. There is even historical accounts of these religious figures existing.
To each his own, I always say though. No matter what you believe in, we are all humans with the same soul.

Religion exists for several reasons.
1. People want answers
2. People are in general to lazy to look for answers
3. People know other people are willing to pay for answers, correct or not
4. People will believe anything if they are told often and with enough feigned conviction
5. People are habitual animals and will repeat meaningless things for "tradition"
6. People exaggerate, a lot
7. People are scared and want comfort
8. People want to feel more important than they are

Let me do a blunt interpretation for you. His answer simply is, I don't know. But if YOU'RE WRONG, then I get to enjoy everlasting life on a restored earth, while you get tossed into the Lake of Fire. And for what? Not taking 10 seconds out of your life, one time, to confess Christ as Lord? Everyone talks about how "wise" Dawkins is...more like a damn fool.

coryischosen 5 days ago
@coryischosen It's opportunity cost analysis. Christianity is the only faith which offers free, permanent salvation. You have to work in Islam to be saved. All other religions don't even offer salvation. Christianity is the best deal. I'm not trying to convince Mr. Dawkins to become a Christian, but at least believe in something! Something is better than nothing.
irufushi8 5 days ago
@irufushi8 this i feel is a classic religious arguement not beieving at all. the idea that athiests don't believe in anything at all. the things generally believed is maybe "consciousness is god" maybe the universe is only bound by the existence of humans. yet anybody should be able to admit there are severely inhuman acts in the "bible" and many contradictions. also people need to consider who has been holding the power to print books throughout the last couple thousand years.

Because I'm sure I've "misread" it
juuonse 3 days ago
@irufushi8
Your cop out is worthless.
coryischosen 4 days ago
@coryischosen What other religions offer free, permanent salvation? And no, you cannot be "damned to hell" for being in the wrong sect. Believing that Christ died for you and was raised from the dead is all it takes. Your sect/other beliefs have NO BEARING on your salvation. But once again, not believing in God puts you at a guaranteed 0% chance of everlasting life. Believing in Christ and being in ANY sect raises that percentage. Go ahead and take your chances at 0%. See how far that gets you.
irufushi8 4 days ago
@irufushi8
I suppose your comfortable in ignorance though.
coryischosen 4 days ago
@coryischosen Yes I know there are sects that believe faith alone isn't enough. But it DOESNT MATTER becuase (1) like I said, being a part of ANY sect is better than being apart of none and (2) why choose the sects that make you work? Choose the one thats easiest, but dont take it blindly, study for yourself. The entire theme of the Book of Romans is "salvation by faith". Pretty straight forward to me AND a lot of others. And by the way, I've forgotten more of the Bible than you will ever know.
irufushi8 4 days ago
@irufushi8
If your sentiment is true why not just believe a god exists that puts everyone in heaven, regardless of behavior, regardless of belief, its even easier than your solution, and wouldn't require any faith in provably false stories.
coryischosen 4 days ago
@irufushi8
Your 0% chance is also incorrect. What if a god exists and only rewards those that lived their lives rationally? What if god was evil and only rewarded those who made others suffer. What if god like surprise parties only only threw them for people who didn't think it was going to happen.
You try to imagine yourself in a better position, because it would shatter your little ego that you have no better chance at anything than anyone else.
coryischosen 4 days ago
@coryischosen The only problem is that the Rational God, Evil God, and, um your Surpise Party God have no books, no records anywhere of them existing. The Bible? irufushi8 4 days ago

coryischosen 4 days ago
@irufushi8
On another note, many other religions don't offer salvation because they say their isn't anything to save you from. You have to believe you should go to hell, before you can be saved from it. Its funny how you praise a sect of Christianity for saving you, when it is the same religion that says you deserve to go there, and not even because of anything you yourself have done wrong, just as a product of being born, picked a winner there didn't you.
coryischosen 4 days ago
@coryischosen Well you're very misinformed. Christ doesnt save you from "hell", he saves you from DEATH. "Hell" is simply a tool used for destroying the unsaved. And yes, I deserve to go there because Adam & Eve disobeyed 6000 years ago. Now we have sin in our DNA, and the wages of sin is death. So yes, technically I DO deserve to go there. But God knows this, knows it's unfair, and thats why he worked his ass off for 4000 years to bring about the savior - FOR US. Sounds like a good deal to me.
irufushi8 4 days ago

coryischosen 4 days ago 12
@coryischosen And yet once again, this shows your lack of knowledge on the subject. God created the universe but there are some things God HAD to create becuase of what he wanted. God wants us to choose him, but can't make autonomous robots that choose him by "default". So, in doing so, he must give man free will, but that, in nature, offers the possibility that man will choose something God does NOT want. There's no way around that, and not even God can change that. THAT'S why it's unfair.
irufushi8 4 days ago
@irufushi8

" how did we come into being? "

So if I don't have the answer to everything.. then you're automatically correct?
You're new at this right?

irufushi8 4 days ago
@irufushi8 " Once again, what makes yours BETTER "

" you have NO IDEA as to how we got here! At least I have SOME idea "
- You have a fairy story, so what? Lots of people have stories... doesn't help
" Can't answer my questions so you attack me personally "
- You call that an attack? You need to get out more.
So far, all you've got is " where did we come from ? "
Anything else?
Roper122 4 days ago
@Roper122 HAHA!! Extremely improbable?! Saying an intelligent being created us is LESS probable than saying we just popped into existence somehow? And you think my story is a fairy tale? Let's hear YOURS: a gazillion years ago, some mysterious force came into being (from nothing) and somehow this mysterious force (which had all the right elements) somehow collided (in the perfect way) to create this giant explosion, which ended up with life today as we know it. And you say ID is improbable? Lol
irufushi8 4 days ago
@irufushi8 im sorry but your intelligent being says that he created the sun in the 4th day, which is impossible, and says that he created vegetation on the 3rd day, which is also impossible, because vegetation cannot exist without the sun, this ends it here.

1OtherMr 2 days ago
@1OtherMr Goes to show your ignorance on the topic. God didn't CREATE the world and everything in it during a 6 day time span, hotshot. God created the world in Genesis 1:1. In Genesis 1:2, The Earth BECAME (H1961, hayah) formless and void, as a result of the war that broke out in heaven. God than took 6 days to reform it. The sun, vegetation and everything else God created before ALREADY EXISTED. Run along now you theological ignoramus.

@irufushi8
Keep making your excuses tho this is entertaining.
coryischosen 3 days ago
@coryischosen Lol, you just won't quit will you? Obviously, you have no interest in having a debate. This is a personal vendetta against Theism becuase you've had a SHITTY life and you want someone (or something) to take it out on. Well guess what? No one cares about your pathetic, crappy childhood and no one cares about the pathetic problems you've got now. SO get a damn life, stop blaming YOUR problems on others and start taking responsiblility for your own failures.
irufushi8 3 days ago
@irufushi8

And you wonder why atheists have the streotype of being rude, its because of numskulls like you. The atheist taliban loves to argue.

Ignorance is bliss huh.
coryischosen 3 days ago
@irufushi8 " Saying an intelligent being created us is LESS probable than saying we just popped into existence somehow? "
- Who said anything about " popping " into anything??
" And you think my story is a fairy tale? Let's hear YOURS "
- No, let's hear your version of what you want to think is my story. Trouble is, I don't have a " story " I have the honesty to admit that we do not know. You should try it some time.
" And you say ID is improbable? "

@Roper122 But yet...your "honesty to admit that we do not know" somehow becomes unchallengeable, scientific fact? I never heard in the classroom, "We do not know." Far from it. Bravo for your admission, perhaps you will campaign for similar honesty from your comrades.

" Bravo for your admission, perhaps you will campaign for similar honesty from your comrades "

EvangelistEvan 6 days ago
@EvangelistEvan Your comment, while lovably smug, makes no sense.
God--going by Judeo-Christian doctrine--is an infinite, eternal being: something that doesn't congeal with ANY accepted definition of "life". Also, to call God "life" implies mortality, contradicting said doctrine.
Also, the "other life in the universe" bit is a misnomer AND an ad hominem (TWO logical fallcies in one!): Heaven is--for lack of a better term--another plane of existence, and thus NOT part of our universe.
GarlicPudding 6 days ago
@EvangelistEvan (Continued) It thus follows that, when considering life elsewhere in the cosmos, realms of the afterlife can be discounted, as they are, again, other planes of existance and thus not truly "part" of our universe, in a physical, can't-get-there-any-way-besides-dying sense.
It's funny to watch a smug little snake prattle on about how stupid others are, not knowing just how stupid and arrogant he is.
They're so cute when they're clueless. :)
GarlicPudding 6 days ago
@EvangelistEvan
You refuse to do this, and until you do I see no reason to ponder a belief in it.

its all ready been proved god dosent exist. one hundred years ago every christian(and some still now) belived the earth was the centre of the universe and the only planet in the universe. the point dawkins is making is that it has been proven there is no god.
dpcrozier99 6 days ago
@dpcrozier99
Someone being wrong about one unrelated topic does not count as proof that any other given thing they say is surely false.
Furthermore, it was 400 years ago, and it was (world population - Galileo) who believed that the earth was flat and at the center of the universe.
The thing we call scientific proof requires evidence and logical analysis of the facts. Your comment comes nowhere near approaching any such thing.
FreddyBenelli 6 days ago

LiquidPromotionz 6 days ago
@LiquidPromotionz you clearly didnt understand a word he said then. did you not realize this was richard dawkins, who wrote the god delusion, and now you claim he belives in god, just shut up.he made the point that any stupid made up "god" doesnt exist because it was the people who lived here before us that invented it depending on where they lived. gettit yet dumbass???
dpcrozier99 6 days ago
@dpcrozier99 Listen you half whitted twirp, if you pay attention to what Dawkins spoke of in the debate yesterday, you will understand that his view of God is completely different to the one that you say he is posing. Do not act all condescending to me as I am a current Philosophy student at university and I guarantee that I am far more qualified and informed about Dawkins then you are.
LiquidPromotionz 6 days ago
@LiquidPromotionz In the God Delusion, by no means does he rule out the option for the existence of a greater, supreme being. He is simply addressing the common problem associated with the traditional Genesis idea of who and what God is, the classical theist perspective. 2. Do you have proof that God does not exist? If not, then how can you be 100% sure God doesn't exist?
3. Do you admit you could wrong? As a Christian and Creationist, I humbly admit I could be wrong. What about you? Do you admit you could be wrong?

EvangelistEvan 6 days ago
@EvangelistEvan Listen, I don't reject god.Rejecting would imply I actually believe he existsin order to reject him. Satanists reject god, while I disbelieve that one exists. All he has do is reveal himself to me and the world IN PERSON and i would have no problem worshipping and praising him. Second of all why did you you completely ignore my argument that fear is no reason to believe? Keep in mind I will not respond to anymore comments. Thank you.

Are you 100% sure no life exists anywhere in the entire universe besides Earth? Yes or No?
If no, then how can you count out a God living somewhere in the universe?
EvangelistEvan 4 days ago
@shortdrummer991 granted, but as long as they aren't harming themselves or others, why not just let people that believe what they wish? there are surprisingly few certainties in this universe and some people may wish to believe that there is a heaven because it brings them peace of mind.
this is, however, predicated on the assumption that they are not harming themselves or others with their own beliefs. if they ARE harming themselves or others, that's a different matter entirely.
WMBrown 5 days ago
@WMBrown I agree entirely. I'm not saying people can't believe what they want and I understand how emotionally gratifying it is to believe that someone or something is protecting you. I was just replying to his question and i thought i would reply to him and give my insight. Big mistake. I realize that trying to reason with a deeply devoted christian is like telling a brick wall to collapse. (Sorry if I sounded like I hate religion, I really don't)
shortdrummer991 5 days ago
@shortdrummer991 which is unfortunate... if they cannot take a step back and realize that preaching to people that have no interest isn't going to bring them to their side... conversion by the sword has NEVER worked, if anything, it's only led to lip-service.
what i do find very frightening is the "holier than thou" attitude... if they take the time to read and understand the bible, they would know that they need to be humble, not boastful. hubris IS one of the deadly sins afterall.
WMBrown 5 days ago
@WMBrown

@205whiteboy " how bout "well if I'm wrong I guess I'm fucked!" Does that work for you? =] "

So, to be fair.. your comment wasn't logical, and your answer was mediocre..at best.
But hey, if it was just a joke, that's cool... but it wasn't particularly funny.
