  • How come this is the only answer Dawkins gives for any question?

  • I ain't no retarded fish frog! :p

  • What Dawkins is actually saying is: the odds are on my side, honey!

  • I could be wrong but at least I have all the evidence.

  • This is nicely done!

  • Yeah pound that monkey hole

  • besides athiests preety much agree we'd rather be in hell for all eternity than lick the books of the, just horrible Christian god. and also the fact the christian god and theories about heaven and hell are less likely that the spagetti monster anyways.

  • i love you allah .

  • religious people are retards

  • lol i was thinking this was going to be a parody because i thought it was from South Park and at the end i was like...... ooooohhhhh

  • I have a better question: Why is nobody working on a hoverboard?

  • Even if we all believe in wrong gods for the wrong reasons and it all is a projection of the mind and evolution....it still does not deny excistence of A God anyway...(This might need thinking over for some). Not trying to find a loophole, just being realistic that humans can be wrong about things in the universe, but that does not mean that when you are wrong about something, that there isn't a right way...

  • @Improtherapy " Even if we all believe in wrong gods for the wrong reasons and it all is a projection of the mind and evolution....it still does not deny excistence of A God anyway "

    - So?

" just being realistic that humans can be wrong about things in the universe "

    - Which is pretty much what Dawkins said.

  • strong point don in the animation i LIKE. kind of like a cool mashup of two things i LIKE. How come christians think their write but then other ones do too? It's like, come on people we're all retarded get ur shit str*8 no one knows what it's like to live life we're only living life.

  • Why are the (expected) countless millions of transitional fossils missing?

  • @robertfusion Transitional fossils are in abundance. You can visit a museum, read a book or visit Wikipedia's page on transitional fossils, it is very comprehensive!

  • @psychwardmovies ..no you mean ALLEGED transitional fossils.......Other scientists say they are merely extinct species or deformed by illness ie rickets of existing species

  • @robertfusion Well of course they are extinct. What does that have to do with it? You obviously don't understand the science & that's okay, it's quite complex, but you've trust others that don't either. There is no high level working scientist in the field that does not accept this, so don't say other scientist believe otherwise, they don't. Why are pushing against this? You clearly have an agenda. What is it?

  • @robertfusion Name on serious scientist who doesn't accept evolution.

  • @robertfusion

Secondly, Fossils arent really... Jumping up of the ground going "Hey! Im a fossil! Find me!"

  • @andreas55k Also it takes very specific and special circumstances to form a "fossil." We got lucky with a lot of dinosaurs with the circumstances in which they died, in tar, widespread very quickly and what not. But after that, the earth-wide catastrophes thinned out lol

  • hey juju is cool man

  • For those who think he didn't answer the question:

You just didn't understand the answer. It was a pointless question for obvious reasons and only idiots ask it. Technically he didn't answer it, but he explained why it's pointless in answering.

  • @mikeymikemikey1 "You just didn't understand the answer." "Technically he didn't answer it."

    Which is it?

  • @wildhorse1986 I'm guessing you're religious.

  • @mikeymikemikey1 I am a Christian. Why do you ask?

  • @wildhorse1986 Because you refuse to understand even though it is quite clear. Basically the definition of a religious person.

  • @mikeymikemikey1 The response "what if you are wrong (though fancifully put) is not a proper answer. You can also believe that of me if you wish - though you are wrong.

  • @wildhorse1986 see you don't understand, you're like child. You are acting like Christianity is the only religion.

  • @mikeymikemikey1 Only religion? No. Only way to be saved and go to heaven, yes. I would put my life on it.

  • @wildhorse1986 But it's not the only way to be "saved". There are other religions which all claim the same thing, are they wrong?

  • @mikeymikemikey1 He didn't explain why it's pointless. He got pissy and decided to lash out by throwing the focus onto her rather than answer the question. In essence, he just "answered" her question with another question. What I gleam from this is that she wanted to know how he would have reacted personally if he was hypothetically wrong. To question that seems perfectly valid to me. Dawkins was letting his ego get in the way of reason, which he often does.

  • So... he avoided actually answering the question. what if he is wrong?

  • @wildhorse1986 Did Dawkins avoid answering the question?

Hmm, does the Pope shit in the woods?

  • @ColostomyCake First thing, yes he did. All he did was deflect the question and answer it with a series of statements or other questions.

As far as the pope? Where does the pope come in to it?

I am sure he might do one in the woods if he was camping.

  • @wildhorse1986 "Does the pope shit in the woods" is a common phrase used in england to answer a stupid question if the answer is "no," both questions have the same answer you see.

If you can't understand the implication of that you probably aren't capable of refuting Dawkins over the internet. Just saying.

  • @ColostomyCake I know that. It is just a stupid phrase.

The fool is just stroking his ego by deflecting, nothing more and nothing less. He didn't give any answer of real substance. You obviously think yourself as being more intellectual than a lot of other people with a faith and obviously more so than myself.

  • @wildhorse1986 The answer is so obvious he really doesn't need to give it. He was simply showing how the question doesn't just apply to atheists. Not hard to understand. His question and her question have the same answer.

And more intellegent than yourself? Does a bear shit in the woods?

  • Comment removed

  • @wildhorse1986 What makes you think I aren't a Christian? Is it the simple fact I can understand the reasoning behind Dawkin's response? Or should I say, is it because I aren't "blind" to it because of my "pride"

Interesting, it's quite clear now where your problem lies.

  • he didnt aswer the question...

  • Sure is allot of crazy in the comments under this gem'

  • Jesus! There are so many ignorant, close-minded people arguing here. First of all, it's a stupid question. And for you frustrating Christians out there, no, Dawkins did not technically answer the question. Does this matter?? No! He gave perfectly legitimate reasons as to why he did not answer the question.

  • if a jew is bad, a jew jew is the apocalypse

  • @Casmir1100 Common reason tells me that 100 years ago there were more believers, in comparison to the total population, than today. Christianity, together with other religions, is actually loosing popularity, until it gets steady on the level of ancient religions (Thor, Ra etc)

  • He didn't answer the bleedy question. All he really implied was it doesn't really matter because upbringings form our sense of reality.

  • His answer failed to address that there are Christians in India, the ancient Greeks became Christians, Africa is the fastest growing Christian population, oh yeah those barbarian hoardes became Christians. So wherever you go people convert to Christianity. Southeast Asia? Yeah we're there too. His answer exposed his own ignorance. Thats okay.

  • @Casimir1100 Muslims could say that about Islam. Islam is spreading too and population of muslims keeps rising. That doesnt mean theres any truth to Islam. Anyway, the reason christianity is spreading is mostly because of missionaries. The reason the christian sect even became big to begin with is because emperor Constantin of Rome converted and made christianity the main religion of the empire. If not, christianity would maybe not even exist today.

  • @Casimir1100 if there had been viking missionaries, you'd believe in Thor today.

  • @Casimir1100 Casimir were you born stupid or just dropped on your head? He answered the question quite neatly, but you and most christians are too stupid to get it.

  • @bartyfarslar No he didn't. And you are rude...apologize please.

  • @Casimir1100 No fail there. He used generalizations. You're just to stupid to grasp such a simple concept. Do you know why xians spread? Because the roman empire started converting with the sword, then the succeding european empires did. Religious people even convert, when they don't feel their brand of religion suits their taste. If he should've addresses all that, then the answer would be way to convoluted!

  • @tristbjorn "too stupid" but they probably haven't covered that in your english class yet. Starting a sentence with because also belies your lack of intelligence, and stop confusing Islam with Christianity. Your ignorance speaks volumes. So tell you what...I'm gonna cut you a break. Finish high school, move out of your parents house get a life and get back to me when you get a clue. Until then I will pray for you. God bless you.

  • @Casimir1100 curious, have you read any of the quran?

  • @ProgramG

"have you read any of the quran?"

Have you read the part which says how longa widow who hasnt reached puberty should wait before remarrying, do you agree with that? Please explain.

  • @gorilla199uncensored im an atheist, in hindsight it does sound like im advocating islam. but i was asking him because if you take a moderate approach to religion, the quran, bible, and torah are pretty much the same book. hence why they are called "abrahamic" religlions. abraham, moses, and jesus are in all. he says dont confuse islam with christianity when they are very much alike.

  • @ProgramG Exactly, they are very much alike. If you were to take 3 cars, lets say porsches, with the same engine, the same chassis, the same interior etc, but the paint would be a different color on all 3. That would be an accurate analogy of christianity(and all its offshoots), islam and judaeism. The same basic shit, but with a different color. It's still shit though. :P

  • TEA POTS DO FLY, YOU FUCK.

  • @SESdisciple I lold so hard ; )

  • He really should have peppered in the phrase "suck it" somewhere.

  • I like that line from the Rim Diaries. "Man is the only creature on earth to claim a god, and the only creature that behaves as if he hasn't got one."

  • U know he never actually answered the question. His answer was "well what if your wrong." Thats not an answer. If he is wrong then his theories are wrong and cant be used to support what ever idea he is using them for. Thats the answer.

  • @kooooolmatt his answer was due to the fact that the question was so abstract and dodgy, he had no choice but to point it out. there is no answer to the question because there are millions of religions and thus 'what if your wrong' is meaningless. wrong about what. what if she's wrong.

  • @IfinduIgetu ...You can " say " anything you like about DNA... You can " prove " very little. Unfortuntely for you, it's been tried before, money and time is constantly thrown at I.D. And it gets nowhere.

  • How long did this animation take you? It looks like an authentic South Park animation.

  • @DagoRamirez88

    Could have fooled me :P

  • After the "punchline", he should've picked up the mic and just drop it on the floor.

  • @thyczko2 my answer to that is what if we are both wrong? we get to the pearly gates and Mohammed is there not jesus, the we see Bin laden is laughing at both of us as we ride the escalator to hell

  • @Looptydude All have sinned = Bin Laden, Richard Dawkins, Mohammed, Hitler, Julia Golding.

The wages of sin is death.

You are saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not by works, least anyone should boast about the length of his beard, the number of his wives, abiogenesis or flying planes into buildings

  • @Thechristiancullen Hey bro I am christian and keep my faith in christ everyday but I love science it is Gods explanation for everything and maybe evolution and genetics (defenitly genetics) is Gods answer to how and not why.

  • @IfinduIgetu I am sorry brother but when did I state that science and evolution are exclusive to atheism?

Science v faith is like saying physics v philosophy or apples v how to raise a teenager. They have different roles and can be reconciled.

  • He didn't answer the question.

  • @iLuvAkeys4ever LOL, yes he did.

  • Pound that Monkey hole

  • Did anyone else notice that he never actually answered the question?

  • @mrBILBOBAGGENS Why should he? It was a pointless question. That was the point of his answer.

  • @mrBILBOBAGGENS yeah....hes seems to do that a lot, he seems to answer question with another question or just drifts off lol

  • @mrBILBOBAGGENS What did you expect him to say, "Well, I guess I'll be tormented forever by a large evil demon with a pitchfork in a giant easy bake oven"? A question that simplistic and ridiculous can only be answered the way he did, by making the questioner realize that things like culture and religion occur only by where you happen to have been born, which no one has control over.

  • "If you had been brought up in Classical Greece, you'd believe in buttsecks." Fixed that for you.

  • this is really well animated...almost looks like southpark...

  • If I'm wrong as an atheist, there was a 50 percent chance all the way, if I'm wrong in any other religion and there is a god, well then I'm really fucked

  • @FreestateofOkondor All works based religions are no different to atheism. ie all think they are not that bad, deny original sin and reject that Jesus is Lord.

  • Swag.

  • No one knows God quite like the Atheist. For he has come down from the mountaintop with a blank slate to tell us all that God doesn't exist!

  • Christianity is for ugly white girls. Atheism is for ugly white boys.

  • Evolution has been proven using game theory. Look it up, fundamentalists... oh wait, never mind. You're too stupid and pig-ignorant to even try to understand.

  • "most simplest"

  • hahaha

  • Dawikins believes himself in intelligent designer, he just not thinks it's a personal God.

He says God would require too much explanation. Well if the were were no creator nothing would need an explanation. wouldn't the non existence of God require even more explanation. My favorite one is, when science has showed a clear designer to be very possible, naturalist believe it's just accident, and that my friends is philosophical faith. You see science does not take sides. It's what you believe in..

  • @caruya

This is the dumbest shit I read today.

  • Lol making more ad hominem errors, if the argument does not satisfy you it does not make it any less wrong or right. All I hear from every one is attacks against the personality of the debaters and not the arguments them self. You won't admit atheism is just a naturalistic philosophical view and does not make it any different than a theistic philosophical view, they are both beliefs. We just ask even further you just settle down for "chance" or "accident" who is the close minded now

  • @caruya " You won't admit atheism is just a naturalistic philosophical view and does not make it any different than a theistic philosophical view, they are both beliefs "

    - Yup, one is based on evidence and the other is not.

Both are beliefs, but that does not make them equally valid, or equally credible.

Believing in unicorns is a belief too...

" you just settle down for "chance"... who is the close minded now "

    - You are... you just settle for " god "

    Anymore pointless statements?

  • @Roper122 Lol what evidence? The information in the DNA is one of the strongest evidence for a designer. Naturalist believe that, that information is all accident and random. Nobody knows how such complex coded information came from. Laws of nature don't have creative abilities, its just where that information operates on. Your only evidence is to say it was an "accident" you might as well believe in a monkey typing Shakespeare. So I'm a still the close minded and stupid?

  • @caruya Around 98% of human DNA is non-coding. Why would an intelligent designer put so much junk in there?

  • @MrRobinjam It's not junk it's just mostly unknown, besides that information it's known to have huge potential and it's been linked with uniqueness of a human. DNA is an ultimate mass memory "device" Who knows what we find find later, the point it that it has the potential to develop a fully unique self conscious human being.

  • @caruya No, it's junk. The genes it codes for are inactive in humans. This is in fact one piece of evidence in favour of evolution.

  • @caruya " The information in the DNA is one of the strongest evidence for a designer. "

    - No it's not, it's simply information.

" Nobody knows how such complex coded information came from "

    - Evolution

"| Laws of nature don't have creative abilities "

    - Evolution

" Your only evidence is to say it was an "accident"

    - Or....evolution

" So I'm a still the close minded and stupid? "

    - Now that I'll agree with

  • @Roper122 I'm a christian and believe in evolution and I am going to get my PhD in Genetics and I can say that yes DNA is a strong piece of evidence.

  • @Roper122 Give an example of new information in any organism.

  • @kooooolmatt Grow up.... if you want to prove evolution wrong, go and win a Nobel prize...

Otherwise ... blow hot air somewhere else.

As far as his answer.. you just said if he was wrong then his theories are wrong...

But that's the whole point of the question... the question assumes he is wrong...

Your answer was a non-answer. A complete waste of time...

Dawkins on the other hand pointed out the limitations of the question.

    Anything else?

  • @Roper122 That would be the answer to any question like that. The whole point of science is to figure out the truth. Theories are the conclusions we get from tests and observations. The obvious answer to the question "what if you are wrong?" is then my theories are wrong and new ones should be found. But yes he did point out that what if we are wrong about anything or everything. We cant just assume we r wrong but figure out if we are. He still didnt answer the question is my point.

  • @kooooolmatt that's not the obvious answer that's a redundant answer: "what if you are wrong?" "then I would be wrong"

the question was implying if Dawkins was wrong he would be going to hell and it was that type of implication he was addressing... it's a stupid question to ask and he explained why

  • @Roper122 The latest NASA testing have shown that cometary bodies with the right chemical composition impacted the earth with the earliest DNA present. The chemical reaction to create the DNA was stimulated by the suns radiation. I guess the international space station was good for something after all...... like explaining the beginning of life. Its critics over the expense can go screw themselves.

  • @Roper122 "Nobody knows how such complex coded information came from" - good point there actually, even the guys who discovered DNA admit that it doesn't make sense for something as complex and intelligible as DNA to have evolved out Earth's primordial soup. Francis Crick wrote a book theorizing that DNA came to Earth from another planet via asteroid or something (see panspermia theory) so yeah, maybe DNA did evolve, just not on Earth perhaps?

  • @caruya "So I'm a still the close minded and stupid?"

    Yes.

  • @caruya Atheism is not a belief system its a lack of a belief system. It says you don't believe that there is a god. Not that you believe there is no god.

Putting the atheist position as being "chance or accident" doesn't tell the story properly. There are scientific theories about how things work (big bang, evolution) and these explain (to an extent) why the universe and life are as they are. While "Accident" suggests outside interference and "chance" ignores how the universe works.

  • @caruya ok first of all, tell me where or when darwin said that and don't just put words in his mouth, second, show me ONE work of a natural scientist where he says that the existence of a creator is as much possible as its non-existence and finally, it's NOT JUST ACCIDENT, evolution has nothing to do with accident, just like your muscles don't get bigger by chance but because you exercise, evolution happens because species adapt

  • This is what happens when you think a million seller scientist has the authority to answer the most fundamental questions. And yet it's too scare to debate William Lane Craig. If he thinks WLC is wrong then wouldn't that even a bigger reason to debate him. LOL

  • @caruya " This is what happens when you think a million seller scientist has the authority to answer the most fundamental questions "

    - Do you actually think that was a fundamental question??

" And yet it's too scare to debate William Lane Craig "

    - The only time he was in a debate with Craig, it went so badly for Craig that he ended up calling the other side bigots.

By your logic Craig is scared of anyone who he wont debate.

Meanwhile Kagan and Law destroyed Craig.

    Anything else?

  • @Roper122 Lol No one has of them has won WLC you guys don't even listen to what Craig says. And Lennox by the way humiliated Dawkins.

  • @caruya " No one has of them has won WLC "

    - Oh really, so where exactly do you think Shelly Kagan went wrong against Craig? Since the common agreement ( even among theists ) is that Kagan trounced Craig?

" And Lennox by the way humiliated Dawkins "

    - Oh I see.. is that why Lennox was caught out lying about Dawkins after the second debate? Seems Lennox made an idiot out of himself ( correction, a bigger idiot )

  • @caruya Scientists don't have all the answers, but the answers they possess are supported by evidence and fallible. Dawkins refuses to debate with creationists since it would give them undeserving recognition. Craigs whole concept is based on broad assumptions not supported by any real evidence. Craig is really good at debating but his concept is flawed. The only way Craig wins debates its not based on the content but his debating techniques.

  • Yeah he knows HOW to debate, unlike his opponents who constantly fall for easy straw man or genetic fallacies when the debate is about the existence of God. Not, It's religion and God the same thing because they are not. Creationist? here you also fall for the same ad hominem fallacy, attacking Craig's image, instead of attacking his argument. Dawkins has debated creationist before. Besides he is been criticized by atheist them self for not debating Craig.

  • @caruya So actual facts mean nothing and its your rhetoric and way with words that win you a debate?

  • Theory:

All these beliefs must have originated from somewhere, and surely there is a good reason for why belief in god has lasted all this time.

My theory is that every religion could very well be real (I'm Serbian Orthodox) and my theory would be that every religion has truth behind it. There is even historical accounts of these religious figures existing.

To each his own, I always say though. No matter what you believe in, we are all humans with the same soul.

    :-)

  • @GGGriggs

    Religion exists for several reasons.

    1. People want answers

    2. People are in general to lazy to look for answers

    3. People know other people are willing to pay for answers, correct or not

    4. People will believe anything if they are told often and with enough feigned conviction

    5. People are habitual animals and will repeat meaningless things for "tradition"

    6. People exaggerate, a lot

    7. People are scared and want comfort

    8. People want to feel more important than they are

  • @GGGriggs Except souls are not real and religion is a cancer on this world.

  • Disneyland is real, because there is evidence of it, why don't they believe that?

  • This is good - love the animation

  • owned...

  • What if im wrong?

THEN WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE RUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

  • He never did answer the question.

  • @cazinger It is not a question to be answered like "how many fingers there are in my hand?". What do you expect? An answer like: "if I'm wrong, ok, apologizes, you're right?". He says the best possible answer for such a void question: there is no ultimate reason to believe in a particular god because the biggest part of your decision to asume a particular religion is purely contextual. There is nothing to discuss about this.

  • @cazinger question was crap and answer was obvious burn in some sort of hell for ever i guess...

  • I haven't even read the comments yet, but knowing YouTube and how stupid the people who frequent it are, I can tell there's going to be some bullshit debate going on just because of the title of this video.

  • [drop the mic]

  • OK sir, but what if your once again wrong about what you just told me?.....

  • he didnt answer the question

  • @TheKurtChaney

I'm not sure what point there is in replying to you, seeing as how you obviously can't reason out answers longer than one word. He did answer the question. He specifically stated he could be wrong, but in choosing any answer, you could be just as wrong. It isn't a true or false question, there are an infinite number of answers that COULD be correct, but no evidence for any of them, and damnation from the others, for any one you choose to be.

  • @coryischosen i didnt say anything about having a point of view or being a member of any faith.... i said " he did not answer the question"

  • @coryischosen did he answer it .... or did he turn the question around.

  • @TheKurtChaney

So I was right in assuming you couldn't grasp an answer that was too long for you. I'm sure some sesame street may be a bit more up your alley.

  • @coryischosen he did nto answer it. he threw out a new question. . and you cant admit that.

you up so much at defending atheism that you cant see anything else. remember i never said i was part of any religion you just went on assuming and defending what you think im attacking . get a life dude

  • @TheKurtChaney

Let me do a blunt interpretation for you. His answer simply is, I don't know. He then goes onto say he doesn't have answer because, if atheism is incorrect, there are still an infinite of answers that could be. At no point would him being wrong imply that Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Wicca, or any other religion or belief currently being practiced or long since forgotten would be. If you listened objectively you would have understood that.

  • @coryischosen well he believes in nothing so if he is wrong one of the others might be correct . so he did not answer , all he did was spin and ask another question .

  • @coryischosen i really dnt care to hear anymore so please dnt reply. nothing worse than talking to someone who thinks their smarter than you and will do anything they can to validate it.

  • @TheKurtChaney

I can translate your babble too. You said "I'm going to throw a hissy fit, because he didn't answer the way I want him too, and until I feel validated I'm going to cry like a bitch."

  • @coryischosen hey guy all i said to start was ................he didnt answer . now quit talking to me . damn. are so so concerned with getting you point across that you have to pester people.

  • @TheKurtChaney

Judging by your first comment you wanted an answer, I told you one was there and gave you a chance to review and find it. You insisted it wasn't so I provided you with one. Don't start whining when your faced with your own intellectual laziness.

  • God is Fake!

  • @faepmagn7 GOD IS DOG!

  • Let me go ahead and answer that. I believe in God, but if I'm wrong, then I simply suffer the same fate as you - death with no possibility of return. But if YOU'RE WRONG, then I get to enjoy everlasting life on a restored earth, while you get tossed into the Lake of Fire. And for what? Not taking 10 seconds out of your life, one time, to confess Christ as Lord? Everyone talks about how "wise" Dawkins is...more like a damn fool.

  • @irufushi8

You realize of course that, by accepting Jesus as your saviour you have condemned your self to islamic hell. Why doesn't that frighten you, are you a damn fool. Now reread your last comment and realize how silly you sound.

  • @coryischosen It's opportunity cost analysis. Christianity is the only faith which offers free, permanent salvation. You have to work in Islam to be saved. All other religions don't even offer salvation. Christianity is the best deal. I'm not trying to convince Mr. Dawkins to become a Christian, but at least believe in something! Something is better than nothing.

  • @irufushi8 this i feel is a classic religious arguement not beieving at all. the idea that athiests don't believe in anything at all. the things generally believed is maybe "consciousness is god" maybe the universe is only bound by the existence of humans. yet anybody should be able to admit there are severely inhuman acts in the "bible" and many contradictions. also people need to consider who has been holding the power to print books throughout the last couple thousand years.

  • @emersonmakebest Name some of the "inhuman acts" and "contradictions" in the Bible. Last time I checked, there aren't any.

  • @irufushi8

First off christianity is not the only faith which offers free, permanent salvation, or you could make up your own, like all the others that exist.

You want to know something funny, even within Christianity, you can be damned to hell for having the wrong beliefs and being in the wrong sect. You don't escape the problem, I proposed. One can require that Jesus be god in the flesh, others disallow that and call him only a prophet. Your cop out is worthless.

  • @coryischosen What other religions offer free, permanent salvation? And no, you cannot be "damned to hell" for being in the wrong sect. Believing that Christ died for you and was raised from the dead is all it takes. Your sect/other beliefs have NO BEARING on your salvation. But once again, not believing in God puts you at a guaranteed 0% chance of everlasting life. Believing in Christ and being in ANY sect raises that percentage. Go ahead and take your chances at 0%. See how far that gets you.
