1981... boom box... Catskills... me and my cuz... singing at the top of our lungs outside when nobody was around. Ah, pure happiness, and I can still feel it. Journey was my favorite group -Steve's voice, Neil's guitar solos, amazing songs and lyrics, I got nothing but pure love and gratitude for the music.
I remember 4 years ago in grade 8 when I had no clue what Journey was and a man talking to us about music told us straight up that if we've never heard of this song we needed a serious reality check....hahaha ohh did I EVER get a reality check :)
It still blows my mind that this song is the last thing Tony Soprano heard in this world. But if ya gotta go, this jam is as good a sendoff as anything.
Today marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Journey's "Escape" album, which rocketed Journey to superstardom on the wings of timeless ballads "Don't Stop Believin'", "Open Arms", "Mother Father", and rockers "Stone in Love", "Escape". Fueled by Steve Perry's effortless, soaring vocals, Neil Schon's burning leads, and Jonathan Cain's beautiful keyboards, with "Escape", Journey's transformation was fully realized and the magic of the music has stood the test of time after all these years!!
luv this song, out school loves it, on long bus rides, we always sing it. the bus was at a red light, and a hobo smoking was outside, and we sang it to him and he gave us a thumbs up and laughed :) actually, sorry. he wasnt a hobo
@RockBand2Freak78 thats so cool, i've always tried but failed. someone (he's in seventh grade now) well we all had a school play, and we all hated choir but did it with all our friends, and on the night of the musical, the teacher left the room for a minute while we were supposed to be getting ready, but the dude started playing this on the piano and we all sang this instead :)
the best...ohhhh yeaaaa thats music....

Steve Perry had the balls to say he never felt like Journey, when in fact he is the reason they were so successful in the first place.
