  • the cicadas at the end reminds me of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni....

    Oyashiro-sama!

  • Shingles! Ouch! I'm glad to hear you're doing better! Looks like this trip was a lot of fun, though!

  • Oh and what game were they playing on the stairs at 11:31?

  • Hello Th33k, This game is called 'Gu-ri-ko'. I have another video called "Children Playing at a Japan Shinto Shrine' in which I explain the rules of the game and what the kids are saying. It's a lot of fun. -Kurt :-)

  • What is the thing at 8:40?

  • Hello Th33k, That insect is similar to a grasshopper and is called 'bata' in Japanese. They are everywhere in this area during the warm months. :-)

  • 5 stars

  • I truly enjoy your videos, you always have some thing intresting or funny to show us =) and since i subscribed to you, you have become some what of my every day hero. I kinda looking forward to become like you, a great father and adventurer :)

Just curios, I have noticet that there apers to be quite alot of leeches where you live and I have always wanted to visit japan but i have fear for leeches. so i just wonder if there are as many leeches over entire japan as there are where you live.

  • Hello Ranechh, Thank you for your nice words. I'm sorry for my delay in response as I was in the hospital for the last week (doing great now!). :-)

There are indeed many leeches in this particular area of Japan and we have to be quite careful when walking in wet patches during the hot and humid months. I'm not as familiar with other areas of Japan and cannot say if leeches are as common though I suspect that they are less often found in the colder northern areas. Thanks again! -Kurt :-)

  • Sorry for all the questions, but why did you have to go to the hospital?

  • Hello Th33k, Thanks for asking. I had Shingles which is a nasty viral infection of the nerve cells on one part of the body (the face in my case). This infection is terribly painful and can cause serious problems such as lose of vision or hearing. I got through alright though I will likely remain in pain for several more weeks. Thank goodness for strong medicine! -Kurt :-)

  • Oh my goodness! I hope you get better soon!

  • What a great outing! The memories are priceless!...I'm glad you guys didn't run into any giant hornets!

  • That looked like a great family day! What was the game the kids were playing on the steps?

Poor Emily! Leeches scare me o.o
