  • I live in Northern Ohio and we close school a lot even though we get a lot of snow. We close if we even get 5" of snow. We closed this past year (2008-2009) cause over night lows were -18F and it was windy and snowy, and the roads froze over with salt not helping so all the roads were a sheet of ice. It was below zero over night for a week with highs 0-5F.

  • The weatherman even mentions a snowflake in the south and everyone runs to the grocery stores.. schools close.. its amazing.

  • @narfy lol yeah, if we get a snow day from cold it has to be 20F or lower, we can get quite a bit of snow though before a snow day. I live in Washington state.

  • i live here in barrow and winters here are harsh trust me but you get used to it

  • How does anyone get used to THAT?! I live in Buffalo and thought it was pretty rough here, but JEEZ! I hear it can even snow in the summer in Barrow. What do people do for recreation when it is cold all the time? I mean, how about an outdoor family picnic?!

  • you go snowmobiling! lol thats REALLY fun!

  • Not a lot of snow but looks really cold. I'm guessing this is in October?

  • Agaguk chunbaruk was my friend in 1953

  • HAH, you know whats funny? I actually had to go to work that day! In NARL!

  • Goodness where I live if it ever snowed like that we would all be sitting indoors and everything would be shutdown for a week. that looks really cold I was wondering what it looked like above the arctic circle it looks so cool though. I enjoy the snowy weather.

  • Do you see the Aurora Borealis often from Barrow, or is it usually overcast and blizzard at winter making it difficult to see anything?

  • can you drive to barrow??

  • NOPE. Only way in or out of Barrow is by plane!

  • MY dad says that their is a pipeline road from Fairbanks to Barrow but it is like federal use only or something like that. Dunno if it is even used anymore. most places in Alaska are like that fly to and from to get to them.

  • NOT REALLY! You can sure the hell skidoogak to Atqasuk or Wainwright or Kotz!

  • LOL yeah if you have a skidoo and if your not super tanik like me.

  • Always wondered what it was like up there. Even pretty cold in the "summer" from what I hear :-)

  • Whew!!
