  • I also was lucky enough to see Norton back in the late 70s at a day on the green at Humboldt State University and they were great! They played with Eddie Money, and I think Santana or Pablo Cruise. Such sad news. RIP Norton

  • olympia wa. surely misses him.

  • Norton Buffalo's passing has left a great void in the "Blues", that no other can fill, R.I.P. My Brother in the Blues!!!

  • My wife n I had the pleasure of seeing Norton on 6 occassions 2xs with "Roy Rogers"=INCREDIBLE MUSIC,BY BOTH!!!!THEY COMPLIMENED EACH OTHER ,& NORTON WAS & IS THE VERY BEST HARP PLAYER TO EVER LIVE! R,I.P. My Brother you are surely missed here on Earth!

  • miss you Norton

  • I had never heard of NB until one Saturday night, when my ex and I were looking for something on TV. Looked in the guide and saw "NB and the Stampede" were on Austin City Limits. We thought the name was so hokey that we just had to check it out...and I was dumbfounded. What a talent, what a band! Went out and bought all the NB&TS albums I could find. All two of them.

    Damned shame. RIP Norton.

    "Maybe we can stay.....another day."

  • Wonderful

  • SONOMA VALLEY

  • If there is a better harp player on this planet, Show Me! He is at a savant level.

  • Man, they just don't make green corduroy bell bottoms like they used to. :)

RIP, Norton. U are the best.

  • I got a friend that is right there with him check out The NotoriousNightCrawlers on myspace and you judge

  • Just now heard about Norton Buffalo's passing. Could have gone another couple of decades without this news. What an incredible musician; what an incredible loss.

  • My family and friends have been listening and going to see Norton since the 70's. Just saw and talked to him last year for the last time. I wish I had of known then it would be thel ast time. God we loved him! He was awesome! I am so going to miss him. Rest in peace to the best harmonica player ever!

  • This is the Norton i have so many memories of ... rest in peace

  • Wow! Norton's gone. I remember first hearing him just out of high school (1977?) at a buds house in Petaluma, listening to Eighteen Wheels and being just floored. Norton was living in Schellville, CA, near Sonoma, and would come into Bonneau's 76 station where my mom worked as an accountant. She asked him to sign my Lovin' In The Valley Of The Moon album. I still have that album. God bless you, Norton! I doubt there will ever be another as gifted as you on the harmonica. Happier days await you.

  • @kaitiura

Wish I could find a cd or mp3 downloads of it.

  • ~Rest In Peace Norton~

  • that solo is off the charts..

his having some very seriuos health problems now....

PRAY for Noton..one of the kindest people you could ever meet..and...the best harp player to EVER walk on planet earth....IMHO

  • NObody does the harp better than Norton!!!

  • @thebuoysateme I have a friend that is right there with him check out The NotoriousNightCrawlers on myspace his name is Wolf

  • i wore this record out in high school. that A harp he's playing is an octave higher than normal tuning. Wondering if its a hohner vest pocket harp which came in the high tunings or maybe its a huang like cocodrie104 sez. Anyway Norton is bad.

  • There ain't nobody who can touch him, he's the shit! I could feel that train comin' down the tracks, hot steam blowin' out the stack. Norton is a national icon and an American institution. He should have some recordings in The Smithsonian ala Woody Guthrie, etc. I would love to see him play with Derek Trucks and his band, that would be one bad ass jam...

  • awsome!!

  • Real music from real people.

  • "lovin in the valley of the moon"....every cut a treat.... amazing musician eh?

  • The name of this tune is "High Tide in Wingo" . It is off of Norton Buffalo's second album DESERT HORIZON formerly on Capitol Records. I had the pleasure of working on his harmonicas when I was a harp tech for HUANG HARMONICAS. He is seen using HUANG STAR PERFORMER harps here as he did for almost a 10 year period. No special tunings or tweaking..STOCK harmonicas.

  • Btw, any idea what year this is and where they are?

  • Love this!!! Thank you so much for sharing this. Do you have any more? Norton is an incredible performer. "Lovin in the Valley of the Moon" is one of the best albumns and song ever! Takes me back.

  • I found him! Norton Buffalo has a web site worth visiting and now I feel a fool - this isn't him! I'm so glad I persued it. And I take back my wish for four more stars on principle.

  • huh?

  • Love him!!! I wish I could find more N.B. "Lovin' in the Valley of the Moon" was great. Where is he? Also - I meant to give this a 5 star - not a 1. Oops
