  • lol this is funny because its true. i guess when you can afford to rebuild your home every couple years you are inclined to taking the risk of living in hazardous places

  • Orange County on fire? I'll celebrate that!

  • Why run? The governator has Obama and Hillary to negotiate

  • Every year I sacrafice my Children to the God of Fire.

Sometimes however...Some asshole saves him and is all "Are you ok, Do you need burn treatment".

  • I live in SoCal. ...this and mudslides happen so often, I'm surprised people who live in those areas are honestly surprised by it. XP

...when the big earthquake hits, millions are going to "be surprised" by that one too. :P

Don't think all of us being stupid for living here - there are benefits to living in these areas, otherwise we wouldn't stay. ...though I will agree with many: we honestly shouldn't be surprised by these disasters. We just have to work with it.

  • may i just ask why houses in america are built using wood? why don't they make a house that uses concrete?

  • I wonder how this years annual wildfire went. With Texas stealing most of the news time I didn't really have a chance to enjoy the Californian festivities this year =(

  • What the hell happens to his eyes at 1:30 ? lol

  • hey andrea! what does the building plan say about the new houses level?

  • As an Orange County resident I can attest to this being absolutely 100% true.

  • brilliant xD

  • That's an interesting URL.

  • @djtrixen what about poor people who cant sell their land and afford to buy somewhere else? 2 sides to a coin man

  • I know this is satire, but AIN'T THAT THE F*IN' TRUTH?!?? If you live somewhere that's prone to regular devastation and you decide not to move, it's your fault when you get flooded/burned/flattened by nature's fury every few years. YOU made the decision to live there. Nature apparently doesn't want you there... Leave!! Don't blame FEMA for not doing enough to help you. Blame yourself for not doing enough to mitigate your own loss.

  • "With over 9000 new houses". Intentional or unintentional reference?

  • @DoubleGlog hehe i know right?

  • "Bush Secretly Hoping Gas Crisis Leads To 'Road Warrior' Scenario" haha

  • @KSmithwick1989

    i sort of am too...

  • What's the issue with it being fake? You watch Fox, don't ya?

  • the thing at the end about Bush actually sounded somewhat believable. not saying that Bush wanted Road Warrior to happen but that he'd get a kick out of that happening.

  • ^^^I love the highest rated comments XD^^^

  • O_O I found my way here in a minecraft forum about ghasts...

  • @jenna223456 Minecraft Ghasts are the Number 1. Cause of Forest fires in Antartica.

  • if you dont know this is fake then your probably not old enough to be using the internet

  • WHAT 9000 ? ! THERE'S NO WAY THAT CAN BE RIGHT ! !

  • " With OVER 9000 new housing units..."

Over 9000, eh? I see what you did there.

  • lbhekjughkhnjfuh

This is so not fake! I partake in the tradition every year!

  • I really love how they take ridiculous situations in real life and make them even more ridiculous.

I know California has beautiful scenery, but really. They have wildfires every year.

  • I live in orange county, and this is so true. We all roll our eyes when this happens every year.

  • @StinkadoodlePie ...and they just rebuild like it's never going to happen again. Meanwhile everyone's insurance premiums go up to cover the past, current and future losses of the wealthy few.

  • "Bush secretly hoping gas crisis leads to 'Road Warrior' scenario."

  • The Onion News is the highest reputable source for news. i really like the about the concentric circles emanating from a red dot, it really shows how deadly they can be.

  • Most of the Fires are started by California UNION firefighters.

  • @supermoto804 but they are also put out by them.

  • My family and I enjoy the burning every year. It's like a reverse Christmas, but BETTER.

  • We are burning now! Oh the celebrations!

  • Nation's public beach lifeguards raise alertness level from 'asleep' to 'stoned.'

Lol, you should read the stuff at the bottom of the screen!

  • i wasn't able to participate :(

  • Oh yeah, the Onion is real. It is. It's real. Believe me, it's real.

  • haha, "Bush secretly hoping gas crisis will lead to a Road Warrior like scenario"

  • Fox is fake, Onion is real.

  • well this is an outrage! i thought everyone knew that the onion was real! it's a perfectly reliable news source! people these days...

  • Lol! This is funny. I used to live in San Diego, those actors did a very poor job replicating what people are like in the SW. But, who am I to complain? Great vid.!

  • Those Californians have it made: Good surf, good wine, good burns.

  • Unfortunately I am shunned as a Californian because my asshole neighbors keep coming every year to dump that foul thing called "water" on my beautifully burning home just as it was starting to burn my stash of extremely rare and original Marvel comics. Not to mention that they even have the nerve to call those firefighters to join in. All the while saying "Are you okay", "We're here to help, and some other bullshit that they could pull out of their asses.

  • can someone explain the road warrior joke? i haven't seen the movie

  • @wintersnowman

It's like Mad Max. It's a sh*thole of a world that is reduced to roving gangs, armored vehicles and generally lots of "kill or be killed". It's basically what is thought to happen when the oil runs out and the governments collapse.

Hence the whole link to Bush, as everything that retard ever did was to the human race's detriment.

  • @Revan8888 He did whatever he was told to do, just like the president before him and after him

  • 1:16 doesn't look anything like So. California.

  • 1:30

    OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I know this is comedy when they portray the Terminator as a governor.

  • @Boxcutter7 hes our actual governor, asshole...

  • @blobyjoe LOL, I know, I was making a joke about the joke that is your governor since he was a major action star & even played a murderous cybernetic organism. Has also been seen wearing belts & I think other accessories with the nazi swastika.

  • Very obvious that the Onion and CNN are run by the same people.

  • Lol this one's true, we do celebrate it xD

  • eh...as a long time so cal resident....i can say we deserve this lol.

  • Lol yea that's just about how we seem to do it here in California

  • with OVER NIIINE THOUSAAND new housing units..

  • Good reference.

  • LMAO! i noticed that too!!

  • Is this real?

  • No it isn't. Feel free to laugh hysterically.

  • @TPainWhatitDo everything by the onion is fake

  • @marble97c you are a fucking dumb motherfucker those fires were real in that, the people were fake

  • @deathchibi1 mmhm

  • It's fake people it's the onion

  • haha omg! lmaoo

  • ITS CALLED THE ONION! you stupid people! its a joke. im just glad some people know that its fake! lmao

  • LMFAO

  • @razvanPiMP No, this is a parody

  • why the fuck cant people reallise that

  • this is a fake news website that in no way pretends to be fact

  • idiot its fake news... its a comedy show you fucktard

  • they got one thing wrong. when they rebuild the mansions, they arent going to burn. in the winter, the rain will trigger mudslides that destroy the houses. THEN they build houses to reburn for the comming fire season

  • fuck the advertisements

  • I'd love to be the one to start the next fire, if they'd have me. I have lengthy experience burning ants, army men, small animals, and of course the woods behind my house, going back to when I was only three years old.

Where do I send my resume?

  • im secretly hoping for road warrior scenario too

  • I love ONN. Ever since I was little, and learned how to read and use a TV I always wondered why people would live in a place where their house would get burnt down. I'm also tired of seeing on the news how bad some wild fire was in California.

  • bush secretly hoping gas crisis leads to road warrior scenario HAHAHAHAHA

  • hahahah! i love how the onion takes this terrible event and makes it funny!

  • It's not terrible. It's idiots who don't learn and consequently deserve everything that happens to them.

  • The clip in 1:12 is very rare moment. That's the first time I've ever seen a So.Cal lane move so fast!

  • It is pretty retarted how people have beachfront houses, and houses in places like new orleans, and act shocked when a huge tidal wave or an earthquake ruins thier shit. They were asking for it. Do you like having your home ripped to pieces by huge waves? no? then don't put a house on the fucking beach, morons.

  • Stick some dynamite inside the houses and THAT will be more surprising and blame it on terrorists lol

  • And gasoline should be used as insulation!

  • This makes me miss California even more...

  • hahahahahah definitely funny if your from so-cal

  • It is. Take it from me, I know.

  • Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits apologizes to nation for 'everything we've done'.

  • victims reunited with firefighters, ambulance drivers

  • I like this one

  • how many new housing units are there?

    OVER 9000!!

  • Hehe, I didn't notice that the first time round. I love how they drop in jokes like that in such a matter-of-fact way.

  • Oh my. Very nice catch!

  • "We don't need no water let the mother Fucker Burn."

  • Comment removed

  • well this one is definitely accurate, thats for sure. the first line says it all

  • I actually liked the LAST line the best!:)

  • The Onion actually pays attention to internet memes?!? OH MY GOD THAT IS JUST TOO MUCH WIN!

  • They said "over 9000!" <33

  • lmao omg seriously. I get so tired of the fire reports.

  • fake you re re's

  • Are people ever going to learn not to build homes in areas that flood or burn every year?

  • but, the view from the second floor terrace is so pretty.....

  • GOD, I HATE when theres a fire. NOT because the fire itself, but because the fuckin' news always have to milk this fuckin' story dry!

  • this news is fake take it easy and laugh at yourself a bit.

  • lol, i know is fake, i just was telling that this is really what people here do (and since i don't have cable, it get's to your nerves!) sorry if you though i was completely oblivious to the comedy =P

  • hahahaha Over 9000

  • She said over 9000

  • OVER 9000!!!

  • THERE'S NO WAY THAT CAN BE RIGHT

  • the onion IS FAKE

HOW COME ITS SO HARD FOR YALL TO SEE THAT??????????

  • THIS IS NOT FAKE. Get your facts straight before you criticize a legitimate news source like this.

I'll have you know that the Onion is one of the most reputable news sources I know of, and these fine reporters deserve your respect.

  • LOL @ you.

  • The funniest thing ever....is that some of us believe you :)

  • I know, lol. Trolling Onion Videos is my new hobby. ;)

  • You clearly don't understand Journalism. The Onion has provided excellent coverage of news that matters for 150 years. How can a news service survive that long if it just makes up stories? Ergo, The Onion is NOT fake, and frankly they should be suing you for libel.

  • Yes. You have offended the ONN's viewers by suggesting it's not true journalism. All nine billion of us.

  • @remkade lol ONN is way more accurate than FOX ^.^

  • @remkade dude.. its fake

  • @marble97c You seriously think this is fake? I bet you think this is funny too. These people in California lose their houses, and groups like the Onion are there to inform us. The Onion is not to be mocked. Thankfully its only the extreme outliers of society that think the Onion is fake.

I am just flabbergasted that some people, despite the clear video proof offered in this very video, refuse to believe the facts.

  • @remkade u are so lost so much words cannot describe

  • @marble97c just one of the many who obviously doesnt know a spoof when he sees one. :p let him think its real. :) haha

  • @FrootLoop246 haha ok :p

  • @marble97c I think it's a joke! :)

  • @ralykSNtepnatS i know its a joke all the onion is a joke

  • @remkade By your definition, anyone who ever speaks or writes ill of anything can be sued for libel. That's actually not the case; we have this little thing called the Bill of Rights. It protects, among other things, our right to speak freely. You can't just say someone's opinion is slanderous and sue them; they're entitled to it. P.S. No, you can't sue me for saying this, but you're welcome to try.

  • @cyanmanta Sigh, he was being sarcastic dude.

  • @remkade if you think this is fake come out of your hole for once and then tell us if its fake or not

  • @marble97c This is completely real. I wish you could understand ridiculous it is that you continue to deny the truth that is plainly in front of you. The Onion does a fine job of bringing us news that the Mainstream Media doesn't have the the courage to report. Sadly some people don't respect this and try to besmirch the reputation of a great news organization.

  • @remkade your ether joking or fucking retarded

  • @CrackingZombie wow shut up idiot this is real, and you're retarded if you think it's fake, idk how that rumor even got started

  • @1danyol1 ok dude i really need to know at this point if your kidding or not and if your please elaborate on your retarded thought process

  • @CrackingZombie The Onion was the one claiming to be around for 150 years. It also claims to be able to pull headlines from hundreds of years in the future.

I am -pretty sure- that it is all in jest.

  • Haha

  • Yes, we rebuild.

Every area has their crappy faults. Some places have hurricanes, some places have tornadoes, and some are too friggin cold. We just have huge fires and earthquakes.

  • xD yeah lucky u!

  • Texas is a good state....anyway why the hell do we have these crazy ass fires every year in SoCal?

  • global warming!!! it's coming to get you!!!! runnnnn!!!

  • because southern california is next to hell

    north CA ftw

  • lol

  • if by hell you mean Mexico, then yes.

  • Texas has enough areas that regularly see similarly damaging floods, sinkholes, and hurricanes.

  • over 9000 new housing units? Lol

  • woohooo

  • do people actually rebuild in those areas?

you think they'd have enough sense to come to Texas, the Tornadoes often miss us and just hit Oklahoma.

    It's Red River Magic

  • i was born in texas, ad i have had tornadoes go all around us but never been hit. i love texas, no other state like it

  • same experiences I've had in my 17 years in this awesome State.

For some reason other people don't like it, usually because of rumors that are true about Arkansas and not Texas.

    The un-informed I guess.

  • yes, people actually do rebuild in areas that burn all the time and are then surprised when it burns once again!

  • The rich mountain-folk are always the first to go. It's pretty sad...

  • that is sooooo true. I always watch the news reports of these crazy californians who are determined to live in the forest and rebuild in the same place after every fire. Also, those crazies who refuse to leave their house when fires are coming, for one crazy reason or another.

  • Southern California

*Southern*, don't group us with those cromagnums. We haven't even invented fire yet up here.

  • Shit... I live in northern California, and there's nothing like those god-damn wildfires! Last year there was so much smoke from all the fires that it would burn your throat and eyes if you spent too long outdoors. This year, shockingly, we've gone the whole summer so far without a major fire.

  • woohoo fire buddys with aus. we should have some club thing so we could have meetings it would be awesome

  • lol I live in Australia right where we had our last huge bushfire... somehow all of that seems very familiar :?

O.C and Aus are Fire buddies :D

  • OMG! I live in New York, but I would be HONOURED to be fire buddies with Australia. Notice I spelled "honored" with a 'u' as a show of solidarity? Wink wink, mate.

  • Yea it is like a tradition.

  • lol 0:45 - 0:55 "popeyes chicken and biscuits apologizes to nation for 'everything we've done'"

  • Sorry, that last fire was me.

  • a parade fleeing for thier lives lolololololololol

  • That is so unbeliveably true, I've lived in Orange County my whole life, and I can't ever remember a year where we haven't had at least one brushfire. Some of my earlies memories are of taking the dogs and our stuff over to a relative's when the fires got too close. My house has never burned down thankfully

  • ROFL! this is so true here in california our wildfires are praticly a tradition XD

  • with OVER 9000! new housing units...

    lol xD

  • Lol this video is true.

    I get evacuated yearly.
