  • I love this new/old version))))))))))))

  • I miss you dear friend....come home soon.

  • beautiful

  • I came on the solo.

  • shit i hate when i accidentaly push dislike button -_- Youtube should delete this

  • Excellent clip, great upload! Hadn't seen that footage before. Animals has to be my favourite Floyd album, lyrically biting with exceptional guitar work.

I can't go past Battersea Power Station without having Dogs playing in my head.

  • Awesome job with the audio! Wow!!

  • It´s so beautifull with the guitar solo. I´ve never heart that.

  • historic...

  • 4 people never found somewhere safe to bury their bone

  • Great solo, but it's obviously not Gilmour. It doesn't feel like Gilmour. Snowy White did a great job, but I'm sure David's solo woulda blown that away.

  • which floyd´s albuns is this song version?

  • @jjairojj It's not in an album. Hence the "rare full" part.

  • Ok, I don't get it. How come this wasn't included in the final album. I was listening to Animals last night and was waiting to hear this solo during the song. Is this just an alternative version of "Pigs on the Wing"?

  • @Jcm9991 Yes - it is an alternative version. In the 1970's there was a format called 8-track which was a tape in a cartridge. Songs had to be arranged differently from the LP to fit the tape. For Animals this meant PotW had to be joined together. Gilmour didn't want to go back in the studio so he asked Snowy White record the guitar solo.

Snowy White played guitar on In the Flesh tour and The Wall concerts. The only official release of this version of PotW is on the Snowy White album "Goldtop".

  • @Jcm9991 Animals has "Pigs on the Wing part 1" and "Pigs on the Wing part 2". This solo is done only in the full.

  • first time hearing this version. Beautiful. Animals is my personal favourite Floyd album. Truly epic.

  • I know that i love you.n i know that you love me to n every fool knows that this song is greatn if you dont think so u can kiss my mofo ass

  • i knew this song w/o the guitar solo and fell in love with it. I almost lost it hearing the full version

I hate being a teen in this generation knowing I missed out on all of this

  • @DaJewMuffin AMEN... amen

  • @DaJewMuffin You didn't miss out man. This music will live on forever, for future generations to discover and fall in love with it.

  • @VogtTD true, but it would have been great to actually experience it!

  • Great Tune

  • I want to bite a pig.

  • I had this...this came off of animals when it was on 8-track! Thanks for posting cus I haven't heard this cut since the 8-track days!

  • Sounds fake

  • @Chewbaccio The band had discussed employing another guitarist for future tours, and Snowy White was therefore invited into the studio. When Waters and Mason inadvertently erased one of Gilmour's completed guitar solos, White was asked to record a solo on "Pigs on the Wing". Although his performance was omitted from the vinyl release, it was included on the eight-track cartridge version.

  • @tigmig666 Thanks for the response. So, what you're saying is that there's no possible way to download it from itunes or amazon?

  • @juviera23 not sure if it's on line but try this , Snowy White's, Goldtop: Groups & Sessions '74–'94 ,he's the guy playing the guitar solo and put this song on is album uncut like the vid

  • Does anyone know what album I can download this version from?

  • @juviera23 it's a 2 part song on the album animals , that 1 part one was just on the 8 track but those are antiques ;)

  • Does anyone know what album I can download this version from?

  • wow jus wow these songs have always been ones of my favs as well as the album very underated i belive

  • its on an album called "Rarities", dunno if this is on general sale i think i bought it at a record fare. RIP Syd - Floyd Forever

  • i think they should release an immersion of this album also with this version as well(since they are doing it for dsom the wall and wish you were here)

speaking of which I CANT WAIT

  • on of the most pleasing and fulfilling solos ever

  • If you didn't care what happened to me, And I didn't care for you We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain Occasionally glancing up through the rain Wondering which of the buggers to blame And watching for pigs on the wing.you will know that i care what happens to you. and i know that you care for me too. so i, dont feel alone all the way to the stone now that ive found somewhere safe to bury my bone any fool knows a dog needs a home a shelter from pigs on the wing
  • @SkullandBoneZ101 thanks man its people like you who really help out others thank you again Tom

  • My favorite all time guitar solo. Snowy`s playing is so emotional and his vibrato control is just magical. Listen to that `57 Gold Top sing.

  • love those tea drinkin buggers

  • This Is Freeking Great.

  • wow, if somebody had told me there was a version of this song with a solo i would have told them they're full of crap. this really is a video you gotta see to believe.

  • nice solo, for a non-David Gilmour.

  • Omg i can play the solo, it feels so awesome!!!

  • If David could have played this solo, it would have been 100% better. Sorry, Snowy.

  • This was the version that was on the 8-track of Animals. Used to listen to it all the time in my 77 Ford Mustang. :)

  • You can convert this or any youtube videeo to an mp3 at audiogetnow..com

  • This is from the 8 track version! Thank you!

  • Obviously this ain't no Floyd solo.

The video is nice, but a solo attempt on this song is a waste.

  • Great song. A time when classic and timeless music was being created. Let those who have eyes see, and those who have ears listen.

  • he is Snowy, is true.

Roger, thank you for your existence.

  • drinkin tea -

  • wow! where do people find these things?! Never heard anything like this! Well, duh, it's rare! :D

  • nice solo!!

  • yes its snowy white

  • I just love this video and version of this song. Wow I love Floyd. and now I love Youtube.

  • This solo sounds like it was off the wall album ?????????????

  • @bigals1000 agree with you

  • durn skippy!

  • beautiful...

  • Porras94 is correct; Snowy White did the fill in solo for this song. The song itself was separated by the other tracks into two parts and released on the vinyl and cassette versions. The old 8 track version was the only one with the "complete" song. The band had gone to tour for the album after completing production and David asked Snowy to recut the track and add his solo..nicely done but, you can tell it's not Gilmour

  • Its not his best but still very moving....

  • Very oldfield-ish solo

  • I love this version. please tell me where I can find this. I have always loved this version.

  • Why do they remove this solo from the album :( ?

  • they put sheep, dogs, and pigs (3 different ones) in the middle instead of a solo. would have been a boring album, otherwise.

  • Snowy and Gilmour together are unstoppable Forces that Pulse Version of Learning to Fly is Just Amazing

  • As far as I know, Pulse's second guitarist was Tim Renwick, not Snowy White.

Knowing that Waters and Mason accidentally erased Gilmour's original solo is like never knowing what Mona Lisa would be like. I read somewhere that it was one of his best solos ever.

  • What a great video!!!! To see the Battersea Power Station complete, in opperation is a treat. Google it today and see the empty shell mess they made of it. It looks like a bunker buster hit it. Great version of the song.

  • Doesn't sound like Gilmour to me

  • Really like this version with the awesome solo :)

  • the guitar solo sounds like that from mother on the wall

  • Wow que rareza y que buenas tomas, no vistas por cualquiera

    Esplendido video ^^

  • espekldndido video y cancion, el solo de en medio es espectacular

  • Reminds me of my ex and I. She took pictures of the Battersea Power Station when she went to London in 2002 just because how much I love Floyd and the Animals album. I had this version of the song I had scored off Kazaa at the time and she loved it. Snowy white did a damn fine emotional guitar solo. Roger Waters genuis did the rest.

  • this doesnt sound like a strat. is this gilmour playing the solo with a different guitar?

  • No, it's Snowy White, almost certainly playing his stand gold top Les Paul Standard.

  • it's actually snowy white, not gilmour

  • From the "Gold Top" album. Thanx for the video. Could have done it in stereo though, mate!

  • your 100% right...they do work together well music wise don't they. but if I am correct on this. Roger was the one who came up with the rhythm to this. he was and is an amazing song writer. Snowy white is on Roger Waters in the Flesh DVD. with Doyle Bramhall the 2nd. he is a great guitar player also.

  • @Porras94 correct

  • That's the old Battersea Power Station-- now abandoned and empty. Also appeared in the film version of "1984"

  • It also appears briefly in The Beatles movie Help, as well as about a million other movies, and even a few music videos, I'm sure. I recall it's shown briefly in one of Europe's videos back in the late 80's.

  • It also appears in "Children of Men" with the pig and everything .The director is a Floyd fan.

  • Yeah, it's probably been in a lot of movies and TV shows. It's a major landmark in London.

  • when both parts are added, the song has a different meaning, i'm glad it was split up

  • what meaning?

  • The song does shape the album beautifully when it's split, yet the solo fills the gap between both parts. I can't help but love that solo

  • Genial

  • I don't like the guitar solo at all. It really doesn't need to be there, it just jumps in and then jumps out. ANIMALS is my favorite Pink Floyd album, and Pigs on the Wing is fine without a guitar solo, thanks mister White. What kind of name is Snowy White anyways?

  • only used on the Animals 8-track, wish they would have left it on the original, however i am told it was done by Snowy White, not David Gilmour

  • This sounds like the version from "Goldtop" - the Snowy White complilation album. The guitar solo is higher in the mix than on the original 8-track version.

To hear the original version copy and paste this into the search box: CaJnnmFw6e4

  • Pink Floyd engineer Andrew Jackson specially remixed the 8 track version for Goldtop. On this remix, I hear organ from Rick Wright which didn't exist on the original mix. Also, Roger's vocal is single tracked and acoustic is single tracked as well unlike the original 8 track mix.

  • that's not gilmore in the middle solo. its snowy white.

  • the solo in the middle adds so much to what was already a fantastic tune - animals is a top top album

  • I always thought that this was David Gilmore in the solo. Whoever the hell Snowy White is, he plays just like Gilmore.

  • Brings back old memories. Great song, like all other PF stuff.

  • Whoever posted this video deserves a medal and a pat on the back.

    3 cheers!

  • @DinamoFC Hahaha. Nice.

  • @DinamoFC im 12 and my dad influences me and my lifestyle and honestly...when i heard my best friend listin to punk rock i beat the shit ofem -David chistakoff .Pennslyvania U.S.A

  • But then how the album is???

The correct list of songs in my CD is Pigs on the wing 1, Dogs, Pigs, Sheep, Pigs on the wing 2

  • thats right

but i think that this was an older version, which was later cut in 2 pieces

  • this is an version of a tape recording were the two parts were played together with a solo between them, the solo is played by snowy white, who also played on the live wall tour and later with roger waters on the in the flesh tour...

  • this is the orginal recording.........just like alot of pinkfloyd albums how the last song ends is how the first song starts

  • It's funny so many people say that this is one of PF or David's greatest, because it's a solo played by Snowy White for the 8-track cartridge version of Pigs on the Wing, the two parts were linked together bij this bridge of Snowy :)

  • This is got to be one of the most emotional guitar solos I ever heard. And Floyd has a lot of great solos too. If I died, I would want them to play this song at my funeral because it has a farewell feeling to it.

I'm so happy that someone found this version and uploaded it. I really wish Floyd would've settled their differences because they were just unbelievable. Most unique and philosphical band of all time.

  • This version was only included on the 8-track cut of the album.

  • Comment removed

  • Hi to everyone!!!

all solos on Pigs on the wings (especially live versions were made by Snowy White......

  • Oh man, that solo is PERFECT. They should of kept it. Still, Pink Floyd is like no other band.

  • realy great

  • amazing solo.. thanks snowy white!!

  • Das schönste Solo von David !!!!

  • I got blown to that song It'll always have a place in my heart pure poetry

  • The solo was apparently on the 8track version only.

What a stupidly incredibly retardedly awesome band. It's ridiculous.

  • i bought a vinyl copy on release, no solo then.best band ever no question

  • LIFE:IN A SONG

  • I agree with you my friend. Magical times and my life theme. incredibly tasty Solo here!

  • there is a live bootleg knocking about....live in nassau with a much better guitar solo on it...this is still a rarity though! cheers nicko

  • fascinating

  • I struggled to recreate this solo, must post it someday when I'll have the equipement to record myself on the computer... if anyone has some propositions, cause I suck at computers, but I wish I could post some vids... do I have to buy a USB adaptator and a software or something? thx for replying

  • Unbelievable.

  • i have this on 8-track

  • I love this track. Ever since I found it years ago when free napster was still legal. Lot of memories. One incredible guitar solo performed by as said, Snowy White. The blues just pour from Snowy`s hands in this solo, just as they do in any Gilmour Solo. Love this video, outstanding footage.

  • Go free napster.

  • whered you find this??

  • anyone got a joint?

  • haha

  • i second that..

  • This enhanced track was only

released on CD in 1995, on Snowy White's compilation "Gold Top''

  • it was on the tape version of Animals too... used to have it but the track is almost erased, cant hear anythig lol... at least 25 year old...

  • Its not on the cassette...

  • are you sure? I read somewhere that the solo was not on the vinyl, so the tape owners were lucky... but I can't check like I said the tape from my ad is 24 year old and I can't barely hear anything

  • I have the tape... No solo, but Pigs (3 different ones) is split up between side one and 2

  • It's only on the 8-track cartridge release (which is looped) not the normal cassette; Parts 1 and 2 were linked by a guitar bridge performed by Snowy White and is such on Snowy White's 'Goldtop: Groups & Sessions' compilation album(1995).

  • It's definitely Snowy White, not Gilmour although he may have been using Gilmours guitar.

Apart from that, BigBusiness is correct. Gilmour's solos on the other three tracks are all done on a Tele.

  • isnt the solo snowy white?

  • yes

  • this is a great solo

  • That's Gilmour's Fender Telecaster.

  • it's snowy white

  • I read that he used a Telecaster for the Animals album, but maybe that was a different song.

  • el solo puede ser deficiente, pero la armonía en conjunto es bonita y "tristona"

  • that solo sucked snowy IMO I would have the first part and if you use the solo from Mother in the middle part it would sound a lot better

  • I'm pretty sure he re-wrote the solo to mother from this.

  • I like pigs solo more .

  • This was exclusive to the 8-track release.

I guess they were good for something...:P

  • hey did anyone else notice the similiarty between this and Comfortably Numb in the begining of Daves solo??????????

  • That wouldn't surprise me.

  • wow, downloaded this rare version from napster like 10 years ago, lost the cd i made a while back, thanks for posting this!

  • its from Animal`s instinct no? the tour of animals

  • I don't think this song is because it doesn't have any organ in it like it does on tour.

  • if anyone wants a copy of this let me or MrfloydPink know,

  • dude hit me up, i would love this

  • Beautiful....genius

  • who is snowy...

  • Snowy actually toured with Floyd i think for a short while, or with Waters immediately after PF broke up. He plays guitar with Waters to this day. He did the solo in this song. This version is only available on 8 track version. Is it on Oh by the Way box set? Anyone?

  • Snowy White began touring with Pink Floyd for the "In The Flesh Tour" (The Animals Tour). He also toured for The Wall tour. And then Roger picked him up after he left the band. And I don't think this is on the Box Set.

  • I didn't know he tourned with pF during The Wall tour. Was he on for the entire tour? Cause the concert filmed at Earls court we all know of i don't remember seeing him in that one.

  • Yah he was on that. He was one of the "Surrogate Band" members.

  • super dude im always up for a floydie chat ,

these 2 songs are well among my favourites the solo that joins them just makes me want to put it on repeat,

pompie era does it for me,

there is no doutb in my mind that the floyd

    are the best band ever,

nobody tells it like the pinkfloyd

  • NIce!! thanks for posting this pal!!!

  • This is great

  • Its Snowy, Dave never wrote nor played a solo for the song.

  • Its Snowy, Dave never wrote nor played a solo for the song.

  • yup this is snowy white for sure

  • Are you sure? I always heard it was Snowy.

  • You are right, it was actually recorded by Snowy as an audition for joining Floyd as secondary guitarist for the forthcoming live shows
