To all the people who think that Alicia Sacramonoe cost the USA the gold. People China's score was 188.900 and USA's score was 186.525. Each fall was a 0.8 deduction so Alicia's two falls were 1.6 deductions for team USA and with her step out of bounds it was 1.7. 186.525 + 1.700 = 188,325 which would still put USA in 2nd position. Get over it!
Oh come on! how many people can tuble on a 10cm beam? She is able to do things that most people can't even dream of! She is amazing an olympic gymnast, she has won lots of medals, golds included and she is one of the best vaulters in the world. She had a really bad day at Bejiin and I'm sure she feels awful about it, but despite that she made a comeback and she' s now training for 2012. Alicia got right back up. She handled her fall very well. some would have just quit right then and there. Unfortantely it happened at the Olympics. otherwise I know USA would have taken Gold or at least came closer. this video indicates the Chinese put a spell on Alicia causing her to lose her balance.

She had trained for how long to do that routine. Her entire freaking life. That's it! That's ALL she had to do is land that routine and she didn't. These people get grants to train their entire lives to do one thing. It's just cold hard reality. She messed up big time.

i am! i have also been doing it my whole life. (i am a junior international elite) you have to come to a realization. its not like alicia tried to fall. in case you have forgotten, the beam is only 4 inches wide, and maybe, just maybe, you will fall, especially when there is a tremendous amount of pressure on you to do well. we still got the silver medal and last time i checked, that was still an amazing feat. so chill b/c its harder than you think.

And I've never heard of an elite gymnast getting grants to live on. They get prize money and scholarships for school. Not a grant to live off of..where are you getting this BS.

ACTUALLYYYY if you look at the scored.... the americans still scored higher then the chinese on beam, and were not far behind on floor.. what lost the ogld for them was bars... they were behind way more on bars and even without the two falls still would have lost the gold... seriously do ur research

this is horrible!! im sure more than half of the people on "you tube" cant even get up on a balance beam much less try to flip on to it! maybe you should try it before you completely dog the country that is representing YOU! also, you can look up how there was an unusually long wait time inbetween when they called her name and when she actually mounted! under that amount of stress YOU people wouldnt have even gotten infront of an international camera much less tried flip after flip on a BEAM!!!!

Is it really gratifying for you to make fun of someone in this way? Yes, she fell...but she's only human. And as someone else correctly pointed out they ALL made mistakes (including the Chinese!). At the end of the day she and the rest of her team are still Olympic Medalists which is an amazing thing in and of itself. I've met Alicia on more than one occasion; She is a very nice and caring person. She's already beating herself up enough for this. Is it necessary for you to add to the misery?

Yes, she made mistakes. But she must feel like crap b/c of how she did . But, remember this: the chinese athletes may be underage, i completely agree with that. but isnt the fact that they are on the team a fault of the people that forged the passports or birth certificates(?), not the athletes? you seem to forget that these chinese athletes are taken from their families and are practically forced to do what they are told...including gymnastics.

You are sooo stupid and clearly know nothing about gymnastics. FIRST of all...we could have stuck our landing on vault...Alicia did but Bridget and Shawn both took steps and as you clearly don't know...that means deductions...Then onto uneven bars...ALL OF THEM MADE MISTAKES! That also equals deductions and in Chellsie Memmel's case a reduced start value...Nastia had a wobble on the beam that costs some tenths and all of it added up...and then to finish...everyone made mistakes on floor! Duh.

That flip she does onto the beam is freaking amazing! She did it successfully in the prelims. As stated, the loss was not her fault. These girls are brilliant Alicia included. They are also human. She was doing a flip and raising herself (what?)3 ft, and landing within a 4 inch spot. Can you do it, I'll give you a month.

Only a month? That seems unfair...Alicia has been practicing for 12 YEARS and she still falls often. Just clicking on the first Youtube video that come up in a search yielded four seperate Sacramone falls in important competitions.

Yes just a month. Practice that one move for a month. You don't have to do the whole routine, just do a flip, and land on the 4 inch beam. Hell, get on the beam and do a flip and land. I'm not paying any hospital bills while you learn.
