Jeff, I used the Harley kit that partners with the seat. I think they could have put a little more effort into its design but it does the job. Plastic but at least it mess up my paint etc.
You have to ask yourself what do you consider a long ride? I live in Orlando and ride to Daytona all the time. It's about a 2 hour ride and I'm ready to stretch my legs when I get there. The seat looks great and feels fine for my normal around town rides. It's not as comfortable as maybe a Corbin seat but it's also about how it looks to me. Obviously my recommendation is go for it and don't look back!
@jmc1ace First of all, one of the best Blackline mods i have see so far nice work!. I noticed in your initial comments you said you used the Harley Solo Seat, what seat frame pan (bolting into the rear fender and covering up the guts and battery) did you use?
Beautiful bike. I should have mine delivered in a few days. I wanted to go with the springer seat (I have a similar one on my RE bobber), yet at the HD shop everyone kept telling me "don't get it, it is not comfortable!" So, I ordered the seat from the softail slim... but now I am having second thoughts! Weigh in on the comfort of this seat!? Do you take it on long rides? If yes, how do you like it??? Much appreciated... and ride safe!
@Chevy - the spring seat takes a little getting use to but if feels nice...after you break it in. It took a little getting use to it because it doesn't have as much padding as the stock but now I'm very happy I switched over!
I love the Blackline. I'm getting on in the next couple months. the solo seat on this bike looks great. I'm 5'6" so I like how it sits low. The short shots are a nice touch as well. I was thinking about going with the big rad 2-2 but the short shots look just as nice. This is going to be my first bike though so how do you think it will suit a new rider? Thanks.
@cturner2 I just bought my very 1st bike and im 49 yrs old, I went with the Blackline, because when I sat on it, it just melted around me, perfect fit (im 5"7) I made a very excelent choice, put 1000 miles on it in 15 days.
i would like to say to Mr. @thebrindleburner that one the blackline is a fucking sexy bike, and two it is not good harley owner spirit to diss someone's bike like that. we all know how much our bikes mean to us, like our baby, so respect others tastes and feelings so they would respect you.

I find it interesting that Harley riders are known for their embrace of individuality and passion for the HD brand. Except this guy who thinks it's cool to badmouth a fellow riders bike because they didn't conform to his way of thinking by purchasing the same bike he has. So much for the Harley owners free spirit image.
@thebrindleburner if u aint scraping u aint riding. And the black line is one of the gayest bikes ever made right next to the fat bob and rocker. It can never replace the night train not ever. So fuck the black line not to mention that it is uncomfortable to ride for long period of times. Get a god damn road glide.
hey man sweet bike! love these new blacklines! just curious as to what yoy ordered the pipes for for them to fit? i dont see the blackline specifically listed and i was just curious. thanks!
Lol, yeah, it's funny because Harley is all about individuality but then you get the guys who want to shoot down new models. Oh well, each to their own dude.
Hey Man, thanks for this post. I picked up mine this weekend and your vid helped when I couldn't be drooling at the dealer. (now I'm back to see your upgrades again, heh) I agree... damn fine bike!
I'm not sure who put sand in @unsavage's vagina, but it seems he's trolling for all the Blackline vids.
Find a 95 to 97 Harley Badboy (FXSTSB) for around $10k and ride the coolest softail Harley ever made....ride something real....80 cubic inches is all you need when you get right down to it and who needs fuel injection....it's true that carbs suck and motorcycles vibrate and a pair of dollar store sunglasses is all ya need....
Thanks man! Honestly I hate the reflectors as well! I'm on the fence if I should remove them or not. My concern is the maniac tourists in the area that don't watch where they're going. A little protection is better than none! Still hate those things!
Also, I assume with you being in Afghanistan your a solider? If so...thank you for what you do brother and come home safe!
Excellent Blackline, I'm looking to purchase one upon return from Afghanistan. I love the subtle changes you have made to the bike. I absolutely love this model, from the rear fender, internal wired bars, the stance. My only thing i would do, of course it is a safety issue, is remove the giant huffy reflectors on the forks. Gorgeous bike my friend!
Sure no problem! It's a 1584 cc engine. Yes its powerful but smooth...very smooth! I had a triumph Thruxton prior and the Blackline is hands down better! It's balanced very well and it handles great! I was looking at a sportster 48 before this one came out and I'm glad I waited! Buy the right bike the first time and you always be happy! My recommendation, go rent one and see how you like it. Just be prepared to buy it after!
Thanks man! You will love the bike! Pipes sound awesome! I'm gonna post another video and start it up shortly. I got the plate mount from Kuryakyn. Shop around and you can get some good deals. Remember to get the mount not just the plate holder! Easy installation too!
i got an all black blackline 1 month ago and love it, just ordered the vand h short shot black and rh v and h v02 intake. where u get the liscense plate frame it makes the bike look so much better!!
Thanks man! It's a great bike! Very comfortable! I'm 6'2" and with the solo seat and the forward pegs, smooth ride! I transitioned from a Triumph Thruxton and my butt and back were sore each time I rode it (and I rode a lot)! I'm just coming up on 1k miles and I have NO complaints about the Blackline!
@jmc1ace Hey man do you mind telling me what CC it is cause I'm looking for a Harley Blackline Custom but i want one thats not a lot of CC and I'm buying my first bike also and i rather go american than japan and also cause i got a harley f150
Sorry, meant Jayflo, not Jeff.

@411 - the bobber seat lowers it slightly but nothing really noticeable.

@jmc1ace
Sweet setup you done there, I picked up by blackline 5 days after selling my crossbones for this :)
How does the bobber seat compare to the stock? especially for long rides, do you recommend it over the stock seat?
Chevy5007 1 month ago

@olschool1963 you're never too old for a HD.

No cutting at all! All you have to do is remove the fender bolts and the plate assembly nearly falls right out.
jmc1ace 6 months ago
Did you have to cut metal bracket after you removed stock licence plate bracket?

@FMAStudent - enjoy! It gets better once you break it in! Don't plan a long trip after you install it!
@TheBrindleBoxer - actually I've only scraped the pegs once. I guess I'm not riding it like I stole it enough!

The pipes are Vance and Hines short shots and the are for the FSX but I think all you have to do is look for a pair that would fit a softail.

Enjoy it!
