At the end of the day, grade eight Trinity requires a much higher level of playing than Rockschool. This is indisputable. Trinity grade six is about the same as Rockschool grade eight, if not slightly harder.
regarding the whole rockschool vs trinity argument - you should learn things from both - 2 very different animals, and each teaches things that the other lacks. E.g Rockschool is very beat heavy, but trinity really works on technique and sightreading.Get the best of both worlds - you know its true!
this is how rock school shows it's superiority, this piece wud never be played in real life, so it's almost irrelevant, whether or not you can play it (no offense to the guy in this video). The rock school pieces cud be real songs that people wud listen to, like 667.
@tiernan1309 difference is, rock school is a doss. for lazy people.
:)
yes, it may not be played in real life but this is not a piece, it is a rudimental study. by playing this study i have seriously increased my general playing ability, and things such as my coordination and playing speed have dramatically improved. on the other hand i can almost sight read grade 8 rock school.
Good start - nice technique on the rudiments. Some improvement on your paradiddles (especially the application around the kit) would go along way. I'm glad i played rockschool board rather than trinity as this piece has hardly any groove whatsoever. very uncohesive - which is the writers fault of course.
im going to be starting grade 8 trinity in my lessons too for my exam which will be in november probily ... i can play the other peices already but not looking forward to learning this too !! :D

ok i recomend you should et the full drum kit 8 cymbles 2 bass drums 12 tom's like me
and play something better like dragon force song i think youll manage t and good luck to you that you'll parents will let you'll buy it it cost's around £11.000
Good stuff mate! I'm sitting mine today, I reckon you could slow the whole thing down a bit since some parts are not as fluently played as others, therefore if you slow the whole thing, the piece will sound even better! And remember I think the tempo range has been changed to a 80 BPM as the slowest tempo so no worries about going to slow. I tend to play it like this and it sounds and feels more comfortable, nice work!
eeeww those horrible remo ux's that come with the kit, do you have a mapex pro m? i have that one and ive had coated emporors and pinstripes and the kit sounds awesome with these on! also i replaced my snare withe a 14 x 6.5 black panther hammered bronze which sounds fab
Hm...well, its not bad, but a lot of inaccuracies and timing issues, also you have missed sooo many notes. A very average performance actually. Do not take my criticism to heart, I am giving you a truthful, objective and straight forward review.
WTF is this? Why be grade 8 at playing shit music?
I'd rather listen to something simple that has groove.

Well played, but this is a horrible piece of music. Impossible to play with any personality (which I suppose is the point of grades to some extent).

is it true that having a grade 8 in an instrument is considered to be equally as valuable as a C at A level?
someone said this to me and i wasn't sure whether it was bs or not...
