i know this comment is 6 months old but oh well. in case others might think it isnt techno also i thought id explain. i read the guide you speak of, from what i can see it discusses only rave. which is a subgenre of techno. techno means music that was made on a pc/dj decks. for instance if a metal band has a dj (slipknot for a popular example) its part techno. dance hiphop (most)pop (most)rap trance rave drum n bass and hardstyle are all (but there are way more) subgenres of techno =)

broad subgenres (like techno, trance, and house) are determined first by their beat (four to the floor, breakbeat), and secondarily by overall feel. house is a funky, semi-acoustic, four to the floor stuff. trance is repetitive, synthetic, robot, 4ttf stuff. jungle is mostly breaks.

based on that, i'd have to say that this song falls somewhere under hip hop. maybe electro.

yeah. electronic music is hard to classify. that's just what i've pieced together from observations and ishkur's guide. what's trance seems to be synthetic and repetitive. what's house seems to be funky and fun. what's techno seems to be robotic and machine-like.

anyway, if someone says that a song is techno or electronica, it's probably not. the best thing to do is to just agree with them. "yep. that's techno alright"

This is far from Techno. If the remixer didn't overdo the ingame sound effect and music then it could be a good remix. Also that repeating death sound effect just takes away from the remix so much. I've heard a ton of video game remixes in my life and this just isn't up to par with the very well made remixes and very talented artists at OCRemix.

I could understand if this was old like pre-2000 but otherwise, it just isn't pleasant.
