@Zbyszkoz Sorry, that's not the case. Russia offered the Mig-35 with AESA, but the AESA was not completely developed. US was the only nation to offer AESA that was fully functional, and it was not the best AESA radar in the US's service, which is in the F-22.To date Russia does not have any fighters in service with AESA, which is the radar of the future.

It's avionics are not up to such standard. @Zbyszkoz Not true. Even India said the US has better weapons and systems. The Pak-Fa's stealth cannot ever get a lower RCS than the F-22 unless its shape dramatically changes, which isn't going to happen. Russian officials have even said that increased stealth comes at too great of a cost. Fact is that the PAk-Fa will be less stealthy than the F-22; it's avionics will be inferior, and it will be less powerful.
RD-33 is used only by MiGs. Sukhoi uses also TVC engines AL-31FP, AL-31FM1 and new AL-41F for Su-35 and PAK-FA. FP version is used on Su-30, FM1 on Su-30, Su-27SM and Su-34.

@sukhoi235 The pullback of helli's isn't surprising as they are venerable to SAM's. I think NATO underestimated the SAM units, and then pulled back once it realized they were causing problems.
NATO's bombing was very light in comparison to the Gulf war, so they underestimated the situation and didn't adequately soften up the target. The losses are still very low even if your figures are 100% accurate. But NATO handled the situation terribly, the losses should have been less.
Well losses are pretty high comparing to 10 MiG-29s that YuAF lost,half of them on the ground.3 F-117 shot ,one totally destroyed and one later on scrapped which were best technology USAF had at that moment. Fact that they couldnt use helicopters because of AA defense,at least 2 F-16s,AV-8,A-10s damaged and probably some shot down but crashed over the border and over 35 UAVs,not to mention over 100 cruise missiles shot down before they could hit the target are pretty high loss
I also dont believe B-2 was shot down, but there are rumors abot something big crashed over border in Croatia. There was a big fire in Spacva forest and US military closed that area. But it can be anything....fully loaded F-16 for example....it doesnt even have to be a bomber. Also one AV-8B was shot down, that you can even find on wikipedia. And its fact that Serbian side wasnt allowed to talk about NATO losses by Kumanovo agreement.

Fanboys would have you believe its gods charriot. However if you were to read up on it from reliable sources you would find its stated as being a competent gen 4 gen 4.5 multirole aircraft. Its closest competitors in market would be f16 or f18 variants. depending on how outfitted.

Maneuverability only does job in CCE (close combat encounter), which never happens, because planer are either shot down by AA missiles or SAMS or they run out of gas before they enter IVR (In Visual Range) of opponent(s).
As much i adore both USA & USSR (yes Russia) aircrafts, i must say that planes dont win the battle, ROCKETs does. For example you can put 10 AIM-120 AMRAAM on shit Spitfire and take down 10 MiG-29, also you can put 10 R-73 on IL-2 and take down 10 F-16. So again it is all about Rockets, Rockets win the war not Aircrafts. In real simulated battles, only ~1% aircrafts dodge modern missile (by luck), so all standard aircrafts can do the job in the war.
@XStarss Actually you are wrong missiles even the AMRAAM can and have been dodged and not by luck. in Serbia for example a pilot flying a faulty malfunctioning Mig-29A dodged at least 8 or so NATO missiles and made it back to base. in the gulf war a MIG-25 foxbat with no ecm and poor manuverability escaped from 16, F-15 Eagles who were firing missiles at him
@Elfulcrum777 I know those stories, MiG-29 dodged all those missiles because he went on low altitude below radar range, and AMRAAM is Semi-Radar Guided Missile, so they all failed. MiG-25 escaped because he removed speed limiter and went on speeds mach 3.5+ and missiles fired at him cant pass mach 3 in boost period and mach 2 in cruise period (when engine burns). But those were times long ago (1999 on Kosovo) and earlier.
@Elfulcrum777 Now modern systems like SRAAM and S-400 detect traectory of aircraft and it combat range vary on direction and speed aircraft is going on. If Aircraft is going for example to SAM station, missile can be fired at 500 km range, while if it is going out of station range is maximum of 150 km for SRAAM and S-400. And those missiles have been tested and have 99% efficiency. Only way to dodge them is to SITO (Slam into the Object) them, which is usually ground.
@Elfulcrum777 And that is done by flying on 500-1000 feet altitude and when missile is close directing your aircraft to the ground, missile will calculate traectory and slam itself before aircraft. But that is now also changed so it will not. So practically there is no chance to dodge the missile, there are some last moment high-altitude maneuvers which may sometimes work, but also new missiles direct explosion to you even if they miss you, so you will be heavy damaged. So basically no way.

The russian planes can twist and turn all pretty like, the US planes have the advantage with avionics. Russia is way behind the curve when it comes to electronics.
MiG35 is superior to any western counterpart. END OF STORY, for those who dont think so look it up in the preformace charts and abilities. Comparing F16 to MiG35 even to MiG29 is ludicruos.

If you do a google search you will discover that the west had a similar 3D nozzle back in the 1980s that could have been installed on the F15 and F16, but it was canceled and never went anywhere. Shame really. P and W iirc. It would have given both fighters a new lease on life.
Here are the aircraft, prototypes, programs were underway decades before the Russians, but the Russians took the feature and added it to their new aircraft, the west did the research and probabily decided it was too expensive, or it wasn't needed at the time.

Well you obviously dont read title....Its MiG-35 in video (and MiG-29OVT tech demonstrator)....MiG-35 is way better plane than F-16, you should compare him to F-18E or Eurofighter, not F-16. Even MiG-29 is superior in air to air combat (although F-16 has better air to ground characteristics). And i wouldnt agree that western avionics are better....You wouldnt believe what Russia have....about BVR missiles and radars...Russian are better....IRBIS-E is best radar and R-77 is superior to AIM-120
I would'nt say the Russian has the better BVR air-to-air missile. The R-77 is better than the AIM-120 in that it has a farther range and better sustain G-turn rate. But it achieve those better performance by being a much larger and heavier missile than the AIM-120. The AMRAAM however, pretty much negates that advantage as it has about the same range as the R-77 but is about the same weight and size of the AIM-120.
the AIM 120 is an AMRAAM as is the R 77. R 77 is heavier because it has a larger range than AIM 120 C. AIM 120C isbetter than the R 77 in terms of aionics, R 77 is better in terms of structural design such as being more manouverable.

Both Yugoslavia and Iraq were under embargo for 9 and 13 years...if i was some conspiracy guy i would say thats actually US army tactic....first a long embargo and then great attack on half working enemy equipment....As you know under embargo country cant buy spare parts or new military equipment...
And MiG-25 shot down USN F-18....Anyway....only time where both Su-27 and MiG-29 were functional and in combat was Ethipoian-Eritrean war....and there it was 5:0 score for Su-27 i think....So if you actually look....only place where fully functional and new Russian and US equipment met are Vietnam and Korean war.....and on both places, both sides had big losses, so if you ask me i dont say Russian army today is better, i say its very very equal to US army....

Yes there were few situations where MiG-25 evaded many enemy fighters and missiles. It was a really good plane for its time. But today MiG-31BM is the best interceptor in the world, no one can even match him, although Su-35BM also has radar as strong as MiG-31s Zaslon (400km range) and can carry missiles like R-37 with the same range.

Russian pilot flying times are not very high due to the economic crises, and are on average quite below the US pilots in training. Hopefully these great planes and better financial times will seriously reverse that...

It's avionics are not up to such standard. Plus, you add in that Russia is having difficulty building its specified engines, and there's is doubt that they may never be built to the desired specifications. The Pak-Fa's stealth cannot ever get a lower RCS than the F-22 unless its shape dramatically changes, which isn't going to happen. Russian officials have even said that increased stealth comes at too great of a cost. Fact is that the PAk-Fa will be less stealthy than the F-22; it's avionics will be inferior, and it will be less powerful.

RD-33 is used only by MiGs. Sukhoi uses also TVC engines AL-31FP, AL-31FM1 and new AL-41F for Su-35 and PAK-FA. FP version is used on Su-30, FM1 on Su-30, Su-27SM and Su-34.

As from documentaries (American) NATO military would seal of the area so no evidence would be found..They cleaned very well. @Baboonmann I looked up what you are claiming and find these are the NATO losses - 1 F-16, 1-f-117, and 1 heavily damaged F-117, 1-AH-64 Apache, and 32 UAV's from various countries.
No b-2's were lost the only one that has been lost was in 2008 due to a crash and andersen AFB. Those are common rumors, but a photo was taken of the Spirit of Missouri in 2007, and can be found at airliners . net

@sukhoi235 The pullback of helli's isn't surprising as they are venerable to SAM's. I think NATO underestimated the SAM units, and then pulled back once it realized they were causing problems.
NATO's bombing was very light in comparison to the Gulf war, so they underestimated the situation and didn't adequately soften up the target. The losses are still very low even if your figures are 100% accurate. But NATO handled the situation terribly, the losses should have been less.

Well losses are pretty high comparing to 10 MiG-29s that YuAF lost,half of them on the ground.3 F-117 shot ,one totally destroyed and one later on scrapped which were best technology USAF had at that moment. Fact that they couldnt use helicopters because of AA defense,at least 2 F-16s,AV-8,A-10s damaged and probably some shot down but crashed over the border and over 35 UAVs,not to mention over 100 cruise missiles shot down before they could hit the target are pretty high loss

I also dont believe B-2 was shot down, but there are rumors abot something big crashed over border in Croatia. There was a big fire in Spacva forest and US military closed that area. But it can be anything....fully loaded F-16 for example....it doesnt even have to be a bomber. Also one AV-8B was shot down, that you can even find on wikipedia. And its fact that Serbian side wasnt allowed to talk about NATO losses by Kumanovo agreement.

the mig-35 part sucks because it didn't fly backwards. The pilot was going over that whole routine and the only good part was the barrel roll.
They are the only planes in the world that can fly backwards. It's what the people wanna see.

Fanboys would have you believe its gods charriot. However if you were to read up on it from reliable sources you would find its stated as being a competent gen 4 gen 4.5 multirole aircraft. Its closest competitors in market would be f16 or f18 variants. depending on how outfitted.

Maneuverability only does job in CCE (close combat encounter), which never happens, because planer are either shot down by AA missiles or SAMS or they run out of gas before they enter IVR (In Visual Range) of opponent(s).

As much i adore both USA & USSR (yes Russia) aircrafts, i must say that planes dont win the battle, ROCKETs does. For example you can put 10 AIM-120 AMRAAM on shit Spitfire and take down 10 MiG-29, also you can put 10 R-73 on IL-2 and take down 10 F-16. So again it is all about Rockets, Rockets win the war not Aircrafts. In real simulated battles, only ~1% aircrafts dodge modern missile (by luck), so all standard aircrafts can do the job in the war.

@XStarss Actually you are wrong missiles even the AMRAAM can and have been dodged and not by luck. in Serbia for example a pilot flying a faulty malfunctioning Mig-29A dodged at least 8 or so NATO missiles and made it back to base. in the gulf war a MIG-25 foxbat with no ecm and poor manuverability escaped from 16, F-15 Eagles who were firing missiles at him

@Elfulcrum777 I know those stories, MiG-29 dodged all those missiles because he went on low altitude below radar range, and AMRAAM is Semi-Radar Guided Missile, so they all failed. MiG-25 escaped because he removed speed limiter and went on speeds mach 3.5+ and missiles fired at him cant pass mach 3 in boost period and mach 2 in cruise period (when engine burns). But those were times long ago (1999 on Kosovo) and earlier.

@Elfulcrum777 Now modern systems like SRAAM and S-400 detect traectory of aircraft and it combat range vary on direction and speed aircraft is going on. If Aircraft is going for example to SAM station, missile can be fired at 500 km range, while if it is going out of station range is maximum of 150 km for SRAAM and S-400. And those missiles have been tested and have 99% efficiency. Only way to dodge them is to SITO (Slam into the Object) them, which is usually ground.

@Elfulcrum777 And that is done by flying on 500-1000 feet altitude and when missile is close directing your aircraft to the ground, missile will calculate traectory and slam itself before aircraft. But that is now also changed so it will not. So practically there is no chance to dodge the missile, there are some last moment high-altitude maneuvers which may sometimes work, but also new missiles direct explosion to you even if they miss you, so you will be heavy damaged. So basically no way.

In 1980s (afghan war days) , 2 Su 27s (russian pilots) went up against 2 pakistan air force F-16s after the Sukois Pakistani airspace. 1 F-16 was lost and both Su 27s were shot down. Without BVR, the pilots make a heck of a difference. (No one made a story of this since then..., politcs u know)

If you do a google search you will discover that the west had a similar 3D nozzle back in the 1980s that could have been installed on the F15 and F16, but it was canceled and never went anywhere. Shame really. P and W iirc. It would have given both fighters a new lease on life.

Well you obviously dont read title....Its MiG-35 in video (and MiG-29OVT tech demonstrator)....MiG-35 is way better plane than F-16, you should compare him to F-18E or Eurofighter, not F-16. Even MiG-29 is superior in air to air combat (although F-16 has better air to ground characteristics). And i wouldnt agree that western avionics are better....You wouldnt believe what Russia have....about BVR missiles and radars...Russian are better....IRBIS-E is best radar and R-77 is superior to AIM-120

I would'nt say the Russian has the better BVR air-to-air missile. The R-77 is better than the AIM-120 in that it has a farther range and better sustain G-turn rate. But it achieve those better performance by being a much larger and heavier missile than the AIM-120. The AMRAAM however, pretty much negates that advantage as it has about the same range as the R-77 but is about the same weight and size of the AIM-120.

Yes there were few situations where MiG-25 evaded many enemy fighters and missiles. It was a really good plane for its time. But today MiG-31BM is the best interceptor in the world, no one can even match him, although Su-35BM also has radar as strong as MiG-31s Zaslon (400km range) and can carry missiles like R-37 with the same range.

@sukhoi235 Mikoyan and Sukoi air craft , do surpass western fighters in many ways , the only reason why the American F-15 has never taken air to air losses was the fact that it has only had to deal with downgraded or old opponents like the mig-21 and mig-23 and mig-29A against Fully equipped Migs or sukois i think the Eagles perfect service record would get a serious beat down

No russian pilots flying these have ever engaged us forces. Pilot training and maintenance matters as much as aircraft.

@Ortheos2006 Keep in mind, though, that this is a test pilot flying. His life and hobby is aerobatics. Russian pilot flying times are not very high due to the economic crises, and are on average quite below the US pilots in training. Hopefully these great planes and better financial times will seriously reverse that...

@BLKACE1 Yeah... Umm, that's cause the USSR had this stupid tendency under Brezhnev to throw entire air forces practically for free to any potentially friendly third-world country (look at the composition of most African air forces on wikipedia).
Meanwhile, the US, plays by the proper rulebook of major powers and only attacks countries it is confident it can overwhelm technologically and numerically (ie: Iraq). Hence the ratios.

@BLKACE1 this guy is like ok, starve you for a month, then break your legs, now "lets have a race" to see who runs better. thats the way US fight wars, starve countries, bomb them from hundreds of miles away, once they disable the "enemy" they send planes, and finally when "they think" there is no more recistance they send ground troops.

@BLKACE1 Well the Su-27 has seen quite a bit of action with Russia against georgia , on ground attack missions and shooting down several su-25 of georgia , and with the Ethiopian air force it they shot down 5 Eritrean mig-29s and damaged 1 , it also participated in many CAP and Ground attack missions , destroying many tanks and armored vehicles the mig-29 has also seen ground attack action in Russia and other countries

@LpmVr USA is on the verge of bankrupcy. Russian economy was in ruins until Putin came to power, and now its back on its feet and building again. Things dont cost the same in US and in Russia. Russia is able to make things for less money meaning more economic efficiency. There wont be confrontation between Russia and US that would mean nuclear war and end of the world.

If you heard nothing about aerodynamic plasma technology, i think you have to find out some information about it. i think that when you read and just understand what that technology can do you will change your mind about whose technologyes far ahead.......) Planes with that technology unseen by today's radars and can fly more than 12000 km/h. In Russia that technology is today, in America it is tomorrow. Just read "Aerodynamic plasma technology".

Well, if the USA don't "seize the world", then someone else will do (Russians, Chinese, Indians ?). Its not like theres much of a choice for ordinary people.
And yes, Russia made some work on economy, still the Russian Rubel lost 20% of its worth to the Euro in 2009 alone. People taking away their money from russian banks followed, which raised the interest, which led to unemployment. Salaries went down by almost 6% in 2009. For 2010 the same is predicted.
