the plates that stick up between the rails at the scanner proly tore the glad hands apart, puting the train in emergency, you have to maintain 8 mph over scanners or they give "system not working". If the trains northbound it needed the 3 units to get up out of Hamilton.
Ahhh,,,, at 2:30, that is how a locomotive is supposed to sound. Turbo whining and the thumping of that engine........ Video was worth that part! Thanks for posting.
@Dookiedolf hard to tell possibly being moved but i doubt it becuse the writing on the screen says conducter moves from back engine or something like that so probably needed to haul the load
I think when the dispatcher said "wired together" he was talking about the air hoses that came apart. It's a big problem with auto racks and bulkhead flat cars with the air hoses coming apart when the slack comes together. I've had many trains go into emergency like this. The same stretch of track now that I think about it. Navasota sub between mp 7.7 and mp 14. Had three that I can remember that all had a hose come apart. Two were auto racks, one was two long bulkhead flats.
Oh do I feel their pain, I was hit with a hot wheel on a 9800ft 113. It ended up being a handbrake on the second last car, nothing like walking close to 20 000ft.
@CanadianPacific8800 And undoubtedly it was 105 degrees outside. Or 20 below. Those things always seem to go together!
I much prefer working the ground than running, but there are definitely times when sitting in a nice air conditioned / heated cab beats trudging up and down the track.
@LocalRailfan ahh ok! :) Im HOPEFULLY going to be getting a mac book pro for my birthday with imovie. Is there a way to save your movie and then continue on it later in imovie? Like if I start a project with imovie can i save it and close the program and reopen later? how does it work? :P
iMovie is probably the best editing software that you can get. No worries about loosing projects. They save automatically, for extra security I personally back up all my movies on an external hardrive.
Oh yes we get those days here too, and it's not always one thing that's wrong, it's just one problem after the other, and then the whole line gets stacked up and trains get stuck, it always happens during the busy traffic session, haha. Which reminds me, I have a video of an emergency stop to upload, I think you'll like it. And this video is great because of those awesome EMD's, they sounded great. I liked it a lot.
Thanks for the compliments and information Eric. I would love to see that video of the train in Emergency. As always I will be looking for some more great videos from you.

Shame, the description worked the video up and after watching it there was not much to see. Very uneventful.

Clanking railcar at 1:42. That a loose bearing?
Fireheart528 6 months ago
@Fireheart528 Nope! Just the rails making that noise.

Poor conductor. Too difficult for him to run back to the locomotive. Or is he also examining the train from the other side?
Love your close-up detail.
Why horn blasts at 3:28?
Glad you moved to the sunny side.
Would like to have seen that signal near thend.
Also, always video grade crossings. We get to see everything as before, but also signals operating and if there is a mishap you will have captured it.

what would happen if the trains lost all their air pressure?
Alexking99 8 months ago
3 engines ? Obviously we cant tell from the outside the weight of the load but there were very few carriages.
Were 2 of the engines just hooked up as they were being moved elsewhere or were they actually needed to pull that load ?
