  • Can a black tea rinse replace a light protein deep conditioner?! i was using ORS Replenishing every other week but now id like to use this in junction with my moisturizing dc

  • I am going through a frustrating shedding phase and remembered this video!! I was so glad to get answers. I tried the coffee and I took a garlic supplement by mouth, I got back to taking my multi vitamins and followed the instructions on how to do the coffee from this video and I am on day 2 and I am seeing a slight difference already...though I did detangle after conditioning and got a lot of shed hair out then.

  • my mom use to put coffee in my hair and I thought she was doing that because of the smell hahahaha I loved it in my hair.

  • Hi Traycee. Do you still recommend the garlic conditioners too in addition to the tea rinse?

  • How many tea bags do you use when making your rinse?

  • Thanks a million!! You were so in depth ;) keep up the good work! God bless ya Hun!

  • Does Black tea Rinses stop hair fall?

  • Is lipton a black tea?

  • how many tea bags do u brew for the rinse?

  • is lipton considered ablack tea ? I know this my be a dumb question

  • What can I do about my breakage?

  • Can this be done on cowash days?

  • how long after a relaxer can you do this rinse

  • @mrstucker1987....Usually on my next wash which is a week later

  • how long after a relaxer can i do this this rinse? thaks Trace

  • Is shedding the same as breakage?

  • @FruityMelody no, shedding is a normal process that the hair goes through. hair fall should have a white bulb attached to the end. the average fall is approx. 50-100 hairs a day. weak, dry, brittle hair breaks. hair that breaks along the strand can and does get split ends. healthy hair has moisture for pliability and protein for strength.

  • thank you..

  • Hi - It's interesting that it's black tea instead of green tea, as green tea is the one that's commonly used in many hair products. With that being said, have you ever tried a green tea rinse? I will definitely try the black tea, though. Thanks!

  • Hey Traycee! LOVE your videos & KISS (when I watch you, I feel like I'm talking to one of my girlfriends!!! My question is, can/would you refrigerate left over tea or would you make a new batch for each application? If so, how long do you suggest refrigeration? TIA!

  • @ShaunieStephenson ...Thanks Thanks Shaunie... Yes I usually throw my extra tea in the fridge...

  • i have shedding and i would like to try this to stop it or at least reduce it....

  • Can any brand of black tea be used? Thanks

  • @ellamassie410 ...Yes

  • I am experiencing postpartum shedding. I am EXCITED to try this tonight! Will post a vid of me doing this and see if it works! Thanx for the info love!

  • I just did it the way you do it, and it doesn't work for me :( you hair may be thicker than mine though. Next time, instead of applying conditioner before washing the tea out, I'll put the rinse on after shampooing, leave it on, rinse it out, then apply condish. Because that sh*t had my hair breaking more than desired. LOL! I'll be fine, lesson learned. This definitely feels like those intense protein treatments, so I'd suggest using it once a month maybe.....

  • @relaximdointhis The main point of doing these tea rinses is to stop the hair from excessive shedding not necessarily for strength. What I do is put the cooled brewed tea (I don't make as much as Tracee) into a empty spray bottle and spray the tea directly onto my scalp and then I co-wash and condition so I don't have the stiff hair feeling. I hope this helps you some.

  • I was wondering, what if I have a little bit of split ends (approximately 1/2 in.) and want my hair to continue to grow without cutting those ends, do you think the black tea will strengthen my ends? Or am I better off starting over with cutting my hair?

  • @WachaCalIit08 ... Sorry to say there is no way to mend or fix split ends.. You can trim a little at a time so you don't lose all your length at one time.. You can even hide them by using cones but you need to cut them . And to be honest 1/2 inch isn't losing much... I suggest cutting your damaged ends now .. B/c split ends can continue to split up and you will end up cutting more or can start to break

  • Hi Traycee, 3 quickies: do you suggest a specific brand or type of black tea (e.g. organic)? When you apply the tea (prior to adding condish), do you sit under the dryer? How do you store leftover tea?

  • do you still do this? I am thinking of trying it

  • Im soooo excited to try this and im already a tea freak lol

  • I have two shades in my hair, brown and black. mOstly due to relaxers over time and i've also been using honey. Can I use green tea and will it change my hair colour?

  • OMG!! I tried the tea-rinse as you suggested and it's now definately a part of my regimen! Thank you sooooo much!

  • yeah i'm asian and i've been shedding so much hair these days cos of stress and things.. i found your video and did the rinse a few times but i am still shedding .. can you help me? though the castor oil has made a difference to my hair!

  • Hi, I've been using these rinses to stop my shedding and so far so good. Thanks so much.

  • Does this work for white girls? I don't mean to sound racist or anything, but i havent seen any white girls doing this rinse, and i really want to try it..!

  • @crazyfashiondoll ...LOL... I understand... Yes you can use it too with the same benefits... Only thing I would suggest if your hair is lighter in color to use chamomile tea

  • How often do you do the rinse?

  • tetly black (*orange pekoe) tea is awesome. i drink it daily.

  • can you show us how is done

    in a video

  • do you do this weekly?

  • can you use mint tea

  • Thanks for this I have a shedding problem too !! I will be trying this next week!!

  • Hey i have a question, i use hair one on my hair and it's a conditional shampoo should i use black tee before I use my hair one or after?

  • Nevermind! I watched the entire vid:)

  • will it cover grey? lol

  • @sherrosgirl ...No it wouldn't cover gray

  • @KISSseventyseven...will the tea method stop breakage

  • Thanks for the info!!!

  • can yu do a vid on how you do it?

  • can you use regular tea or do it have to be black tea and can you use pepperment or green tea and where can you buy glycerin and how do you mix it

  • great video! I have to go and pick up some black tea!

  • Hi Traycee. I was wondering if I could use any other tea. Would it work just the same? Because using the black tea. Has made my hair brown!

  • @ToffeeChips19 .Yes you can use chamomile tea, white , green tea.... Just make sure that it contains caffiene

  • @KISSseventyseven oh yeah im natural too

  • Thank you thank you thank you. I have a question though I usually use a light protein before my deep condition-so can I do my light protein, rinse, pour the black tea then DC? Or is that too much protein?

  • i heard that coffee/tea rinses can help boost your hair color also

  • When do you detangle? I would like to try this. Typically I wash, rinse out and apply detangle in sections while applying deep conditioner, sit under a heat cap for 20-30 minutes and do a final rinse. Where can I incorporate applying the tea in addition to being able to detangle?

  • @yogawaga ..I detangle after I deep condition before I rinse the deep conditioner out

  • vitamin B12 works for me.

  • will vinilla black tea work... also if you stop sheding will your hair stop growing

  • can your tell myy exactly what Shedding is? :$ im not so good at english

  • @Sn0opie When the life of the hair strand is over. It falls out of your scalp. Almost like when a snake shed its skin. Its normal to shed because each strand has a life span. Its not meant to be on your head forever

  • @Sn0opie Shedding is when you are losing a COMPLETE hair strand. Breakage is breaking the hair strand in two. hope this helps. You shed 50 to 100 strands a day.

  • Thank you Tracee and thank you for the egg/mayo treatment video!

I will be trying it for the first time today!

  • can I mix/brew tea and coffee together for better affects

  • Hello! Thanks so much for the encouragement! I am a weave head vowing to go healthy and take care of my hair! Anywho my question is do you think if I brewed in my espresso machine (makes tea very stron) it would work the same..... I mean would I have to use as much or is strong brew why you let it sit so long?

  • Is this still working well for you? (As far as helping to reduce shedding in the long term. I'm going through my shedding phase now )

  • Thank you for this .

  • "I don't like doing a lot of work" That's what I'm talking about. I want to take it out of the jar, slap it on my head, sit, rinse it out and keep it pushing. Thanks for the 411

  • I dont understand why people would want to stop their shedding when its a natural process that you hair goes through..i dont think there is anything wrong with shedding.

  • @mzalaineyous People want to stop *excessive* shedding. That happens sometimes, e.g. post-partum, or other hormonal changes.Traycee tried this because her hair suddenly started shedding more than usual. And if you want to grow long hair, the less shedding, the longer time your strands have to grow, and the longer your hair gets. Why wouldn't you want to decrease it.

  • Hey Traycee,

if i don' t want my hair to be darker, can i use another tea ?

  • I enjoyed that video it has some information needed for shedding of the hair, does it really work? I have been natural for 5 months and I love it with the exception of my hair shedding crazy, I understand that the new growth is coming in and the old going out. I even went to as clipping 3 inches off my hair to try to help the situation. do you have any tips for making this transition.

  • If you have excessive shedding, please demand a blood test for thyroid disorders. I have recommended this to many friends who have experienced this issue as I have & some were diagnosed with a thyroid condition! Hair shedding & dryness are major symptoms of this disorder. Excessive shedding is not normal unless your hair & scalp are extremely damaged, or you have hormonal shifts( post pregnancy, menopause) & other reasons. Take the time & see your doc and get your thyroid checked!!

  • How often can u do the rinses?

  • @JuicyOne30 ....I do them 1x a week when needed

  • Its helped shedding and breakage right ?

  • @leoviolinmusic ....It helps with shedding not breakage

  • @leoviolinmusic it does help with breakage (esp if u have been in the sun) when spritzed on hair a couple times a week.

  • thanks for this info!! i'm excited to try this out. my hair has been shedding for a looong time now & It's really annoying & frustrating! i can't say that i've tried everything but i have tried a lot...but i'm wanting to try this to see how it works for me!! thanks for the great advice! :o)

  • You have to use black tea or can you use a different tea like lipton ?

  • i put some black tea in a water bottle and poked a hole in the top so i can just squirt it in my scalp whenever

  • Does it matter the brand of black tea that is used?

  • WHEN YOU APPLY THE TEA DOES IT NEED TO BE HEATED? OR COLD?

  • hey would u suggest doo grow products? to help hair grow n stop shedding

  • Hi TRacy, thank you for this information. I have tried it four times and have had no shedding at all. I've also used it in my sons hair. It smells really good when rinsing. I had braids in for a week and when I took them out, my hair did not shed at all. Normally when I take out my braids I lose a tremendous amount of hair do to shedding.. Now I'm afraid not to use the tea rinse.I used the large target band of black tea.Thank you

  • As a new subscriber to your channel and someone who has been battling shedding for some time, I thank you so much for sharing about the black tea rinses. I did it for the first time last night on freshly relaxed hair and I can see a huge improvement! It did appear to make my hair appear a little darker, but it doesn't matter because my hair is dark naturally. So thanks again and God Bless

  • Can regular Lipton tea bags be used or does it have to be "black" tea??

  • thank you

  • If you use black tea with orange pekoe, pekoe will it turn dark hair a orange or brownish color? I want to darken my grays and I read that the black tea works. I bought the tea and saw when I got home it had the orange pekoe in it and got scared that it would change the color of my hair. I will check out your blog and see what other info you have. Thanks in advance for answering my question.

  • thank you so much for this information, when i saw this video a few weeks ago i tried it almost immediately and surprisingly it works very well i have done this so far three times because i wash my hair every week. and am gonna continue doing it cause i really dont like seeing my hair shedding so much..i think the shedding alone stressed my out and am sure that contributed to more shedding. so thank you so much and continue sharing the wonderful information.

  • Sorry if someone asked this... I tried to read all the comments. But, do you still need to do your protein condish too. I usually use apoghee 2 minute after every wash, but I bought some black tea based on your review. Please let me know. See you on KISS! I'm BlessedSista!

  • @kammese ...Tea does not contain protein ...So if your hair needs protein then you would still need to do a protein treatment

  • can you do this on blonde colored hair?

  • @rosey02us1 ..I wouldn't because it darkens the hair...If you have blone hair you should use Chamomile Tea

  • I am too excited to start this. Instead of using the black tea rinse in conjunction with the deep conditioning, is it okay if I brew it and then use it as a leave-in spray? Because after I moisturize and seal at night, I spray my hair with Aphogee Leave-in conditioner. So instead I'm going to try using the black tea as a leave-in. What do you think?

  • @DSkillz2010 ...Yes some do use it as a leave in spray...I havent tried it yet...Please let me know how it goes

  • Thanks for the video - thumbs up! I have a question: can black tea be used in my pre-poo mix (coconut oil and a pH balanced conditioner)? Do think its more beneficial as a rinse than in pre-poo. Thanks in advance for responding!!!

  • I use Amla/Brami powder and make it into a tea instead of paste. The paste is too messy. :(

  • Hi Tracey thanks for the video. I was wondering whether it is ok to use the black tea rinse with a light protein conditioner or will this provide way too much strength to the hair?

  • @Essence1983 ....It should be fine I tried it the first time this weekend...I followed up with a moisturizing deep conditioner last

  • Great Info! I'll give it a try. It's time for me to let my hair out and breath.

  • when you apply the tea in your hair does

it need to be heated up? or cold?

  • u have taught me something new, so for that i have to subscribe to u, thanks...luckly i was washing my hair today and i came across ur video before i did it

  • Thank you sooooo much. I used coffee for a few weeks and it worked wonders. I too can't stand the smell of coffee so I finally got around to buying black tea. They both work wonders, and I will continue to use them consistently. I only use two tea bags per treatment because my hair is only BSL. Awesome info, you are the best!!!!

  • Girl I have tryed this twice, an it has done nothing, it seems to have made it worst lol.. oh God HELP lol

  • @LightAsAFeather22 ...Shedding can be caused by so many different things...If you havent changed your diet or your not under stress... I strongly suggest going to the dr. and getting checked out... Serious shedding is a sign that something is wrong or missing from your diet..Or even something serious

  • @KISSseventyseven Like what? u got me scared now, lol, its not shedding nomore now, I guess these rinses just arent for my hair type, because it made my hair super dry even with dcing, i did everything u did!!

  • This sounds great, I am going to give it a try. Do you brew and steep the tea each time you wash? Or do you make enough to use for a few future washes?

  • @AngelxIce ...I just make a enough for that one wash

  • Wow I've never hear of this! This sounds interesting and like an ancient remedy! Please do an update video about this in 6 months. Thank you

  • @sweetfm2008 ....Will do...Every rinse it just gets better and better

  • Will this darken the hair? Thats my only concern with this. I'd like to keep my color!

  • @saraahlang2001 ...Yes it will...But you can do the tea rinses with any type of tea as long as it as caffeine...Like white tea, green tea, etc...They won't darken your hair and you get the same benefits...Just make sure their not caffeine free when you purchase them

  • Thank you so much...I've done the rinse twice already and I can tell a huge difference plus using some of Bee Mine products(thanks for the 10%) works WONDERS!

Thank you so much...Continue sharing! I'm a believer!

  • Just came back to say I loved my results! I still had some shedding but not as much as usual. My hair felt noticeably stronger after the rinse and after I dc'd and rinse it was strong but soft (if that makes sense LOL) I plan to do this once a week. Definitely part of my regimen now! Thanks again! (Hope those tea stains come out of my white towel! ;-)

    ~Tink (BHM)/Tinker Bell (KISS)

  • @TotallyTyra ....Glad it worked for you...You will get less and less shedding with each rinse....

Yes you need to becare of staining....It washed out of my towels with no problems though

  • Thanks for the advice... Now would you recommend roller setting or blowdrying the hair?

  • @ mrswimberly08... Thanks for the advice... I'll def try that!!

  • My hair is relaxed.

  • I'm relaxed...

  • Hey... I have a question... I apologize if someone has asked you this already but I would like to minimize the amt of times I go to the salon and I wanted to know if you had any advice on how to wash my hair... Whenever I do it my hair tangles up and I have a hard time detangling it... So I just gave up.. I know it's not going to look like the way it would if I went to a salon but I would like for it to look at least decent you know... Any ideas ?? Thanks!

  • @nhonore1 ...Are you relaxed or natural

  • @nhonore1 nioxin thermal bliss is one of the best detanglers ever and it works as a leave in

  • How often can this be done? I wash twice a week. Would after every wash (twice per week) be too often? =/

(Sorry if this is a repeat question. Don't think I saw anyone ask). Thx ;-)

  • @SexyToria ...I have been doing it Mid week and on the weekends (2x a week)

  • How often can this be done? I wash twice a week. Would after every wash be too often? =\

(Sorry if this is a repeat question. I don't think I saw anyone else ask but I could be wrong).

    Thx ;-)

  • @SexyToria ... I do it twice a week ...But 1x a week works great also

  • Thank you so much for doing this video. I'm working on growing my hair back out and stretching my relaxers up to 7months, I have had a lot of shedding. So thank you, thank you, thank you lol

  • I love tea rinses. I mix my own choice of herbs and my hair feels so much healthier doing this regimen.

  • Thanks for the helpful tips... You are truly amazing>

  • I bought the first black tea that you showed at Walmart today for either $1.96 or $1.98 for 25 bags! I can't wait to try it!

    ~Tink(BHM)/Tinker Bell (KISS)

  • can you show us exactly how you do it like a tutorial please?

  • @ExotiqBeautii ...Sure I will try to do it next week

  • i have black tea leaves i'm not sure if the leaves have caffeine in it or not, but i will give it a try,

  • i have black tea leaves i'm not sure if the leaves have caffeine in it or not, but i will give it a try,

  • i love love this video and i am so going to try this because i love that its so simple and easy too do.

  • Can green tea be used? It has caffeine too. I'm thinking if someone wants the black color from the tea, they would prefer the black, right? Also can the tea be spritzed on before hand or does clean hair make the absorption better?

  • @Mum2L ...Yes any tea with caffeine can be used..The only benefits to the black tea is that it is higher in caffeine and darkens the hair..So any tea with caffeine will work great...

Clean hair helps it absorb into the hair better I think....

  • Can green tea be used? It has caffeine too. I'm thinking if someone wants the black color from the tea, they would prefer the black, right?

  • @Mum2L ...Yes you can use any tea that has caffeine...Black tea just has the most amount of caffeine but one w/caffeine can be used

  • Crazy...I co-washed this morning and asked myself what I need to do to stop with all the shedding...then boom...here is a video that answers my question exactly. Thanks for the post. I can't wait to try it!

  • hey Traycee :-) i'm going to start the tea rinses in my own hair next week. just one question: does it matter if i do a shampoo or cowash before the tea rinse application?

  • @redraf04 ...If your shampooing do that first...If you co wash then do the tea rinse you will have to follow up either way with a moisturizing conditioner

  • @KISSseventyseven : thank you Traycee :-)

  • Tracy, I just put braids in my hair ..do you think I would be able to do this with the braid in ?

  • Great tip, thanks

  • Thanks so much for sharing this information I appreciate it so much. How is your mother doing??

  • Definitely will try out.

  • i going to get this today for my daughter thank you

  • Great info. I started looking up the benefits of tea rinses when you mentioned you'd be doing a video on your blog. I can't wait to try this because I always have tea and it's so easy to do. Thanks for the great info.

  • @blessedwmnofgod ...Your a researcher too..hahahah...I'm going to blog Monday on the different benefits and provide links on this...Thanks for following my blog also

  • @KISSseventyseven Yes, I love research lol. I'll definitely be checking your blog on the benefits and links. You're welcome and your blog is ALWAYS full of interesting useful info.

  • Thank you for the information! It is something I like to try, though I don't have much shedding I would like to know how my hair will feel like after the process and since it is suppose to stimulate growth.

  • @Adelster ....Right after the rinse your hair will feel as if you did a light protein...Thats why you follow up with your moisturizing conditioner....After deep conditioning my hair it felt great !!!...I could not actually feel the stimulating effect though

  • Thanks for sharing I will try this

  • when it darkens the hair is it dark permanently? or does it back to normal eventually?

  • Hi Traycee! Thank you soooooo much for this info. I've heard garlic works but I honestly just don't want to deal w/ the smell. I've been following you for about a year now and I know you mentioned previously that you've had some scalp issues.... I was wondering if it is seborrheic dermatitis. I ask because that's what I have and sometimes what you describe sounds like it.

  • @BreakageInAtlanta ...No I didn't have have seborrheic dermatitis...I suffer from dry and very sensitive skin...I had the same itchy problem not just on my scalp but my whole body

  • Girl they have that tea at Walmart!! The funny thing about it is I just left walmart and hour ago and My dad wanted some black tea and he know good and well he is not going to drink it!! l0l so now I have something else to add to my healthy hair regimen b/c I would like to stop shedding as well!! God Bless!!

  • @MsLadyDiva06 ...Hahahaha..Its just black tea..You can buy it anywhere...Cheap and easy to find

  • im going to try this out

  • Thanks for the vid, I may have to try this method :)

  • Hey Tracy...does this help with breakage....because i have been having crazy breakage i dont know why but its happenening....ive been bunning for liek 2 weeks straight now but man idk...But does this help with breakage

  • @pamela27 ...You need to find out the root of your breakage...It would have to me lack of moisture or you need protein...If your hair is mushy or stretchy or really soft with breakage I would suggest protein..If your hair feels dry , or breaks and snaps easy you probably need protein..

Look up wet strand test and porosity test to help you narrow down the problem

  • @KISSseventyseven thanks tracee.....because i dont understand i have midback length hair....but all this breakage maes my hai rlook awfulll.....But i will look into this more

  • I love your glasses!

  • interesting, might try this one day

  • Thanks for sharing Traycee. I've been hearing about tea rinses for a long time, just never got around to trying. I'm gonna try it out soon. It should work great for my dry dc's.

    ~Pokahontas
