Does anyone know where can I get the original uncensored version? I've been searching for YEARS and all that I find is the english dubbed censored one. Please! :(
Oh, what I wouldn't give for a DVD of the original French-language version of this film! (The English version has a horrible dubbed narration.) It's one of the most beautiful and mysterious things ever put on film.
This film, premiered @ Demille, NYC. of blessed memory, has remained a favorite of all who saw it in its original release. Even Rex Reed, who didn't like *anything* in the '60s, mentions it *twice* in his collection, BIG SCREEN,LITTLE SCREEN. This dream sequence was especially arresting in a BIG theater in its original Technirama format---2.35-1, this fragment is 1.66-1. The original color was called "rich and creamy as viper's milk" by TIME Magazine, one of many good reviews. Glad it's *here*.
I am still sitting here in disbelief!..have been looking for this film since, the time I first layed eyes on that, being tender eleven years old..watching this in a little movie-theater between my fingres, in "wonnegrausen", with lustful fear..crawling intö the seat, but being unable to take my eyes off!
I would love for this to be released to dvd remastered and restored. It will happen eventually. THe dream sequence is glorious.
