Yeah the dress is awful. The song is great though. I love the lyrics, these are so true. A pity that most Europeans can't understand the lyrics, otherwise it might have gotten a better rating. Thanks for all your comments European brothers! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Ik heb het altijd een mooi lied gevonden, maar sinds in het Vrije Schaep (met de vijf pooten) Carry Tefsen (Opoe Withof) dit lied zong, ben ik helemaal gevallen.
This song actually grows on me. When I first heard the song in 1977, I was only 13 and found it very boring indeed. Now more than 30 years later, I really liked this song especially now I know what its lyrics mean and I find the melody very nice as well. Isn't it strange to see how taste changes as one grows older.
And anyway - you lot are all left wing wishy washy "talk alot-say nothing" sit-on-the-fence farts - you dont know what shit stirring was if it hit you in the face - I tell things as they are - you dont like it TOUGH - i live in the real world - not some "nicey nicey" commercial / advert plastic scenario - *raspberry* & v sign!!!!!
A fantastic song, I always had hoped she would continue a singing career, but she mainly went into theater performances. Was great to see her again at the Dutch National Final this year 2009!
The Mallemolen is a synonym for a crazy carroussel. She sings about the carroussel of life which turns around and around, with or without you. So you better join: for anyone there is a horse free in the carroussel of life.
A nice song about never wavering in front of situations that might seem frightening at first, nicely metaphored as the 'carousel'. Still, what is up with that dress?! I can feel my eyes burning as I'm looking at it!
Non Dutch speakers can find the lyrics on the internet and use Google Translate: I did that. It's worth doing.

Totally. This applies to all sorts of music. I couldn't stand Blur's "Country House" when I was a kid, but today I love it.

And you are as dull as dishwater & have had a humour bypass - we cant all think being "fun" as dressing as a woman!

Beautiful song, beautifully performed by Heddy Lester... very underrated. Should have won.

@samboxed
This song is much superior than the winning song.
The lyrics, the melody and performance were
simply great. This was overlooked by the Juries.

Her dress looks like a curtain!
Yet this should be the winner.
Very nice song from the Netherlands.

Did Heddy and Michele Torr shop at the same haberdasher? (See "Monaco 1977") It is a poignant song I must admit, makes me wish I understood Dutch.
