The majority should never be allowed to vote on the rights of the minority.
The problem with civil unions is it's a "separate but equal" sort of deal. Before there were separate schools and drinking fountains for blacks, now there are separate civil institutions for gays and they can't serve in the military.
Hopefully within a few decades discrimination against gays will be looked down on with scorn. We're not there yet, and it could be tough slogging because of religious stupidity.

The Catholic Church, for example, believes that homosexual acts are wrong, but still says that they should be treated with respect. For example, the hateful Fred Phelps is homophobic, but the Pope is not.

Futhermore, I'm not against divorce. I know that sometimes things don't work out (they person my turn out to be a loser, cheater, violent). So yes, allow people to get divorce. However, I think there should be a section 9 on that. Where people should only be allowed to get married ONCE. If you mess up the first time too bad. There are some women and some men who can't bear CHILDREN I suppose if they got married, it would be quite UNNATURAL (and useless) - since they can't reproduce. My objection to gay marriage is based upon my belief that a man and woman provide the best environment to raise a child, Sodomite.
I believe same sex marriages would only serve to diminish marriage.

Sorry it took me so long to respond - First off Leviticus is in the Torah which is Jewish not Christian hence me saying Christian Bible - and yes I am fully aware that it is in the Old Testement ( First 5 books of the bible but not for Christians ) but there is a reason why Christians do not follow the laws therein - it is to show us where we come from not where we are . My garden has a high wall not a fence and I don't even know anybody with a dog!
