It has removed an illusion for me. The illusion that a visit to Ryoanji would be a tranquil experience. With even the Japanese pilgrims (usually the most civic minded citizens anywhere in the world, perhpas) too being so voluble at Ryoanji, I doubt it would be a worthwhile pilgrimage and experience. Are there no rules requiring complete silence once visitors are allowed onto the premises?
