  • Sounds like "Dirty Old Town" by the Pogues to me

  • No pitch shifter, no over dubbed crap, just a real guy singing a real song! Not Nashville smooth, thank goodness.

  • I love this song and I think Aiden Quinn does a great rendition of it. His raw voice just adds to the emotion and authenticity. Just listen to some of the real mountain singers and you will hear the beauty of a raw voice. No cookie cutter crap like in most music today.

  • @Dancer3Thunder : exactly. there is a realness that the media masses simply cannot capture. bored! so bored with the digitized voices of today. that's why i love this music. the simplicity of their voices. actual feeling. not bedazzled and hairsprayed.

  • I think Aiden Quinn did a lovely job singing this. Pure and simple. Could listen to it over and over.

  • Id rather hear him sing than some of that pop bubble gum crap they pass off as music these days.

  • Aidaen sings this as it should be sung: untrained & with emotion.

  • beautiiful dirge!

  • I like the way which Aidan Quinn sings this song. I'm sure that other artist sing it just as well or maybe better, but this version is fine.

  • this is how music should be(:

  • A sad state of America when this piece has only 30 likes. We who adore bluegrass are countercultural. The mainstream disdains us, yet WE are America.

  • Booooo !!! Ads on youtube. Boooooo !!!!!

  • Booooo !!! Adson youtube. Boooooo !!!!!

  • True about the singing. The Appalachian singers had sometimes primitive-sounding voices, but they were always on pitch! Going flat is excruciating. Get someone else to sing it! Pull Pete Seeger out of retirement or something..

  • @ferociousgumby I don't think songs like this (especially sung over this type of incident) are so much about pitch as they are about the emotion in the voice, and the reaction they invoke in those listening. Quinn puts some decent emotion into this scene.

  • @ferociousgumby Primitive voice goes with the mountain song. They are one and the same. Beautiful.

  • Aiden Quinn fairly butchers this GORGEOUS song, but I love the macabre footage of a coffin en route to the graveyard in some forsaken, remote, mountain cemetery. This video won't be up long - the copyright police have routinely taken it down when it's been posted before.

  • @stillwaterguy04 Damned copyright police, I love this song ;) And who sings this song in original?

  • @avorozheev IF im not mistaken it was written for the movie and no one has recorded it or can for that matter. I may be totally wrong but seems like i read that somewhere.

  • Makes me homesick for my North Carolina home. Loved the movie and the music.

  • @insandysmind Yup, been living in California for years, but gramma and family hails from NC in the mountains. This movie resonated with me along with the music. I have to say Aidan Quinn deserves accolades, he does sing this song I am a linguist. Sometimes things touch your heart and have taken up the banjo in a weird hommage.

  • This was an intensely beautiful movie! EXCELLENT song as well..

  • really liked this song in the movie.

  • Aiden Quinn is HOT. First song I learned to play on guitar.

  • Wonderfull song :)
