  • Nice playing and song!

    Does it have movable frets?

  • ¡Mira que se han hecho variedad de instrumentos musicales a lo largo de la historia! ¡Y qué hermosa música sale de ellos cuando son bien tocados!

  • stunning

  • what kind of instrument is that..

  • Esto es asombroso! gracias!

  • we need to have a modern day band with a lute mandolin, accordon, viola, and a harpsicord. just to throw people off

  • ...it seems to me in so much of the Scottish lute, you can hear the pipes! Beautifully played! Christopher Kohut

  • Hi Dr. Tayler,

This summer I had the pleasure of playing the other two von holst archlutes that are on this continent, Sarge's and Sylvain's. I prefer Sarge's, but he himself said that he prefers yours. Anyway, I'm experimenting with temperaments on my archlute at the moment and I'm wondering what yours is on this video ? It looks like 1/4 comma meantone, is it ? Best wishes from up north !

  • @10stringGuitarist quarter comma meantone

  • Why aren't there any double strings?

  • @Aristowi For Scottish music I use harp technique

  • wow, beatiful voice conduction, wich piece is tis? and the autor?, tanks

  • This isn't an Arabian instrument @TermianlSulcus

Also, @Walvis2007 how low are those bass notes? Do they get like first A on a piano low or no? ( I mean how low do they sound, I'm pretty sure they aren't that low ! )

  • @TheEternalLeader The lowest note is F at baroque pitch which is 41 Hz. The lowest note on a big piano is 27 Hz. The theorbo then has a lowest note similar to the double bass.

  • @Walvis2007 Thanks for the info ! That is very useful to me !

  • David it is so beautiful to see the passion in your playing, please put a CD out and show the world your love, share it and God Bless you.

  • This is so good a tune, does guitar sheet music for it exist anywhere.?

  • He must be one of the few remaing archlute players left in the world. unless there is a huge archlute revival I'm acutly unaware of.

  • woah, thats a cool looking instrument

  • This performance of It is a Wonder To See, is a wonder to hear.

  • He made it looked simple

  • Hey David, do you have any idea at all where I can find the tablature for this? I know it's in the straloch MS, but I only want a single piece out of it (This piece), so I don't want to pay for the full manuscript

  • I've been trying for months now to find words for David's skills ! lol, what a silly idea, nothing will do. Thanks for lovely post ! ;-)

  • This is gorgeous. I can't stop listening.

  • dave u smile too much

  • Oh my goodness! The tone of this instrument is unmatchable!

  • RESEMBLANCE TO INDIAN "SAROD"

  • David, i think that you should add your solo playing to the Voices Of Music CDs

  • David, i just love this song and the way that you play. Its a pleasure to see and hear you solo. I love what you, Hanneke and the others have given to the world.

  • Hello David, first i would like to wish you and all of your loved ones and the voices of music a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. That was lovely the way you play and also refreshing to hear and see a master at work.

  • Wow! I'm knocked out. I don't suppose you're coming to Seattle any time soon?

  • Greetings Dr. Tayler ! My sincere congratulations ! As usual, this is absolutely marvelous done with taste, style, and your special artistic touch. I am a student of Ray Nurse. Best wishes !

  • Which is the usefulness of the five top strings?

  • @zxshocker They come in handy when you need some low notes :)

  • @Walvis2007 They are sympathetic resonators which inhance the sound of the instrument.

  • @RMartin973 The long strings are the lowest octave, each string plays one note like a harp.

  • You are a ROCK STAR! beautiful, David!

  • so good love its voice and look like Thai music :)
