This summer I had the pleasure of playing the other two von holst archlutes that are on this continent, Sarge's and Sylvain's. I prefer Sarge's, but he himself said that he prefers yours. Anyway, I'm experimenting with temperaments on my archlute at the moment and I'm wondering what yours is on this video ? It looks like 1/4 comma meantone, is it ? Best wishes from up north !
Also, @Walvis2007 how low are those bass notes? Do they get like first A on a piano low or no? ( I mean how low do they sound, I'm pretty sure they aren't that low ! )
@TheEternalLeader The lowest note is F at baroque pitch which is 41 Hz. The lowest note on a big piano is 27 Hz. The theorbo then has a lowest note similar to the double bass.
Hey David, do you have any idea at all where I can find the tablature for this? I know it's in the straloch MS, but I only want a single piece out of it (This piece), so I don't want to pay for the full manuscript
David, i just love this song and the way that you play. Its a pleasure to see and hear you solo. I love what you, Hanneke and the others have given to the world.
Hello David, first i would like to wish you and all of your loved ones and the voices of music a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. That was lovely the way you play and also refreshing to hear and see a master at work.
Greetings Dr. Tayler ! My sincere congratulations ! As usual, this is absolutely marvelous done with taste, style, and your special artistic touch. I am a student of Ray Nurse. Best wishes !
Nice playing and song!

Which is the usefulness of the five top strings?
zxshocker 1 year ago 2
@zxshocker They come in handy when you need some low notes :)
Walvis2007 1 year ago
@Walvis2007 They are sympathetic resonators which inhance the sound of the instrument.
RMartin973 1 year ago
@RMartin973 The long strings are the lowest octave, each string plays one note like a harp.
