that is the same lakisha jones from american idol to those who say it isnt i'm from and still currently living in flint, michigan and i remember this super show performance and if you look at the year it was in 1997 waaaaaaay before she had her baby so of course in a 10 yr time she would ahve put on weight.

i remember this show! i use to go to the super show every year, until they cancelled it. This guy named Super Dave use to host the show. I was young during this time tho. She went to my grandfathers church called Mt. Zion shes a great singer.

Lakisha would have won AI if she wasn't so fat. sorry to say that, but it really makes a difference in the way people feel about you and treat you. If she would have dropped 70 pounds, she would be crowned over melinda any day. Too bad for her.

I agree there's a lot of fat prejudice, but Melinda was definitely the better singer, she was more versatile and expressed more feeling in her singing. Lakisha had a bigger voice, but less feeling, she was number two, but still excellent. Apparently, Aretha Franklin said in an interview Lakisha should have won.

I get SICK reading these blogs!!! UGH you people or sooooo out of touch it's unreal! What Lakisha is singing here is traditional GOSPEL or as we call it CHURCH music. SHe is singing for the lord and that beats anything she sings on American Idol anyday! I don't think this is the same Lakisha Jones. She's much taller than the one on Idol and her voice sounds totally different. Yes, people's voice can change, but not that much in such a short period of time. 10 years really isn't all that long.

We were born with a natural life expectancy of 40 to 45 years. We just sucked it up and did something about it. (This video is so bad I've decided to write this reply. Sorry guys.) When you strip away all the deceit, (almost impossible!) around 4 per thousand overweight people have a cause that they cannot do anything about. That would exclude kids who have nothing to eat but "bloat-amatic" junk: that' just bad parenting.

Yeah no shit. Not all peope that are overweight can help it there is such a thing as genetics... you know, endomorph, ectomorph, and mesomorph what a jackass. Some of the most healthy active people I know are overweight. My boyfriend can't get life insurance because he' 'overweight' what he is is extremely heavy boned who has wrestled for years. His legs are like 50 pds of muscle each!!

In a way she has a lot more to prove than anyone else there, I hope Chris wins, he is original and he has probably the most potential as he's already better than any guy his age in the charts.

why, cause he can beatbox and sing, the only reason he sounds original is because he changes the arrangements so much, he can't perform aswell as chris and when chris goes further which he definitely will it will confirm. Chris doesn't sound like justin he just looks a bit like him, his style is completely different, their rhythms are the opposite chris can't dance by the looks of things. But ok I acept you disrespecting my opinion and we'll have to just see. no disrespect!
