aite guys whoever the FUCK ever so honestly and guiltlessly makes fun of the Aussie accent is a fuckin hater and has a lot to anger to expend. Aussie accent is the FUCKING best in the world. British accent against the Aussie, sounds like a bunch of slow and stoned motherfuckers, just to set that old shag straight.
Just 3 Australian accents??? Really? Have any of these people actually lived in Australia. Sydney has 3 accents alone and people from Melbourne talk differently and I'm sure Queensland has its own accent too.
@sissygamache And American accent? Really? That's far too general. Almost every state in the US has its own accent and several accents within those regions.
Says something about the world when a five year old can nail a perfect american accent. I wonder how many american kids can do the same for a foreign accent?
I'm English, myself, and I happen to think the Aussie accent is the best in the world. It can be wonderfully laid back, or incredibly smooth and refined (think 1940s American accents, but better). Geoffrey Rush is the perfect example of a great Australian accent. Listen to the man speak and then try and say the Australian accent isn't wonderful.
ok so here is my questions. on 3:32 - 4:12 which accent did sydney ppl use to speak english? HELP me i'm not aussie so i need to know how ppl in sydney usually speak english. which of that 3 accent they normally use?
@MyLylya1 Australians speak either in a general, broad or cultivated accent, but unusually, these are,on the whole,NOT tied to region. However,as a general rule, the General accent is the most common, esp in the big cities like Sydney.See clip on my channel.Think of an accent like Hugh Jackman or Rachel Griffiths-that's the most common one. However,as we're a multicultural nation,no one really cares about which accent you use to speak English-even your own-as long as you speak clearly.Good luck!
Aussies are certainly not losing their accent .... I agree we have always had the main three variations as the girl describes. What is funny is that many of my family on my mothers side have the broad Aussie accent and when I get around them I slip into a broader way of speech ... but usually I have the general accent. I think most Aussies are capable of modulating between the broad Aussie and the general ... without thinking too hard.
I prefer english accents, then australian and american (southern accents) saw a clip with robbin williams where he said "australians are english rednecks" I would take that as a compliment, yanks sound like robots lol (:
@sunonthewindow I saw John Clarke in a very similar program about the New Zealand accent. That accent he uses actually seems to be the same one he had back in his days playing the NZ character Fred Dag in the 1970s in b&w clips I have seen of it. Either way he is extra funny and perfect choice to do this show, NZer or not!

An Aussie accent sounds so much better than both British and American English, in my opinion. It's quite charming and it makes me regret attending an American Language School for my entire life.
australian accents are cute as hell on girls. as much as australians don't wanna hear it, though, it does sound somewhat english. and if any australians think their accent is bad if it makes you feel any better we got accents here in the states that are 10 times worse. some british accents are really annoying too. watch jeremy kyle and you'll see what i mean.
hi I am spanish speaker and I went to study to Aus..for me at the beginning it was a little bit confused to understand them because I learnt American English.

@lillygmail American english is not real english, its bastardised english, us Aussies have the closest accent to the British, so we have better Englsih then the Americans.
@85Aheadstix hi oh really? for me British is easy to understand and then Aussie.. but american mmm is kind of complicated. in my country Colombia only teach american ( too sad)...and I agree with you cheers.
@lillygmail Hehe funny! In my country, Sweden, we're taught to speak with a British accent but than many students choose American either way (which is sad if you ask me). Than there's also a whole bunch of people that don't care about accents and so they speak some kind of weird Swenglish... (which is even more sad).
I never learned ''american english'' I learned UK english... .-. I hate that accent.. prefer the australian accent
