this is dumb because you havent taken off the negative battery terminal..you can cause a short easily

@Flysohighx21 Yes, in theory the battery should be disconnected but in the really practical world removing the battery could cause more harm then good for instance, if the customer has a check engine light by removing a lead or two from the battery terminal will cause the engine code to be erased which could lead to engine damage by the owner driving the car while the computer has to accumulate miles of data to generate a malfunction code to re illuminate the engine light. The list goes on &on!

If you change the radio in a 2002 Accord EX V6 does it affect the security system which has light blinking on radio? Also doe it affect the garage door opener ?

@denchap27 The radio is very independent from the rest of the car. The

security system is located in the fuse box and you should notice a red light flashing at the drivers door and the garage door openner module is located in the roof

so you'll be fine in removing your radio!

@denchap27 no it does not affect the vehicle security system it's purpose is to remind a thief that this radio will not work when it removed from the vehicle
