I've gotten into acouple of arguements with people who are fans of Dimmu Borgir's old stuff an say its better then Cradle Of Filth's old stuff..... But i clearly don't see it.. Dani is more clever with his lyrics then Shagrath is.. I like both band's in there own ways.. Dimmu now is better then Cradle i think cause their just all out heavier. I grew up on Cradle of Filth so they will always be my favorite no matter what..

The major problem with "Principle" is that it's a studio album, the band was playing their songs at high speed from the beginning but for some reason they put out really slow recordings. This album marks the REAL CoF once they stopped trying so hard to be a Black Metal band

@brrapscrollcheck sounds? I don't think they sound like Emperor at all. CoF have always had the extreme gothic influence it's a British 80s trend for a British band. Emperor don't, they're more raw like the traditional black metal following Mayhem but being more melodic. Just opinions. The only similarities I see between the two bands is they're both black metal and have synthesises in there to amplify the lead part of the guitars.

And as for "[Emperor] are more raw like the traditional black metal following Mayhem but being more melodic", Emperor's sound is 100% symphonic black metal, which is significantly different from Mayhem's sound and the sound of the more raw "traditional" black metal. Incidentally, this era of Cradle of Filth is classed as symphonic black metal.
