I totally digg the "old" anime style, like in Cowboy Bebop, Vampire Hunter D and this. Way more realistic, I prefer the 'darkness' rather than the "happy world" animes.

Agreed. And honestly, all the CG is too much. I just loved the 2D animation back in the day because you could really see the detail. CG is just supposed to enhance the animation, and not be the animation itself. A good example would be Macross Plus. To this day I feel it is the greatest blend of traditional and CG animation. Perfect balance.

Definatly the best Anime I have ever seen.

I have even watched countless anime series' that don't even compare to this, and with anime series' you can explain the characters so much, but in Ninja Scroll they explain the characters and the story line in about an hour and thirty minutes. It's a really awesome anime.

An anime serie that is very similar to Ninja scroll is "Basilisk" The anime movie Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust is similar in the style which the chracters were drawn, but as you've watched such a great amount of anime's, i think you already new these 2

Bloodlust is very similar to this and the enemies in Bloodlust are about as bad as the ones here in Ninja Scroll. I haven't heard of Basilisk. I will try it out though.

and they have nice fightscenes that aren't too long and aren't too short. With Anime series, they do explain the characters well, but they have alot more time to do it. Ninja Scroll is a movie of 1hour:30mins and they do a great job of fitting as much as they can into it without rushing it too much, if you get me.

Yeah I've seen those 2. Basilisk is a nice series, very similar to Ninja Scroll in that it's samurai and it's got a similar plot of love etc. I didn't find Vampire Hunter that good. The animation wasn't anything special. The plot's a bit samey bamey. Not my type of Anime. Just to elaborate on my first comment, Ninja Scroll seems to fit alot more in and at a nice pace. I think they explain the different attributes of the 7 demons quite well in a short amount of time....

Which Vampire Hunter D did you see? The second one is very similar to Ninja Scroll in my opinion, try watching it again if possible it is good. But, of course, Ninja Scroll is king. I salute thee!

I had seen lots of anime before this one. Robotech, Voltron, G-Force(before I even heard the word "anime"). Akira was the first full length movie I saw but Ninja Scroll completely blew me away. God this came out in 93? I remember when it was first released on VHS it was mind blowing at the time in the wake of the old anime from the 80's (save for Akira). Really innovative for it's time. Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell and nothing of that calibur since.
