The biggest threat to free speech is money. You can say whatever you want, but the ability of someone who has the money to spend on disseminating his or her message wider than I do, who has the money to pay for 'media-friendly messaging', completely drowns out my speech.
While we argue liberal-conservative trivialities the bankers continue running the country and ripping everyone off. The problem with the ignorance of both the liberals and the conservatives is causing misery in most everyone's life.
"It's the left wing of this country that's truly intolerant and self-righteous" - Well I could say that just about EVERY country. Just take a look at Europe - especially western Europe. This is a region that's been dominated by leftists from just after WWII until this very day and the results are staggering to say the least. Western European countries are practically left-wing dictatorships in terms of free speech. They even have a name for it - "pense unique" - do some homework about this term.
"It's the left wing of this country that's truly intolerant and self-righteous"
That's been my experience as well. I find it astounding that some people -- in the name of tolerance, mind you -- will fastidiously attempt to filter every thought, word, and deed of society down into the narrowest of views. For people like this, it's not enough to disagree with the opinion of someone else; the other person must also be punished.
Once upon a time, people called "liberals" drafted a couple of documents called the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. They fought for individual liberty and limited government power.
Nowadays, there's no longer such thing as liberals or conservatives in government or the corporate media. There are only globalists and agents of globalists.
"liberalism means of or pertaining to freedom, Liberals as we know them today have hijacked the word and changed it's meaning to being Liberal with other people's money."
@Finnbar01 it is not just liberal......the conservatives keep voting in the politicians that sell them out, are constantly in wars or starting new wars. There is really no difference, ignorance abound in both groups.
CAIR is a co-sponsor and collaborating organization of the terrorist organization Hamas. Sublectivists (subjective collectivists) on the liberal side commenly side with the terrorists because they have a common enemy, a secular objective freedom government, individual rights and western philosophy.
Juan Williams I do not agree with 99% of the time.. but at least he will debate and concede on issues from time to time.. He is a good guy.. He is the kind of Democrat that is good for their party... And look how they treated him..
The real reason he lost his job was because he wasn't as anti Paul as the rest of the TV. He went as far as to say that Ron Paul actually had a chance of whinning. Unforgivable...
@VegasBilgeRat Obsessed? Certainly, but Juan was less critical of Paul and much more positive than his teammates. You can't deny that both left and right oriented newsorganisations want to write Paul off. Perhaps there were other reasons as well and I do not deny that, but I hoped I could get away without being 100% accurate in 256 characters. I also hoped that I won't be called a dumpass for but that was really naive of me.
John I hate to tell you that Fox has become just as bad buddy. Why don't they put Alex Jones information on? Why don't they air the truth about 9/11 and the underwear bomber. I was totally devoted to Fox until my cable was cut in a construction accident then I found the real truth. Now they have suspended Posse Comitatus why is FOX not reporting this, because Fox is allowing a slow implementation of these socialist and Marxist government. By still promoting the left right.. It is one party.
@crazypants88 Half truths are still lies, but I can concur your right John does try to shed the light. I have nothing to say about Mr. Stossel and Honorable Judge Napolitano..
That statement was a little broad and I apologize. 8)

Check-out the current case of Mrs. Emma West, political prisoner in Leftist-occupied Britain for her free speech.

As a classical liberal I have stopped counting the number of times some conservatives people shout at me because they think I'm a "stupid liberal".
Big thanks to Stossel for pushing the word and some real facts !

Liberals are the new puritans. They are the temperance movement against freedom of speech and freedom of thought.

As a black thinker, Jaun Williams has to deal with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton muddying his ideological waters. That really does have to be tough.
.
As a Libertarian, I'm constantly dealing with blow-back from Glenn Beck's antics...
