  • My friend Bob ... Keep well !!!

  • YES

I can't thank you enough i love this band. seeing them live RULES

  • YES

  • This is Try And Stop Me(first track)

  • I love this - thanks for posting!!

  • More like 1968, not 1966.

  • 1967

  • Take it we are not going to get right song title on this ? . Try and stop me

  • Cool stuff, but I think I prefered Kenny Picket on vocals. Mind you, Kenny found a new Job pretty soon after rodieing for Led Zeppelin.

  • @departments2006 For sure. Kenny Picket = Painter Man and Making Time

  • @hardstuff72 Kenny Pickett was the leader of the band and the best singer for the band. Of course with Bob Garner's songs, the band showed versality, but Garner alone, the band looks naked.

    Eddie Phillips saves it though.

  • Yeah the older singer was wayy better

  • By the way: the first song's called "Try and stop me" (B-side to "Making time"), the second "If I stay too long", an A-side on the European continent.

  • Is 'If I stay too long' a cover of a soul record? because it sounds alot like a soul record and the mods bands were doing that alot!

  • No, " If I stay too long" was not a cover, it was an original Creation composition by guitar player Eddie Phillips and singer (& ex-bass player) Bob Garner. On the contrary, it was covered in 1968 by Dutch producer Hans van Hemert who gave it to new band Big Wheel, who built there reputation on the back of a hit on which they didn' t play and sing.

  • I know what theold means tho, I always imagine Otis Redding singing this. KILLLLER track!!

  • Im with RedDragoneye on this, I ALWAYS picture Otis Redding singing this! Either way, what a tune!!!

  • Iv the US vershion uploadid

  • DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • striking resemblance with the who.interestingly, this type of music was successful in germany but not in the usa or other parts of europe.great though...

  • This is the second line-up of the band, singer Kennie Pickett had been kicked out and bassist Bob Garner took over on lead vocals. Kim Gardner is on bass here. The band would go through many changes, including at one point Ron Wood on lead guitar replacing the incomparable Eddie Phillips. Wood recorded a great single with The Creation: "For all that I am".

  • Why was Kenny Pickett kicked out?

  • Well, I'm quoting Bob Garner here from an interview in early 1967 when they visited The Netherlands, where he claimed Pickett wasn't considered a good front man except for his action painting antics on "Painter Man". This is a point of contention as some of the lead vocals on the original "Painter Man" album are quite bad indeed (just listen to "Like a rolling stone" as a point in case), but Pickett sang some great vocals too, like "For all that I am". But Garner wasn't too bad either, was he?

  • yeah dude i think that pickett guy was way better than this guy

  • john ryan amember of the band from the start is staying were i work he has good memmories who wrote painter man who is now in a home

  • Too bad "Painter Man" got cut off at the end. Other than that, this is great.

    *Ray*

  • Bob Garner is my second cousin. Knew he had something to do with Painter Man. Old family legend

  • No they are Mod - same as the Small faces- but they are so cool the uninitiated may think they are rock and roll!!

  • Mod schmod. This is ROCK n ROLL.

  • I lovethe music produced by both lineup!! but idk how anyone can say Kenny had no stage presence...ever see him do Painter Man?!

  • This was THE mod band and I know cause I was there.Saw them live,Kenny Picket was the biz but Garner was a real pretty boy. High Numbers(WHO)Action,Attack Early small faces. Creation never got the fame they deserved but ask any true 60's mod and they will tell you. I sound like my grandad but I am a grandad!!!!

  • you sound 4kn SPOT ON to me mate!!

    the Creation still 4kn ROCK!!

    Lee

    Liverpool Mods.

  • WARNING! WARNING!

    Charisma overload!!

    INfuckinDEED man.

    Those Germans saw this right,

this Creation was Making Big Time over there.

  • @gorgio45

    Right! Mods live forever!

  • It makes me sad and somewhat melancholy, knowing that this type of music is not being produced anymore. Everything is so slanted to sexual euphemisms and overproduced cry baby emotional dribble! Compare what you're hearing today to this music back then. Truly a world of difference in every aspect, I guess there's too many robots in the record business and too many yes men/women also! God help us all! Long Live the Mods

  • good stuff long live the mods

  • This is music at it's premier best! 'nuff said.

  • God, I can't get enough of this. They were so, so good.

  • ...Bob Garner is fantastic..!!!

  • any Liverpool Mods from '79- ? on this thaang?? anyone got photos from them days (the Dolphin,Mayflower etc)

  • Who is vocalist..!? Bob Garner..?

  • Does anybody know where I can purchase this performance on DVD or CD???

  • The Picket line-up made the better tunes

but he had almost no stage presence(in my opinion)Garner had more charisma .Great bandanyway

  • This is the Bob Garner line-up. Kenny Picket arrived at rehearsals one day to find Bob singing lead with a new bass player and promptly walked out, the new bass player was kim Gardner. Eddie Phillips left later on and was replaced by Ron Wood.

  • They should have excelled to total greatness. A really good group. Eddie Phillips is one of the greatest guitarists ever !

  • Awsome!!!!! Eddie Phillips could have joined The Who! Brilliant clip.

  • Full-screen quality,

    hi-fi sound,

stellar performance, what more can one ask?

    This is freakbeat music heaven!

  • Could someone clear somthing for me?.....I thought Kim Gardner was the bassist for The Creation originally, why did he replace Kenny on lead?

  • Opps i mean Bob Garner I was off

  • The late Kenny Picket, lead vocals,BobGarner, bass,Jack Jones, drums,Eddie Phillips, lead guitar. They broke up in the 60s because of a clash of egos (or so goes the rumour)Kenny and Jack went into a plumbing business,Eddie became a bus driver and Bob became an entertainments manager/cabaret artist.Reformed in 1993 for a one-off gig at The Mean Fiddler London, then again the following year. They released `Red with Purple Flashes` 2005.Check out my site for a clip from the 93 gig.

  • I love the Creation, thank you!

  • Further proof that this channel rocks.

  • Thank you!! I love this preformance SOOO much. "If I Stay To Long" is one of the most beautiful blue eyed soul songs around. Painter Man is an instant classic too!

  • What a great band! A magical performance indeed. Too bad they never got the credit they deserved. Thanks for posting....
