You know you not allowed to have matches, then you went away, this does not work, you will be allowed to work on your experiments when you return to the Hospice.Come back to the hospital.Ha
What are you using for your plates, how are you separating them? What is the spacing between plates? Is there enough distance in your bubbler for the bubbles to travel where they don't have a chance to connect and cause flashback ? Also: I use only 1/2 tsp of sodium hydroxide per gal. (1 liter per minute output).Definately using too much.Plate spacing at 1/32nds, using wall gang blank plates (302 ss)(17, pos,nu,neg,nu, etc)No electrolyte needed AT ALL!!)On dc. I'll be waiting for your response.
An electrolyser cell should never be run at more than two volts. You can run all the amperage it will handle but you lose all your efficiency after two volts. The following website covers everything you would ever want to know about electrolysers.
thanks a ton i appreciate it much i have been tryin to get er right and all up to date but it's been slow lackin cash almost need another job just for my hho machine lol
@MacGyver0076 Actually a 7 unit assembly wired in series. You want your voltage below 2V per cell. The website I left here the last time has changed but you can still get a lot of info from waterfuelcell(dot)org or go to wikipedia(dot)org and search "water electrolysis".
@canamm thanx, time to get more stuff and try it out. i am also thinking of using a pole switcher and if i get it timed correctly, production should be much higer. i used 110 volts dc, i noticed that if i switched the positve and negative leads every few seconds, tehre were hardly any bubbles, yet a grille lighter in the tube, and when i lit it, there was an explosion just above the water. if the poles remained constand, very little HHO from plain water, gonna try this with the clamshell too.
Some guys are using bronze wool and of all things, cigarette filters. Wet the substance that you use with water. No I have not tried any of this myself. I'm waiting for the government to ban water because somebody blows their own head off.
lol thats nothing to joke about really thats why we must be practice safty first the main thing is making sure that the blowoff on the bubbler is fail safe then oneway valve the flashback arrestor then torch end full of fine bronze wool i'm waiting on my oneway valve now i ordered it and the flashback arrestor at welding shops do not support something with so little output i think 1pound is the least available here in michigan near me
Good point. The blowoff is extremely important. This is more explosive that gasoline. This stuff is no joke! If you don't understand it then DO NOT TRY IT!
i'm gonna also do that it's a good idea a second bubbler would also do me some good i'm working on getting the supplies for that now my one way duckbill valve and my flashback arrestor i found on ebay for 15dollars i should be plenty safe
basic rule with anything electrical.. hot cord means you need a better cord. In your case you should get a heavier gauge cord. If any wires get hot with what your doing use bigger ones and make connections SOLID. Remember you are teaching me about this now so I only can think for you at this point. SSC is the one you for you to question. Cool vids ssc.
oh and its not my wire getting hot its my tube that the water travels thru to my resivoir its been running for over 8hours now and its been doing good i'm gonna let it run over nite and see what its doing in the morning or after i get out of work just to see if my water is still good or do i need to change it how long should i wait till my water is not good for anymore gas?
550 ml minute is not enough to run the torch. You need at least 1500 ml minute to do that. You need a reliable way to check your amps. Set your volts to the optimum for the number of plates you have, maybe 100v tops. Then add your baking soda a little bit at a time until your amps gets up to where you want them. In your case, not more than 10-12 amps. At that point, your device is putting out as much as it is capable of without overheating.
i encountered a problem today i ran out of soda trying to crank up the amps and still nothing the most amps i got so far was 6 how can i boost it i like poured half a box of baking soda in a gallon and amps still were not high enough what am i doing wrong not really a half box but like 4-6 tea spoons should of done it i think is there another way i don't wanna crank up the amps but i get nothing with out volts and i did have a leak in my system i think i fixed it though :) what you think how
the length of hose should be fine ... you should use a second bubbler down near your torch as the sacrificial lamb ... make a quick and dirty one out of a cast off juice jug or something ... if it goes boom, no big loss and easily replaced ...
if you are squirting water out the end of your torch, you are over filling the reservoir or running it WAY too hot ...
it sure looks like you are getting enough flow at the torch for it to work ... maybe smaller diameter mig tip ???
i thought about a smaller tip but i figured it should be fine its just my device i had it running now for more than 3hours at 100v and it's not hot at all mabey just over 100degrese i'm not sure no thermometer only when i crank it up to the maxx do i get that 14 second run for 550LPM at 100 volts barely 550 in a min somethings not right here i should be able to get good production atleast mabey its my electrolite i didn't use arm and hammer soda
if you are around can you please give me an idea on where i can find this chemical called KOH potassium hydroxide i think i have been looking and looking caustic soda is not pure potassium right i need koh
Potassium Hydroxide is a somewhat more stable electrolyte than backing soda. It will not break down during the process and its vapors can easily be captured and condensed back into the fluid for re-use. It is the best thing I have found so far for use as an electrolyte in this type of device. And it would normally be used in a dilute solution of distilled water with no other additives.

try 14 vdc or battery charger at 10 or 20 amp setting
Try dc

@canamm so what you are syaing is make a 6-unit clamshell in series for a 12 volt battery?
