I've started again fresh with Pool of Radiance and plan to do a few uploads as time goes on. I wish there were more people posting battles from this series. I am completely amused by different characters people come up with and seeing them in action.
then make sure you use the "modify" option at the beginning of the game before you start so you can max out your characters stats to 18. Then when you start make sure you pick up some good equipment at the shop. Plate mail, shield, + longsword for your fighter type characters. memorize spells at the inn.+be persistent.
CotAB was actually the first AD+D game I ever owned. I originally picked it up for the Apple IIe computer ages ago. then later I bought the DOS version from the Forgotten Realms Archive collection CD.
nope. the one I had came in a blue package with a large book that contains all the journals etc. for a whole slew of games, the whole Pool of Radiance series, Savage Frontier series, Eye of the Beholder series+ a few other games. It was a 5 disc set.
No more Uber battles until Total War came along! :)

But this game... I can't ever get through it. I get to the sewer parts and the otyugh always kill me.

1st step is to create a well rounded team.
I used
1 human paladin
1 dwarf fighter/thief
1 human ranger
1 human cleric
1 half-elf cleric/fighter/magic user
1 human magic user

you've only listed 5 characters. If that is all you have then create one human ranger to make a 6 character party

DId it come in two discs and was it brown? Because that's the one I have.
